[Intraspinal Metastasis of Thymic Carcinoma:Report of One Case].

Intraspinal metastasis from malignant carcinomas in other body parts is rarely reported.Intraspinal metastases are often epidural,with primary tumors mostly from the lung and prostate.The extramedullary subdural metastasis of thymic carcinoma is particularly rare and prone to misdiagnosis due to overlapping imaging features with primary intraspinal tumors.

Occult endometrial cancer in women undergoing hysterectomy for benign indications: a retrospective cohort study in a tertiary hospital in China.

Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility of further reducing the incidence of occult endometrial cancer in women undergoing hysterectomy for benign gynecological indications.

Methods: Patients who underwent hysterectomies for presumed benign gynecologic conditions at Peking Union Medical College Hospital were retrospectively identified. Patients with occult endometrial cancer, which was defined as endometrial cancer diagnosed on postoperative histopathology with no preoperative confirmed malignancy, were selected.

Prognostic value of postoperative anti-thyroglobulin antibody in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer.

Purpose: Postoperative thyroglobulin (Tg) generally serves as a biomarker to monitor the recurrence or persistence of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), whereas it constrains to interference from anti-thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb). This study aimed to determine the value of postoperative TgAb as a surrogate for monitoring tumor status in DTCs with positive TgAb after successful radioactive iodine (RAI) remnant ablation.

Methods: We retrospectively enrolled DTC patients with positive (≥40 IU/mL, Roche) postoperative TgAb measurements.

Effect of Maternal Pre-Pregnancy Body Mass Index on Longitudinal Fetal Growth and Mediating Role of Maternal Fasting Plasma Glucose: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Purpose: To assess the impact of maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) on longitudinal fetal growth, and the potential mediation effect of the maternal fasting plasma glucose in first trimester.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we collected pre-pregnancy BMI data and ultrasound measurements during pregnancy of 3879 singleton pregnant women who underwent antenatal examinations and delivered at Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Generalized estimation equations, linear regression, and logistic regression were used to examine the association between pre-pregnancy BMI with fetal growth and adverse neonatal outcomes.

[Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Pancreatic Cystic Lesion Imaging].

As the detection rate of pancreatic cystic lesions(PCL)increases,artificial intelligence(AI)has made breakthroughs in the imaging workflow of PCL,including image post-processing,lesion detection,segmentation,diagnosis and differential diagnosis.AI-based image post-processing can optimize the quality of medical images and AI-assisted models for lesion detection,segmentation,diagnosis and differential diagnosis significantly enhance the work efficiency of radiologists.This article reviews the application progress of AI in PCL imaging and provides prospects for future research directions.

[Construction of the Whole Process Management Model of Hospice and Palliative Care Outpatient Clinic].

Objective To construct a scientific and practical management model of the hospice and palliative care outpatient clinic and provide a reference for the operation and development of the outpatient clinic. Methods The basic framework of the whole process management model of hospice and palliative care outpatient clinic was determined preliminarily by literature analysis,qualitative interviews and experts group meetings.Two rounds of consultation were conducted among 18 experts in hospice and palliative care and medical-nursing combined outpatient service by the Delphi method.

Risk stratification for radioactive iodine refractoriness using molecular alterations in distant metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer.

Objective: Patients with radioactive iodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (RAIR-DTC) are often diagnosed with delay and constrained to limited treatment options. The correlation between RAI refractoriness and the underlying genetic characteristics has not been extensively studied.

Methods: Adult patients with distant metastatic DTC were enrolled and assigned to undergo next-generation sequencing of a customized 26-gene panel (ThyroLead).

Early Structural, Biochemical, and Metabolic Responses to Anlotinib in Patients With Progressive Radioactive Iodine Refractory Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

Objective: We aimed to assess the early efficacy of anlotinib in patients with progressive radioactive iodine refractory differentiated thyroid cancer at the structural, biochemical, and metabolic levels.

Methods: Ten eligible patients were prospectively enrolled to receive anlotinib. Their responses were assessed at 6 weeks.

Objective To investigate clinicians' practice and opinions on sedation therapy in end-stage patients at Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Methods From August,2022 to April,2023,an online questionnaire survey was conducted among clinicians involved in end-stage patient management. Results A total of 205 questionnaires were distributed,with an effective response rate of 56.

Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is the most prevalent endocrine cancer worldwide. Approximately 30 % of PTC patients will progress into the advanced or metastatic stage and have a relatively poor prognosis. It is well known that epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) plays a pivotal role in thyroid cancer metastasis, resistance to therapy, and recurrence.

[Palliative Care for End-Stage Renal Disease:A Case Report and Literature Review].

Since end-stage renal disease leads to a variety of problems such as disability,reduced quality of life,and mental and psychological disorders,it has become a serious public health problem around the globe.Renal palliative care integrates palliative care philosophy in the care for patients with end-stage renal disease.As a planned,comprehensive,patient-centered care,renal palliative care focuses on the patient's symptoms and needs,aiming to reduce the suffering throughout the course of the disease,including but not limited to end-of-life care.

[Integrative Palliative Care for End-Stage Patients].

Integrative palliative care is the early intervention of palliative medicine for the patients with serious illness,jointly providing care with the patients' primary care team.By literature review and real-life experience study,we conclude that the integrative palliative care can make effective use of existing healthcare resources and provide the original treatment team with palliative medical technical support,thereby improving the patients' quality of life.The healthcare institutions need to choose an appropriate care model on the basis of evaluating its own strengths and weaknesses.

[Effect of Concept and Practice of Palliative Care on the Death Status of Patients in Peking Union Medical College Hospital].

Objective To analyze the changes of death status of the inpatients in Peking Union Medical College Hospital before and after the development of palliative care.Methods All the death cases of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in 2013 (384 cases) and 2019 (244 cases) were included in this study,and the general information of the patients and the details of diagnosis and treatment before death were collected.Results The departments of intensive care,emergency,and respiratory diseases and the international medical services had highest number of deaths in both 2013 and 2019,with the cumulative constituent ratios of 67.

Characterizing Genetic Alterations Related to Radioiodine Avidity in Metastatic Thyroid Cancer.

Context: Patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) with distant metastasis (DM) are usually not recognized as radioactive iodine (RAI)-refractory DTC in a timely manner. The elucidation of genetic features related to RAI uptake patterns may shed light on the early recognition of RAI-refractory DTC.

Objective: This work aimed to elucidate the underlying molecular features behind different RAI uptake patterns.

Prediction of Clinical Precision Chemotherapy by Patient-Derived 3D Bioprinting Models of Colorectal Cancer and Its Liver Metastases.

Methods accurately predicting the responses of colorectal cancer (CRC) and colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRLM) to personalized chemotherapy remain limited due to tumor heterogeneity. This study introduces an innovative patient-derived CRC and CRLM tumor model for preclinical investigation, utilizing 3d-bioprinting (3DP) technology. Efficient construction of homogeneous in vitro 3D models of CRC/CRLM is achieved through the application of patient-derived primary tumor cells and 3D bioprinting with bioink.

Protective effect of soy isolate protein against streptozotocin induced gestational diabetes mellitus via TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a serious complication of pregnancy that is characterized by high blood sugar levels that occur due to insulin resistance and dysfunction in glucose metabolism during pregnancy. It usually develops in the second or third trimester of pregnancy and affects about 7 % of all pregnancies worldwide. In this experimental study, we scrutinized the GDM protective effect of soy isolate protein against streptozotocin (STZ) induced GDM in rats and explore the underlying mechanism.

[Omalizumab Treats Aspirin-Induced Asthma Complicated With Nasosinusitis and Otitis Media:Report of One Case].

Omalizumab,as a biological agent targeting IgE,is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody and the first targeted drug approved for treating moderate-to-severe bronchial asthma.By reviewing one case of aspirin-induced asthma complicated with nasosinusitis and otitis media,we discussed the value of omalizumab in the treatment of asthma and its complications,aiming to provide a reference for clinical practice.

[Intrauterine Device Totally Embedded in the Bladder Wall:Report of One Case].

Intrauterine device(IUD)migrating to the bladder is rare,especially the migration far away from the uterus into the bladder wall.Due to no obvious clinical symptom in the early stage and being far away from the uterus,the IUD totally embedded in the bladder wall is prone to misdiagnosis and delay in treatment.We reported one case of such migration,aiming to improve the clinical management of the IUD totally embedded in the bladder wall.
