Two new doubly -N bridged (1 and 3) and six new doubly -NCO bridged Ni complexes (2, 4-8) with six different NO donor Schiff base ligands have been synthesized and magneto-structurally characterized. All these neutral complex molecules are isostructural and constitute edge sharing bioctahedral structures. Magnetic studies revealed that all these complexes exhibit ferromagnetic interaction through bridging pseudohalides with ferromagnetic coupling constant being significantly higher for azide-bridged complexes than that of the cyanate analogues.

Fast and simple access to -arylated 3-hydroxyquinolin-4(1)-ones starting from easily available 1-methyl-2-iodoterephthalate and variously substituted anilines is presented. -Alkylated anthranilic acid derivatives represent important intermediates. They can be advantageously prepared by solid-phase synthesis, by Buchwald-Hartwig amination or reductive amination with wide substrate scope and with excellent crude purities.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA simple low-temperature water-based and one-pot synthesis was developed for the preparation of nanocrystalline CeO that was used for degradation of the toxic organophosphate pesticide parathion methyl. By changing the reaction temperature in the range from 5 °C to 95 °C, several properties (, crystallinity, grain size and surface area) of nanoceria can be easily controlled. The catalytic decomposition of parathion methyl to its degradation product 4-nitrophenol was highly dependent on the CeO preparation temperature.

The objective of this work was the exploration of the effect of the second coordination sphere on the magnetic properties of [Ln(NO)(HO)]·(18C6) (Ln = Dy (1) and Er (2)) compounds comprising co-crystallized 18-crown-6 ethers. Both compounds were identified as field-induced single molecule magnets (SMMs) with estimated magnetization reversal barriers = 66-71 K for 1 and = 21-24 K for 2. Theoretical calculations with the B3LYP functional revealed substantial change and redistribution of the electrostatic potential upon accounting for the second coordination sphere represented by two 18C6 molecules, which resulted in the change of the crystal-field around metal atoms.

The security of quantum cryptography is guaranteed by the no-cloning theorem, which implies that an eavesdropper copying transmitted qubits in unknown states causes their disturbance. Nevertheless, in real cryptographic systems some level of disturbance has to be allowed to cover, e.g.
