The incidence of hyperuricemia has increased recently, posing a serious threat to public health. Hyperuricemia is associated with an increased risk of gout, chronic kidney disease (CKD), obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypertriglyceridaemia, metabolic dysfunction‑associated steatotic liver disease, acute kidney injury, coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease (CVD). These diseases are commonly accompanied by varying degrees of kidney damage.

Following the publication of this paper, it was drawn to the Editors' attention by a concerned reader that certain of the TUNEL assay data shown in Fig. 4B were strikingly similar to data appearing in different form in another article written by different authors at different research institutes that had already been submitted for publication to the journal (which has subsequently been retracted). Owing to the fact that these contentious data had already apparently been submitted for publication prior to the receipt of this paper to , the Editor has decided that this paper should be retracted from the Journal.

Proteins are some of the most important components in living organisms. When nanoparticles enter a living system, they swiftly interact with proteins to produce the so-called "protein corona", which depicts the adsorption of proteins on large nanoparticles (normally tens to hundreds of nanometers). However, the sizes of small nanoparticles (typically, fluorescent nanomaterials such as quantum dots, noble metal nanoclusters, carbon dots, ) are less than 10 nm, which are comparable or even much smaller than those of proteins.

Bupleurum, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herb, is widely used in China and other Asian countries to manage chronic liver inflammation and viral hepatitis. Saikosaponin D (SSD), a triterpenoid saponin extracted from Bupleurum, exhibits extensive pharmacological properties, including anti‑inflammatory, antioxidant, anti‑apoptotic, anti‑fibrotic and anti‑cancer effects, making it a therapeutic candidate for numerous diseases. Clarifying the targets and molecular mechanisms underlying TCM compounds is essential for scientifically validating TCM's therapeutic roles in disease prevention and treatment, as well as for identifying novel therapeutic targets and lead compounds.

In this work, magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIP) capable of selectively recognizing and adsorbing cordycepin was prepared. The MMIP was prepared using cordycepin as the template molecule, methacrylic acid and acrylamide as the functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the crosslinker. The MMIP was analyzed using various techniques including transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer and x-ray diffraction.

Species of the genus Ganoderma are important medicinal and edible mushrooms, with polysaccharides being its main active ingredient. The submerged fermentation of Ganoderma is an important source of polysaccharides in the mycelia. In this study, a single factor test and an orthogonal test were employed to optimize the medium and fermentation conditions with the objective of obtaining a high content of polysaccharide in the liquid submerged fermentation culture mycelia of Ganoderma species.

The phosphaguanidinate rare-earth-metal bis(aminobenzyl) complexes [(PhP)C(NCHPr-2,6)]Ln(CHCH NMe-) (Ln = Y(1-Y) and Lu(1-Lu)) were synthesized by the protonolysis of (PhP)[C(NHR)(NR)] (R = 2,6-(Pr)CH) with Ln(CHCHNMe-) (Ln = Y and Lu). Interestingly, the ring-opening rearrangement product [-MeNCHCHC(NCHPr-2,6)]Lu(CHCHNMe-)[O(CH)PPh] (2) was obtained when the acid-base reaction was carried out in THF solution at 60 °C for 36 h. Additionally, the trinuclear homometallic yttrium multimethyl/methylidene complex {[(PhP)C(NCHPr-2,6)]Y(μ-Me)}(μ-Me)(μ-CH) (3) was synthesized by the treatment of 1-Y with AlMe (2 equiv.

MicroRNA (miRNA)-based therapy holds significant potential; however, its structural limitations pose a challenge to the full exploitation of its biomedical functionality. Framework nucleic acids are promising owing to their transportability, biocompatibility, and functional editability. MiRNA-125 is embedded into a nucleic acid framework to create an enzyme-responsive nanoparachute (NP), enhancing the miRNA loading capacity while preserving the attributes of small-scale framework nucleic acids and circumventing the uncertainty related to RNA exposure in conventional loading methods.

Hydrophobic organic pollutants in aqueous environments are challenging to biodegrade due to limited contact between microorganisms, the pollutants and the electron acceptor, particularly under anaerobic or anoxic conditions. Here, we propose a novel strategy that uses inexpensive, dual-function elemental sulfur (S) to enhance biodegradation. Using petroleum hydrocarbons as the target pollutants, we demonstrated that hydrophobic and nonpolar S° can concentrate hydrocarbons while simultaneously serving as an electron acceptor to enrich hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria.

() residues polysaccharide (FVRP) is a high molecular weight polysaccharide with diverse bioactivities extracted from residues (FVR). However, high molecular weight polysaccharides have been shown to face significant challenges in crossing the cell membrane barrier, thereby limiting their absorption and application in the body. Therefore, an ultrasonic-assisted HO-Fe method was employed for the first time to degrade FVRP, resulting in the production of a new polysaccharide, FVRPF.

Among these, the emergence of the gene represents a significant threat to public health, especially since carbapenem antibiotics are vital for treating severe infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. This study aimed to characterize the antibiotic resistance features of -positive strains isolated from waterfowl in several regions of China and elucidate the dissemination patterns of the gene.

Under industrial conditions, efficient catalytic oxidation of Chlorinated volatile organic compounds is an important challenge, not only because of the poisonous effect of Chlorinated volatile organic compounds on catalysts, but also because of their high reaction temperature, which has an adverse impact on industrialization. In a recent article ( Ru/CeO ) [1], we developed a strategy for preparing a simple and efficient monolithic catalyst for the catalytic combustion of chlorobenzene. Ru/CeO was loaded on the industrial support cordierite by a Sol-gel method.

Dermal white adipose tissue (dWAT), distinguished by its origin from cells within the dermis and independence from subcutaneous fat tissue, has garnered significant attention for its non-metabolic functions. Characterized by strong communication with other components of the skin, dWAT mediates the proliferation and recruitment of various cell types by releasing adipogenic and inflammatory factors. Here, we focus on the modulatory role of dWAT at different stages during wound healing, highlighting its ability to mediate the adipocyte-to-myofibroblast transition which plays a pivotal role in the physiology and pathology processes of skin fibrosis, scarring, and aging.

Lead oxides (PbO, 1 ≤ ≤ 2) are promising high-capacity and low-cost anodes for lithium ion batteries (LIBs). However, the huge lithiation-induced volume expansion of conventional large-sized PbO particles leads to severe electrode pulverization with poor cycling stability. Herein, a rare mixed-valence PbO with a unique hierarchical architecture of nanoparticle-assembled interconnected hollow spheres (denoted PbO NAHSs) is crafted by introducing polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) into the solution of generating β-PbO microspheres (MSs), which is exploited for the first time as a potential advanced anode material for LIBs.
