The ant genus are fascinating ants due to their distinctive morphology, ecology, and rarity. In this study, a comprehensive revision of in the Afrotropical region is presented, through a combination of morphological examination under the light microscope and three-dimensional (3D) cyber-taxonomy based on microtomography (micro-CT). Micro-CT based 3D surface models of all species were used for virtual morphological visualisation and examination.

Background: Our patient and public involvement activities were part of a project aiming to develop a master protocol and National Institute for Health and Care research application for the PROTECT trial aiming to assess the effectiveness, implementation, and efficiency of antimicrobial stewardship interventions, to safely reduce unnecessary antibiotic usage by excluding severe bacterial infection in acutely unwell patients.
Methods: Three public involvement sessions were held with representation from young people and parents, people from diverse backgrounds and people with experience of presenting to the emergency department with undifferentiated illness. The teleconference meetings lasted between 60-90 minutes, were recorded, notes were subsequently taken, and findings summarised.

Introduction: A lack of national consensus on the roles and responsibilities of Australian memory and cognition clinics contributes to the large variability seen across services. The introduction of guidelines and a quality assessment framework could facilitate greater harmonization and quality improvements.
Methods: We used a modified Delphi process to develop the guidelines.
Familial Platelet Disorder with associated Myeloid Malignancy (FPDMM, FPD/AML, -FPD), caused by monoallelic deleterious germline variants, is characterized by bleeding diathesis and predisposition for hematologic malignancies, particularly myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Clinical data on FPDMM-associated AML (FPDMM-AML) are limited, complicating evidence-based clinical decision-making. Here, we present retrospective genetic and clinical data of the largest cohort of FPDMM patients reported to date.

Water pollution, oxidative stress and the emergence of multidrug-resistant bacterial strains are significant global threats that require urgent attention to protect human health. Nanocomposites that combine multiple metal oxides with carbon-based materials have garnered significant attention due to their synergistic physicochemical properties and versatile applications in both environmental and biomedical fields. In this context, the present study was aimed at synthesizing a ternary metal-oxide nanocomposite consisting of silver oxide, copper oxide, and zinc oxide (ACZ-NC), along with a multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified ternary metal-oxide nanocomposite (MWCNTs@ACZ-NC).

On a silicon substrate, a titanium film served as the electrode layer, and an aluminium film served as the base layer in the initial film structure. A PAA template was formed from the Al film using two-step electrochemical anodizing.

The current work focuses on the creation of novel derivatives of the quinazolinone ring system, with various substituted thiophene, thienopyrimidine, and thienopyridine scaffolds 3a,b-11. Employing the standard MTT assay, every target compound's antiproliferative efficacy was evaluated in comparison with doxorubicin against both normal WI-38 cells and various cancer cell lines. Derivatives 6, 8a, and 8b demonstrated the most potent activity, alongside their safety profiles against WI-38.

Introduction: Organ donation refers to the collection of a human organ from a living or deceased donor and its transplantation into a recipient. An organ transplant recipient is a patient with organ failure who will not survive unless he receives a new organ. Although the benefits of organ transplantation are undeniable, there is a significant gap between the number of donors and recipients, as the demand for organs greatly surpasses the available supply.

Introduction Thyroid malignancy remains a significant global health concern, making the accurate differentiation between benign and malignant thyroid nodules crucial for optimal patient management. Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is the gold-standard preoperative diagnostic tool, and The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology provides a standardized framework for interpretation. This 10-year retrospective study evaluated the malignancy risk in surgically treated patients with thyroid nodules classified as Bethesda Category III by comparing FNAC findings with histopathological outcomes.

Disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis (DPL) is a rare entity. It is a benign disease but can mimic disseminated malignancy with extensive disease at multiple sites within the abdominopelvic cavity. The primary contributing factor is postulated to be peritoneal spillage of benign leiomyoma, especially after laparoscopic intervention, although hormonal influences might also play a role.
