Background: Plasmalogens, the primary phospholipids in the brain, possess intrinsic antioxidant properties and are crucial components of the myelin sheath surrounding neuronal axons. While their neuroprotective effects have been demonstrated in Alzheimer's disease, their potential benefits in spinal cord injury remain unexplored. This study investigates the reparative effects of plasmalogens on spinal cord injury and the underlying mechanisms.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the possible mechanism through which acupuncture protects ovaries with Poor Ovarian Response (POR) in rats based on microRNA (miRNA).
Methods: Thirty-six SPF SD female non-pregnant rats aged 8 weeks were randomly divided into the blank group, model group, and acupuncture group, with 12 rats in each group. According to the group, the rats were given gavage of Tripterygium wilfordii polyglycosides suspension for 14 days to establish the model of POR, and then the rats were treated with acupuncture for 2 weeks, once a day, for 20 minutes.

Rechargeable Zn-air batteries (RZABs) are poised for industrial application, yet they require low-cost, high-performance catalysts that efficiently facilitate both the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The pivotal challenge lies in designing multimetal active sites and optimizing the carbon skeleton structure to modulate catalyst activity. In this study, we introduce a novel hierarchical porous carbon-supported FeCoNi bifunctional catalyst, synthesized via a spray combustion method.

The increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance, driven by the overuse and misuse of conventional antibiotics, has become a critical public health concern. Photothermal antibacterial therapy (PTAT) utilizes heat generated by photothermal agents under light exposure to inhibit bacterial growth without inducing resistance, attracting more and more attention. Quinoid conjugated polymers, especially para-azaquinodimethane (AQM) polymer, are a class of organic semiconductors known for efficient π-electron delocalization, near-infrared absorption, and narrow bandgap, showing great potential in the application of photothermal reagents.

With the resolution revolution of cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and the rapid development of image processing technology, cryo-EM has become an indispensable experimental method for determining the three-dimensional structures of biological macromolecules. However, structural modeling from cryo-EM maps remains a difficult task for intermediate-resolution maps. In such cases, detection of protein secondary structures and nucleic acid locations in an EM map is of great value for model building of the map.

Although aliovalent ion substitution is an important strategy for enhancing ionic conductivity in halide electrolytes, the choice of doping ions is often restricted to tetravalent ions, and investigations into the intrinsic origin of the doping mechanism are lacking. In this work, we investigated the effects of Zr, Ta and W doping on the crystal structure and ionic conductivity of yttrium-based rare-earth halides. Only Zr achieves fast ion diffusion in both the (001) and (002) crystal planes by affecting the volume of the octahedron and the tetrahedral interstitial space, whereas Ta significantly enhances the ion diffusion rate in the (001) crystal plane while suppressing it in the (002) plane, and W does the opposite.

The actual ORR catalytic activity of perovskite materials is significantly lower than the theoretical value due to their inherently low specific surface area and significant segregation of inactive oxygen ions on the surface. This study reports a sol-gel synthesis approach that employs glucose as a structural regulator to fabricate LaSrMnO (LSM) perovskites. Compared with the original LSM (12.

Objective: Prior studies have shown that parental psychological control is linked to an increased risk of mobile phone addiction. Nevertheless, few studies have analyzed the potential mechanisms that may mediate or moderate this association. This study aims to investigate the role of loneliness as a mediator in the relationship between parental psychological control and mobile phone addiction, as well as the potential moderating effect of physical activity on this mediation process.

Super enhancers are a unique class of enhancers that possess a distinct structure and mechanism, which enable them to exhibit stronger gene transcription regulatory function than classical enhancers, thereby regulating cellular activities. In tumor samples, super enhancers have been identified as crucial players in the development and progression of tumor cells, opening up new avenues for cancer research and treatment. This review provides a concise overview of various models regarding super enhancer assembly and activation, examining the mechanisms through which tumor cells acquire or activate these enhancers and regulate carcinogenic transcription programs.

Background: We developed a prognostic model to evaluate the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) of patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (u-HCC) treated with Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy of infusion oxaliplatin, fluorouracil and leucovorin (FOLFOX-HAIC).
Methods: This model was based on a retrospective study of u-HCC patients treated with the FOLFOX-HAIC (oxaliplatin 130 mg/m, leucovorin 400 mg/m, fluorouracil bolus 400 mg/m on day 1, and fluorouracil infusion 2,400 mg/m for 23-46 h, once every 3-4 weeks). We divided the patients into a training cohort and a validation cohort, used LASSO regression construct prognostic models, predict patient's OS and PFS based on nomograms of models.

Reproductive hormones associated with the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis are closely linked to bone homeostasis. In this study, we demonstrate that Gonadotropin inhibitory hormone (GnIH, one of the key reproductive hormones upstream of the HPG axis) plays an indispensable role in regulating bone homeostasis and maintaining bone mass. We find that deficiency of GnIH or its receptor Gpr147 leads to a significant reduction in bone mineral density (BMD) in mice primarily by enhancement of osteoclast activation in vivo and in vitro.
