Nucleation is a critical step that determines the assembly pathway and the structure and functions of the peptide assemblies. However, the dynamic evolution of interactions between nucleating agents and peptides, as well as between peptides themselves during the nucleation process, remains elusive. Herein, we show that the heterogeneous nucleating agent carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) can promote the nucleation of Aβ (KF) peptide.

The dispersion of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) in suspensions determines the quality of the CNC-reinforced composites. Before being mixed into the composite matrix, stable suspensions must maintain a well-dispersed state, requiring proper design strategies to prevent agglomeration and precipitation. Considering the volume fraction, aspect ratio, and zeta potential, this paper proposes a coarse-grained model to simulate CNC clustering and an experimental program to observe accelerated precipitation of CNCs.

As an emerging class of hybrid materials, donor-acceptor (D-A) hybrid crystals with photoactive organic and inorganic components have gradually become an ideal platform for photochromic materials. Wherein the most available organic components are electron-poor naphthalenediimide, pyridinium, and triazine derivatives, inorganic units are electron-rich polyoxometalates and metal halides. Herein, we introduced pyridinium moieties into the naphthalenediimide core by conjugated bonds so as to increase the electron deficiency of organic species for enhanced photochromic properties.
