The coronavirus family has been infecting the human population for the past two decades, but the ongoing coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2 has posed an enigmatic challenge to global public health security. Since last year, the mutagenic quality of this virus is causing changes to its genetic material. To prevent those situations, the FDA approved some emergency vaccines but there is no assurance that these will function properly in the complex human body system.

Water deficit is a major limiting condition for adaptation of maize in tropical environments. The aims of the current observations were to evaluate the kernel water relations for determining kernel developmental progress, rate, and duration of kernel filling, stem reserve mobilization in maize. In addition, canopy temperature, cell membrane stability, and anatomical adaptation under prolonged periods of pre- and post-anthesis water deficit in different hybrids was quantified to support observations related to kernel filling dynamics.

Background: The leaves of contain an abundance of phenolic constituents and have medicinal uses as antipyretic and diaphoretic agents and are also used in the treatment of stomach ache, rheumatism, arthritis etc. In spite of the traditional uses, data on the scientific evaluation of the plant are not sufficient. So, the present study was designed to evaluate the protective role of the extract against oxidative damage to DNA and human erythrocytes as well as antitumor and antibacterial activities against some resistant bacteria.

In recent years, the world has shown considerable concerns about environmental degradation accompanied by urban expansion. In terms of size, Bogura is equivalent to most of the major cities in Bangladesh, yet no thermal and ecological assessment has ever been conducted here. This study uses multitemporal Landsat satellite images between 2001 and 2020 to investigate the thermal and ecological conditions of Bogura Sadar (sub-district).

Went causes red rot disease in sugarcane farming in the tropical and sub-tropical regions. This disease causes significant economic loss to the sugarcane production industry. Successful disease management strategies depend on understanding the evolutionary relationship between pathogens, genetic diversity, and population structure, particularly at the intra-specific level.

Hemp adaptability through physiological and biochemical changes was studied under 10 LED light spectra and natural light in a controlled aeroponic system. Light treatments were imposed on 25 days aged seedlings for 16 h daily (300 µmol m s) for 20 days. Plant accumulated highest Cannabidiol (CBD) in R:B:G light treatment, with relatively higher photosynthetic rate and lower reactive oxygen species, total phenol content, total flavonoid content, DPPH radical scavenging capacity, and antioxidant enzymatic activities.

Formylation is one of the newly discovered post-translational modifications in lysine residue which is responsible for different kinds of diseases. In this work, a novel predictor, named predForm-Site, has been developed to predict formylation sites with higher accuracy. We have integrated multiple sequence features for developing a more informative representation of formylation sites.

What will happen when two invasive species are competing and invading the environment at the same time? In this paper, we try to find all the possible scenarios in such a situation based on the diffusive Lotka-Volterra competition system with free boundaries. In a recent work, Du and Wu (Calc Var Partial Differ Equ, 57(2):52, 2018) considered a weak-strong competition case of this model (with spherical symmetry) and theoretically proved the existence of a "chase-and-run coexistence" phenomenon, for certain parameter ranges when the initial functions are chosen properly. Here we use a numerical approach to extend the theoretical research of Du and Wu (Calc Var Partial Differ Equ, 57(2):52, 2018) in several directions.

This study analyzes the effects of credit constraints on technical efficiency of Boro rice growers in the district of Pabna in Bangladesh. Using a simple random sampling technique, the data was collected from 570 Boro rice growers from the Pabna district of Bangladesh. Before conducting a field survey, a theoretical model was designed to identify credit-constrained and non-constrained rice growers.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of organic substrates on the growth yield, photosynthetic response, and nutritional profile of red leaf lettuce grown in different compositions of cocopeat (CP), sawdust (SD), and rice husk (RH). The result showed that the properties of substrates were influenced variably by their mixing ratios. The highest water holding capacity and moisture content were found in CP, and it provided the preferable pH, electrical conductivity, bulk density, and air-filled porosity in association with other categories of the substrate.

Graduate School of Life Science, Transdisciplinary Life Science Course, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Hokkaido 060-0812, Japan.

Synchronized movement of (both unicellular and multicellular) systems can be observed almost everywhere. Understanding of how organisms are regulated to synchronized behavior is one of the challenging issues in the field of collective motion. It is hypothesized that one or a few agents in a group regulate(s) the dynamics of the whole collective, known as leader(s).

The low-pass nonlinear electrical transmission lines and the Cahn-Allen equation are important nonlinear model equations to figure out different tangible systems, namely, electrical engineering, fluid dynamics etc. The contrivance of this study is to introduce advanced Bernoulli sub-equation function method to search for stable and effective solitary solutions of the described wave equations. Stable solitary solutions are reported as an integration of exponential functions, hyperbolic functions, etc.

Background: Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a serious violation of women's human rights and a dominant chronic global public health problem. Although it is suspected that epidemic-induced economic downturns have fueled the IPV, enough empirical literature are not available to make a consensus. Against this backdrop, the present study has attempted to explore the prevalence and associated factors of IPV amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Post-translational modification (PTM) involves covalent modification after the biosynthesis process and plays an essential role in the study of cell biology. Lysine phosphoglycerylation, a newly discovered reversible type of PTM that affects glycolytic enzyme activities, and is responsible for a wide variety of diseases, such as heart failure, arthritis, and degeneration of the nervous system. Our goal is to computationally characterize potential phosphoglycerylation sites to understand the functionality and causality more accurately.

The Estevez-Mansfield-Clarkson (EMC) equation and the (2+1)-dimensional Riemann wave (RW) equation are important mathematical models in nonlinear science, engineering and mathematical physics which have remarkable applications in the field of plasma physics, fluid dynamics, optics, image processing etc. Generally, through the sine-Gordon expansion (SGE) method only the lower-dimensional nonlinear evolution equations (NLEEs) are examined. However, the method has not yet been extended of finding solutions to the higher-dimensional NLEEs.

Lead-free metal halide perovskites have nowadays become familiar owing to their potential use in solar cells and other optoelectronic applications. In this study, we carried out the structural, elastic, electronic, and optical properties of pure and metal (Mo/Tc) doped CsSnBr by using the density functional theory. The metal doping CsSnBr displays a narrowing band gap and as a result the optical functions exhibit high absorption and high conductivity in the visible region.
