Angstrom-Scale Defect-Free Crystalline Membrane for Sieving Small Organic Molecules.

Adv Mater

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Materials-Oriented Chemical Engineering, College of Chemical Engineering, Nanjing Tech University, 30 Puzhu Road, Nanjing, 211816, P. R. China.

Crystalline membranes, represented by the metal-organic framework (MOF) with well-defined angstrom-sized apertures, have shown great potential for molecular separation. Nevertheless, it remains a challenge to separate small molecules with very similar molecular size differences due to angstrom-scale defects during membrane formation. Herein, a stepwise assembling strategy is reported for constructing MOF membranes with intrinsic angstrom-sized lattice aperture lattice to separate organic azeotropic mixtures separation.

In recent years, single-atom catalysts (SACs) with separated active centers and high atom utilization have grown significantly as a significant area of catalytic research. In catalytic applications, SACs of various kinds have demonstrated exceptional performance, so the study of the catalytic mechanism of SACs provides a clearer direction for the preparation of catalysts with high performance. Strong linkages between the single atoms and the support are necessary to overcome the tendency of single atoms to aggregate into clusters, which is called metal-support interaction (MSI).

Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) with strong exciton effects have enabled diverse light emitting devices, however, their Ångstrom thickness makes it challenging to efficiently manipulate exciton emission by themselves. Although their nanostructured multi-layer counterparts can effectively manipulate optical field at deep subwavelength thickness scale, these indirect band gap multi-layer TMDs are lack of strong luminescence, hindering their applications in light emitting devices. Here, the integration of monolayer TMDs is presented with nanostructured multi-layer TMDs, combining both strong exciton emission and optical manipulation in a single ultra-thin platform.

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Food Processing and Quality Control, College of Food Science and Technology, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing 210000, PR China. Electronic address:

Transport proteins are essential for bacterial resistance to antibiotics and toxins, but their mechanisms remain poorly understood in Bacillus subtilis. In the present study, overexpression of yoeA enhanced resistance to various antibiotics, with its expression induced by these antibiotics, especially penicillin and plipastatin. The ΔyoeA strain exhibited significant growth inhibition at 100 μg/mL of plipastatin, while as high as 10,000 μg/mL of iturin/surfactin are required to achieve comparable inhibition, suggesting a higher sensitivity of ΔyoeA to plipastatin.

Jihua Hengye Electronic Materials Co. Ltd., Foshan, Guangdong Province 528200, P. R. China.

Charge generation layers (CGLs) play crucial roles in determining the electroluminescence (EL) performance of tandem organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, acquiring negligible voltage drops across the CGL unit and high-efficiency multiplications remains challenging. Here, we propose barrier-free strategies to compose a high-performance p-i-n type CGL intermediate by introducing a Yb/HI-9 modification at the heterojunction and a novel n-dopant, Yb:1,3-bis(9-phenyl-1,10-phenanthrolin-2-yl)benzene (mdPPhen), as the n-CGL.

In semiconductor catalysts, rational doping of nonmetallic elements holds significant scientific and technological importance for enhancing photocatalytic performance. Here, using a one-step hydrothermal technique, we synthesized iodine-doped BiOCl composite and evaluated the impact of iodine doping on its photocatalytic capability for organic dye degradation under visible light irradiation. In this study, we demonstrate that the introduction of iodide ions not only provides an ideal built-in electric field (BIEF) for BiOCl but also induces the generation of additional oxygen vacancies (OVs).

An aptamer sensor based on AgNPs@MOF for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy detection of sulfadimethoxine in food.

Mikrochim Acta

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials, Jilin University, Changchun, 130012, People's Republic of China.

A highly sensitive aptamer sensor (aptasensor) is proposed based on metal-organic frameworks-silver nanoparticles (AgNPs@MOF) to detect sulfadimethoxine (SDM) by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). AgNPs@MOF with SERS activity was successfully fabricated by synthesizing AgNPs in situ on the surface of MIL-101(Fe), and SDM aptamer and Raman reporter 4-aminophenthiophenol (4-ATP) were selected as specific recognition elements and signal probes, respectively. When SDM was absent, the SDM aptamers were effectively adsorbed on the surface of AgNPs@MOF, thus keeping AgNPs@MOF in a dispersed state, resulting in a weakened SERS signal of 4-ATP.
