Background: Alpha-s1 casein hydrolysate (ACH; Lactium®) is recognized as a supplementary treatment to enhance sleep quality. However, limited studies utilizing objective sleep assessment tools have resulted in a lack of substantial validation. This study aimed to assess the effects of ACH on both subjective sleep assessments and objective polysomnography (PSG) recordings in a hospital-based cohort of Taiwanese individuals with chronic insomnia.

Soft palate webbing flap palatopharyngoplasty (SPWFPP) has been introduced to enhance the stability of the lateral pharyngeal wall with minimal postoperative complications by eliminating the need for tonsillectomy. This study analyzed the anatomic findings of oropharynx for determination of outcome in OSA patients requiring SPWFPP.

Objective: To explore the characteristics of elderly patients with central sleep apnea (CSA).
Methods: This retrospective study divided 123 patients with CSA into elderly and non-elderly groups, and compared them in terms of demographic characteristics (age, BMI, etc), underlying diseases (hypertension, coronary heart disease, and cardiac arrhythmias, etc). and polysomnography parameters.

Rationale: Mouth air leak is a major cause of low adherence to nasal CPAP in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). However, CPAP reports do not distinguish mouth from mask leak. We hypothesized that mouth air leak is terminated abruptly by an arousal from sleep and mouth closing that can be detected by CPAP leak waveform analysis.

Background And Objective: Evaluate relationships between PSG-confirmed OSA and SUDEP risk using the revised SUDEP Risk Inventory (rSUDEP-7).
Methods: Identified adults with epilepsy (AWE) who underwent PSG 2004-2016 at Cleveland Clinic. OSA was defined as apnea-hypopnea index (AHI)- ≥-5/h sleep; moderate/severe OSA as AHI≥15.

Introduction: Continuing Medical Education (CME) is vital for healthcare professionals to remain current with advancements and maintain their competence. In India, CME remains in its early stages, lacking a systematic approach. There is a pressing need for a comprehensive framework that addresses needs assessment, program development, accreditation, and credit allocation.

Objective: Multilevel airway surgery for obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSA) has benefits in improving sleep quality, but its effect on polysomnography (PSG) and 6-minute walk test (6MWT) parameters, including walking distance and cardiopulmonary performance, in patients with poor pre-operative cardiopulmonary performance remains understudied, which should be further investigated.
Methods: This prospective pilot study enrolled 27 consecutive OSA patients with poor pre-operative 6MWT results. All patients received multilevel OSA surgery, and the alterations of sleep parameters and 6MWT profiles were studied.

The histone-lysine N-methyltransferase 2D (KMT2D), tumor suppressor gene which is the major component of histone H3K4 mono-methyltransferase in mammals and has significant role in regulation of a gene which are frequently mutated that lead to many different types of cancers that include non-Hodgkin lymphoma, medulloblastoma, prostate carcinoma, renal carcinoma, bladder carcinoma and lung carcinoma. KMT2D gene epigenetic alterations in histone methylation play a significant role for the initiation and progression of cancers from pre-cancerous lesions, yet its complete function in oncogenesis remains unsolved. KMT2D deficiency - loss are thought of initial mediators of cancer development and cell migration such as B-cell lymphoma, medulloblastoma, melanoma, pancreas and lung cancer.

Sleep tracking by consumers is becoming increasingly prevalent; yet, few studies have evaluated the accuracy of such devices. We sought to evaluate the accuracy of three devices (Oura Ring Gen3, Fitbit Sense 2, and Apple Watch Series 8) compared to the gold standard sleep assessment (polysomnography (PSG)). Thirty-five participants (aged 20-50 years) without a sleep disorder were enrolled in a single-night inpatient study, during which they wore the Oura Ring, Fitbit, and Apple Watch, and were monitored with PSG.

The 'first night effect' (FNE) is a well-known phenomenon in polysomnographic (PSG) sleep studies, resulting in significant variations in the macrostructure of wakefulness and sleep states, particularly between the initial and subsequent sleep recording sessions. The FNE phenomenon during sleep has been studied in various species, revealing complex variations between several sessions of sleep recording. The present study used a non-invasive PSG method to examine differences between various vigilance states in four adult female dromedary camels during 4 consecutive nights and days of sleep recording.

Objective: Polysomnography (PSG) is unique in diagnosing sleep disorders, notably obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Despite its advantages, manual PSG data grading is time-consuming and laborious. Thus, this research evaluated a deep learning-based automated scoring system for respiratory events in sleep-disordered breathing patients.

Background: From a healthcare professional's perspective, the use of ChatGPT (Open AI), a large language model (LLM), offers huge potential as a practical and economic digital assistant. However, ChatGPT has not yet been evaluated for the interpretation of polysomnographic results in patients with suspected obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Aims/objectives: To evaluate the agreement of polysomnographic result interpretation between ChatGPT-4o and a board-certified sleep physician and to shed light into the role of ChatGPT-4o in the field of medical decision-making in sleep medicine.

(1) The European Union Driver License Committee recently developed a questionnaire as a screening tool for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), named the European Obstructive Sleep Apnea Screening (EUROSAS) questionnaire for drivers. The aim of the current study was to investigate the diagnostic performance of the EUROSAS to predict risk of OSA in professional male drivers. (2) Fifty-eight drivers were included in the current study.

Introduction Asthma is one of the serious health problems among children, accounting for a major proportion of lost school days due to absenteeism, decreased academic performances, and lesser social interactions. It can impair a child's activities like playing sports and also their sleeping pattern with frequent school absenteeism. In South India, only a few school-based studies to determine the prevalence of asthma have been carried out, and even fewer studies are done in community settings in rural areas of Tamil Nadu.

Objective: Levodopa-induced dyskinesia (DYS) adversely affects the quality of life of Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. However, few studies have focused on the relationship between DYS and sleep and electroencephalography (EEG). Our study aimed to establish the objective physiological indicators assessed by polysomnography (PSG) that are associated with DYS in PD patients.
