The current research revealed a strong link between lipid reprogramming and dysregulated lipid metabolism to the genesis and development of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Pathologically, ccRCC exhibits a high concentration of lipid droplets within the cytoplasm. HIF-2α expression has previously been demonstrated to be elevated in ccRCC caused by mutations in the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) gene, which plays a vital role in the development of renal cell carcinoma.

Department of Chemistry, Centre for Atomic Engineering of Advanced Materials, Key Laboratory of Structure and Functional Regulation of Hybrid Materials of Ministry of Education, Institutes of Physical Science and Information Technology, Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Chemistry for Inorganic/Organic Hybrid Functionalized Materials, Anhui University Hefei Anhui 230601 China

Controlling symmetrical or asymmetrical growth has allowed a series of novel nanomaterials with prominent physicochemical properties to be produced. However, precise and continuous size growth based on a preserved template has long been a challenging pursuit, yet little has been achieved in terms of manipulation at the atomic level. Here, a correlated silver cluster series has been established, enabling atomically precise manipulation of symmetrical and asymmetrical surface structure expansions of metal nanoclusters.

Warfarin is a commonly employed anticoagulant drug aimed at rapidly reaching the optimal international normalized ratio (INR), potentially reducing the hospitalization time in clinical settings. However, limited research has been conducted on the influencing factors and the safety implications of promptly reaching the target INR range in patients with valvular heart disease who have undergone valve replacement or repair. The present study aimed to assess the factors related to the safety considerations of rapidly reaching the target INR range in patients treated with warfarin.

Obesity is a pervasive global health challenge that substantially reduces the quality of life of millions of individuals and impedes social and economic advancement. Obesity is an independent risk factor that contributes to a range of chronic non-communicable metabolic diseases, significantly affecting energy metabolism, mental health, cancer susceptibility, sleep quality, and other physiological processes. The PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, a significant glucose, lipid, and protein metabolism regulator, is integral to cellular growth, survival, and apoptosis.

The development of ultraviolet (UV) shielding materials is of great importance to protect human health and prevent the degradation of organic matter. However, the synthesis of highly efficient UV shielding polymer nanocomposites is currently limited by the agglomeration of inorganic anti-UV nanoparticles (NPs) within the polymer matrix and the limited absorption spectrum of UV shielding agents. In this study, highly effective manganese doped carbon quantum dots@halloysite nanotube composites (Mn-CDs@HNTs/PAS) were successfully synthesized by loading manganese-doped carbon quantum dots (Mn-CDs) into UV shielding effective halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) via the solvothermal method, followed by polymerization modification (PAS).

Alluaudite-type NaFe(SO) (NFS) with high theoretical energy density is regarded as the promising cathode of sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), while practical rate and cyclic performances are still hindered by intrinsic poor conductivity. Here, a facile method is developed, collaborating high-boiling organic solvents assisted colloidal synthesis (HOS-CS) with sintering for tailoring NaFe(SO) nanocrystals decorated by conductive carbon network toward high-rate-capability cathode of SIBs. Impressively, the as-prepared NaFe(SO)@MC provides 60.

The cost-effective and scalable synthesis and patterning of soft nanomaterial composites with improved electrical conductivity and mechanical stretchability remains challenging in wearable devices. This work reports a scalable, low-cost fabrication approach to directly create and pattern crumpled porous graphene/NiS nanocomposites with high mechanical stretchability and electrical conductivity through laser irradiation combined with electrodeposition and a pre-strain strategy. With modulated mechanical stretchability and electrical conductivity, the crumpled graphene/NiS nanocomposite can be readily patterned into target geometries for application in a standalone stretchable sensing platform.

Institute of Functional Nano and Soft Materials (FUNSOM), Jiangsu Key Laboratory for Carbon-Based Functional Materials and Devices, Soochow University, Suzhou, 215123, P. R. China.

Gold (Au) nanoclustersare promising photocatalysts for biomedicine, sensing, and environmental remediation. However, the short carrier lifetime, inherent instability, and unclear charge transfer mechanism hinder their application. Herein, the Au nanoclusters decorated with three different isomers of o-Aminophenol, m-Aminophenol, and p-Aminophenol are synthesized, namely o-Au, m-Au, and p-Au, which achieve efficient hydrogen peroxide (HO) photoproduction through two-step one-electron oxygen reduction reaction (ORR).

In sodium-ion batteries, the layered transition metal oxides used as cathode often experience interlayer sliding of interlayer spacing and lattice variations during charge/discharge, leading to structural damage and capacity degradation. To address this challenge, a La doping strategy guided by Bayesian optimization has been employed to prepare the high-performance O3-NaNiMnCuLaO (NMCL) cathode material. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the O 2p orbital overlaps with the t orbital of transition metals in NMCL, facilitating the formation of Na-O-La bonds and promoting the oxygen redox reaction kinetics.

Half-metallicity, enabling 100% spin polarization, is pivotal for spintronics but remains challenging to achieve in low-dimensional materials. Using first-principles calculations, we theoretically propose an experimentally feasible two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic framework (MOF) magnetic semiconductor, Cr(TCNB) (TCNB = 1,2,4,5-tetracyanobenzene). This monolayer can be exfoliated from a Ag(100) substrate due to its low exfoliation energy of 0.

Recent progress in electrochemical recycling of waste NdFeB magnets.

Chem Commun (Camb)

January 2025

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Inner Mongolia University, Hohhot 010021, P. R. China.

Neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) magnets are critical components in green energy technologies and have received increasing attention due to the limited availability of the raw materials, specifically rare earth elements (REEs). The supply risks associated with primary mining of RE ores, which have significant environmental impacts, underscore the necessity for recycling RE secondary resources. Waste NdFeB magnets, generated during manufacturing processes and recovered from end-of-life products, represent valuable RE secondary resources.

Currently, the development of polymeric hole-transporting materials (HTMs) lags behind that of small-molecule HTMs in inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs). A critical challenge is that conventional polymeric HTMs are incapable of forming ultra-thin and conformal coatings like self-assembly monolayers (SAMs), especially for substrates with rough surface morphology. Herein, we address this challenge by designing anchorable polymeric HTMs (CP1 to CP5).
