[Surgical Safety of Elderly Hospitalized Patients Stratified by Age in General Surgery].

Objective To compare the surgical safety of elderly hospitalized patients in different age groups undergoing general surgery,and provide references for preoperative evaluation and treatment decision-making.Methods The inpatients ≥ 60 years old in the department of general surgery were selected from a national multi-center survey conducted from January to June in 2015 and from January to June in 2016.The patient characteristics and postoperative outcomes were described,and the risk factors for adverse postoperative outcomes of patients in different age groups were explored.

Fusion Oncogenes in Patients With Locally Advanced or Distant Metastatic Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

Context: Fusion oncogenes are involved in the underlying pathology of advanced differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), and even the cause of radioactive iodine (RAI)-refractoriness.

Objective: We aimed to investigation between fusion oncogenes and clinicopathological characteristics involving a large-scale cohort of patients with advanced DTC.

Methods: We collected 278 tumor samples from patients with locally advanced (N1b or T4) or distant metastatic DTC.

Comparing the clinical value of baseline [ Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT and [F]F-FDG PET/CT in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: additional prognostic value of the distal pancreatitis.

Purpose: Anatomical and molecular staging strategies are needed for the personalized treatment of localized pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). This study evaluated the performance of [ Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 and [F]F-FDG PET/CT on the disease staging and prognostic value of patients with localized PDAC on contrast-enhanced (CE)-CT images.

Methods: Patients with suspected localized PDAC on CE-CT were recruited for static [ Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 and [F]F-FDG and PET/CT, and select patients underwent simultaneous 60-min dynamic  Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT.

Intratumoural microbiome can predict the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma after surgery.

Background: The dismal prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is closely associated with characteristics of the tumour microenvironment (TME). Recent studies have confirmed the presence and potential influence of the microbiome in TME on cancer progression. Elucidating the relationship between microbes in the TME and cancer could provide valuable insights into novel diagnostic markers and therapeutic strategies for HCC and thus warrants a closer investigation of the role of intratumoural microbiome in the HCC TME.

Objective To study the pathological types,expression of mismatch repair protein,human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2),and Pan-TRK,and Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)infection in patients with colorectal cancer resected in Tibet. Methods A total of 79 patients with colorectal cancer resected in Tibet Autonomous Region People's Hospital from December 2013 to July 2021 were enrolled in this study.The clinical and pathological data of the patients were collected.

[Quality of Images Reconstructed by Deep Learning Reconstruction Algorithm for Head and Neck CT Angiography at 100 kVp].

Objective To evaluate the impact of deep learning reconstruction algorithm on the image quality of head and neck CT angiography (CTA) at 100 kVp. Methods CT scanning was performed at 100 kVp for the 37 patients who underwent head and neck CTA in PUMC Hospital from March to April in 2021.Four sets of images were reconstructed by three-dimensional adaptive iterative dose reduction (AIDR 3D) and advanced intelligent Clear-IQ engine (AiCE) (low,medium,and high intensity algorithms),respectively.

[Evaluation of Extrathyroidal Extension of Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma With Three-Dimensional Tomographic Ultrasound Imaging].

Objective To evaluate extrathyroidal extension (ETE) in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) with three-dimensional tomographic ultrasound imaging (3D-TUI). Methods A total of 97 thyroid nodules of 79 patients with PTMC treated in PUMC Hospital from February 2016 to January 2018 were included in this study.Two ultrasound experts performed independent blinded assessment of the relationship between thyroid nodules and thyroid capsule by two-dimensional ultrasound (2D-US) and 3D-TUI.

Integrated multiomics analysis reveals changes in liver physiological function in Aqp9 gene knockout mice.

Aquaporin 9 (AQP9) is the main channel by which blood glycerol enters the liver, where it plays key roles in osmotic pressure regulation and energy metabolism. Previous studies have shown that AQP9 is involved in the pathogenesis of many liver diseases. In this study, we aimed to clarify the role of AQP9 in maintaining the physiological environment of the liver using Aqp9 mice.

3D bioprinted liver tissue and disease models: Current advances and future perspectives.

Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting is a promising technology for fabricating complex tissue constructs with biomimetic biological functions and stable mechanical properties. In this review, the characteristics of different bioprinting technologies and materials are compared, and development in strategies for bioprinting normal and diseased hepatic tissue are summarized. In particular, features of bioprinting and other bio-fabrication strategies, such as organoids and spheroids are compared to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of 3D printing technology.

Identification and Validation of a Prognostic Signature Based on Methylation Profiles and Methylation-Driven Gene as a Prognostic Biomarker in Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma.

Recurrence is the major death cause of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC), and a better understanding of recurrence risk at early stage may lead to make the optimal medical decision to improve patients' prognosis. The 2015 American Thyroid Association (ATA) risk stratification system primary based on clinic-pathologic features is the most commonly used to describe the initial risk of persistent/recurrent disease. Besides, multiple prognostics models based on multigenes expression profiles have been developed to predict the recurrence risk of DTC patients.

Personalized treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma in the era of targeted medicine and bioengineering.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major global health burden, causing approximately 8.3 million deaths each year, and it is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide, with a relative 5-year survival rate of around 18%. Due to the advanced stage of diagnosis in most patients, systemic treatment based on targeted therapy has become the only feasible option.

Multicenter Randomized Double-Blind Phase III Trial of Donafenib in Progressive Radioactive Iodine-Refractory Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

Purpose: The phase II/III study of donafenib was initiated when there was no available treatment indicated for Chinese patients with progressive radioactive iodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (RAIR-DTC). Donafenib, an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), showed good efficacy and tolerability in the phase II study. We aimed to further evaluate the antitumor activity and safety of donafenib in Chinese patients with RAIR-DTC.

[Prediction of Coagulation Factor Ⅷ Level in Chinese Hemophilia A Patients by the Pharmacokinetic Management Tool myPKFiT].

Objective To evaluate the performance of myPKFiT,a tool guiding the dosing of antihemophilic factor (recombinant) plasma/albumin-free method (rAHF-PFM),in maintaining the coagulation factor Ⅷ (FⅧ) level above a target threshold at the steady state and estimating the pharmacokinetics (PK) parameters in hemophilia A patients in China. Methods The data of 9 patients with severe hemophilia A in a trial (CTR20140434) assessing the safety and efficacy of rAHF-PFM in the Chinese patients with hemophilia A were analyzed.The myPKFiT was used to predict the adequate dose to maintain a patient's FⅧ level above target threshold at the steady state.

Evaluation of different treatment modalities for diffuse uterine leiomyomatosis: A case series report and review of the literature.

Objective: To provide perspectives on preoperative diagnosis and conservative treatment for diffuse uterine leiomyomatosis (DUL).

Methods: The clinical characteristics, management, and outcome of the five cases diagnosed with DUL receiving surgical treatment at Peking Union Medical College Hospital between January 2010 and December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.

Results: DUL is a diagnosis based on histopathology.

Epigenetic regulation of HBV-specific tumor-infiltrating T cells in HBV-related HCC.

Background And Aims: HBV shapes the T-cell immune responses in HBV-related HCC. T cells can be recruited to the nidus, but limited T cells participate specifically in response to the HBV-related tumor microenvironment and HBV antigens. How epigenomic programs regulate T-cell compartments in virus-specific immune processes is unclear.

Safety and Perioperative Outcomes of Laparoscopic vs. Open Hepatectomy of Central-Located Liver Lesions: A Multicenter, Propensity Score-Matched, Retrospective Cohort Study.

Background: Short-term outcomes of laparoscopic hepatectomy of central-located liver lesions (LHCL) compared with traditional open hepatectomy of central-located liver lesions (OHCL) remain unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the safety and efficacy of LHCL.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 262 patients who underwent hepatectomies involving resections of liver segment II, IV or VIII from January 2015 to June 2021 in two institutions.

Intermittent fasting and immunomodulatory effects: A systematic review.

Introduction: strategy of periodic food restriction and fixed eating windows, could beneficially modify individuals by losing body weight, regulating glucose or lipid metabolism, reducing blood pressure, and modulating the immune system. Specific effects of IF and its mechanisms have not yet been assessed collectively. Thus, this systematic review aims to summarize and compare clinical trials that explored the immunomodulatory effects of IF.

[Clinical Practice of Multiple Disciplinary Team Care Model Following the Concept of Palliative Care for Advanced Head and Neck Cancer:Report of One Case].

We provided the palliative care of a multiple disciplinary team care mode to a patient diagnosed with advanced head and neck cancer and her caregivers.People-centered integrated health services were provided according to the specific needs and preferences of individuals.The team-based palliative care relieved the suffering and improved the quality of life of the patient and that of her family who were facing challenges associated with life-threatening illness.

Objective To reveal the current situation of palliative care for patients who died in Peking Union Medical College Hospital,so as to guide the practice of palliative care for patients in terminal stage. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on patients who died in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 1,2019 to December 31,2019.The general clinical data of the patients,whether they received palliative care,and the treatment details including invasive rescue measures,symptom controlling,and psychological,social,and spiritual care status before dying were collected for descriptive analysis.
