Breast cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women despite advances in early detection. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is now standard for early-stage BC, with vitamin D (VD) emerging as a potential prognostic biomarker considering its positive pleiotropic effects. This review and meta-analysis assess the impact of baseline VD levels on outcomes in BC patients undergoing NACT.

Background: Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a rare, heterogeneous neurodegenerative disease for which no treatment is currently available. In the context of clinical trials, the representativeness of the included patients is crucial for the generalizability of the results. Herein, we present results from a multicenter perspective study to identify the most restrictive criteria for patient selection and to assess the representativeness of eligible patients.

Aim: To meta-analyze the utility of transarterial radioembolization (TARE) in patients with liver metastatic breast cancer (BC), based on the objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR).
Methods: A literature search was performed retrieving studies with (1) at least 10 patients with liver metastatic BC treated with TARE and (2) adequate information to derive ORR and DCR. The ORR is the ratio between patients with liver lesions showing complete response (CR) or partial response (PR) over the total number of patients treated with TARE; the DCR is the ratio between patients with CR, PR, or stable disease (SD) over the total number of patients treated with TARE.

Background: Melanoma brain metastases represents a significant clinical challenge, frequently associated with high morbidity and mortality. Recent advancements in neuroimaging, radiation therapy, and targeted systemic therapies, specifically BRAF and MEK inhibitors, have improved the management of this condition. Nevertheless, the optimal therapeutic approach for melanoma brain metastases remains a subject of ongoing debate, with no universally accepted treatment protocol.

Introduction: In patients with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) related to primary C1 inhibitor deficiency (C1INH), the defective clearance of immune complexes and apoptotic materials along with impairment of normal humoral response potentially leads to autoimmunity. Few studies report evidence on autoimmune diseases in C1INH-HAE, but no large population studies focus on rare connective tissue diseases (RCTDs). We aim at evaluating for the first time prevalence and distribution of RCTDs - Systemic Lupus Erytematosus (SLE), primary Sjogren Syndrome (SjS), primary antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), Systemic Sclerosis (SSc), and mixed connective tissue diseases (MCTD) in a large Italian cohort of C1INH-HAE patients.

Purpose: This paper aims to assess the influence of nursing leadership style on error management culture (EMC).
Design/methodology/approach: This scoping review was conducted following the integrative review methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase and EBSCO databases were systematically searched to identify studies on nursing leadership, error management and measurement, and error management culture.

Background: Peripheral immune cells critically contribute to the clinical-pathological progression of neurodegenerative diseases and also represent a reliable frame for translational applications. However, data on progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) are almost scarce in this regard.
Objective: Our goal is to provide a broad biological characterization of peripheral immune cells in a selected PSP cohort.

Background/aim: Ductal carcinoma in situ is considered a local disease with no metastatic potential, thus sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) may be deemed an overtreatment. SLNB should be reserved for patients with invasive cancer, even though the risk of upstaging rises to 25 %. We aimed to identify clinicopathological predictors of post-operative upstaging in invasive carcinoma.

In recent years, prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a transmembrane glycoprotein, has emerged as a promising biomarker for theranostics, integrating diagnosis and therapy. PSMA's overexpression in various tumors, including brain metastases and high-grade gliomas, suggests its potential in neuro-oncology. Pruis et al.

Background: Improving prognosis of BC patients has drawn the attention of health care professionals on disease related long-term side effects and on the multiple treatments BC patients must undergo. Despite advances in procedures, surgery still has multiple detrimental effects, including pain, edema, and limited mobility. For this reason, fostering adapted physical activity (APA) and healthy lifestyle (including a balanced diet and weight management) should become an everyday purpose of healthcare professionals.

Background: The relationship between meningiomas and gonadal steroid hormones has been the subject of debate, and there is limited understanding of the connection between patient, tumor characteristics, and progesterone receptor (PGR) status.
Methods: This retrospective observational study aims to explore the prognostic correlation between PGR+ and PGR-meningiomas in terms of various clinical, radiological, and surgical predictors. The analysis included 270 patients, divided into 2 groups: group A (PGR-, 194 patients), and group B (PGR+, 76 patients).

Introduction: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subtype of breast cancer characterized by the absence of estrogen, progesterone, and HER2 receptors. It predominantly affects younger women and is associated with a poor prognosis. This systematic review aims to evaluate the current role of positron emission tomography (PET) in the management of TNBC patients and to identify future research directions.

Objectives: To provide a systematic review of the novel intravesically administered therapeutic agents for the salvage treatment of BCG-unresponsive NMIBC.

Introduction: Distal Cholangiocarcinoma (dCCA) represents a challenge in hepatobiliary oncology, that requires nuanced post-resection prognostic modeling. Conventional staging criteria may oversimplify dCCA complexities, prompting the exploration of novel prognostic factors and methodologies, including machine learning algorithms. This study aims to develop a machine learning predictive model for recurrence after resected dCCA.

Background: Delayed discharge from hospital to home or other care institutions is a significant problem and has been investigated in the international scientific literature for many years. Behind this condition is a health care system based on a hospital-centered concept characterized by a lack of territorial health and social welfare services. This phenomenon causes two different problems: an excessive length of hospital stay, resulting in slow turnover of bed utilization; and overcrowding in emergency rooms (ERs).

Background: Several risk stratification scores have been suggested to aid prognostication and guide treatment strategies for brain metastases (BMs). However, the current scores do not focus on the specific neurosurgical population, therefore not predicting short-term mortality and postoperative performance status.
Methods: This retrospective observational study of 362 consecutive patients treated with surgery for BMs aims to identify the factors associated with post-surgical outcomes and propose a surgery-specific prognostic score for patients with BMs candidate for open surgery.

Background: In recent years, fibroblast activating protein (FAP), a biomarker overexpressed by cancer-associated fibroblasts, has emerged as one of the most promising biomarkers in oncology. Similarly, FAP overexpression has been detected in various fibroblast-mediated inflammatory conditions such as liver cirrhosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Along this trajectory, FAP-targeted positron emission tomography (PET), utilizing FAP inhibitors (FAPi) labeled with positron emitters, has gained traction as a powerful imaging approach in both cancer and inflammation.
