Micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) released from plastic containers pose significant food safety concerns; however, their release patterns in different containers along with their impacts on other pollutants remain poorly understood. This study revealed that feeding bottles, food containers, and paper cups released approximately 10 microplastics and 10 nanoplastics after hot water treatment. These released MNPs were nontoxic in six cell types, whereas they significantly amplified the toxicity of disinfection by-products (DBPs), a widely existing contaminant in drinking water.

The conductivity of Zn-MOF-on-Co-MOF synthesized by one-pot method is improved by searching for the optimum carbonization temperature, which overcomes the limitation of traditional MOF. In order to further enhance electron transfer, the mesoporous PtPdCo trimetal was introduced, which provided considerable load capacity for methylene blue (MB) and reverse complementary DNA (sDNA), and also showed excellent catalytic activity for MB. In this study, the conductivity of aptasensor was improved by modifying carbonized MOF as the base material.

Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, a pathogenic ciliate, is a crucial pathogen of freshwater fish and can result in severe economic loss in the aquaculture industry worldwide. It is necessary to develop a sensitive and accurate method for detecting I. multifiliis in farming environments and fish skin and gills to protect fishes from infection of the parasite due to a lack of both safe and effective treatment drugs.

There are two bottlenecks in the treatment of TMJOA (temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis): ① lacking of easy-to-use repairing materials for damaged condylar cartilage; ② local inflammation interfering with in situ regeneration. In response to them, we constructed a biomimetic tilapia type I gelatin/hyaluronic acid (TGI/HA) hydrogel in this paper. It was endowed with the capability to immunoregulate mircoenvironment and concurrently induce regeneration in multiple ways.

Microfluidic droplets, with their unique properties and broad applications, are essential in in chemical, biological, and materials synthesis research. Despite the flourishing studies on artificial intelligence-accelerated microfluidics, most research efforts have focused on the upstream design phase of microfluidic systems. Generating user-desired microfluidic droplets still remains laborious, inefficient, and time-consuming.

Terahertz (THz) emission arising from the second-order nonlinear photocurrent effects in two-dimensional quantum materials has attracted significant attention due to its high efficiency and ease of polarization manipulation. However, in centrosymmetric quantum materials, the terahertz emission is typically suppressed, caused by the directional symmetry of the photocurrent generated under femtosecond laser excitation. In this work, we report that wafer-scale type-II Dirac semimetal PtTe with lattice centrosymmetry exhibits remarkably high THz emission efficiency (2 orders of magnitude greater than that of a ZnTe nonlinear crystal with equivalent thickness) and pronounced polarization sensitivity at room temperature.

Herein, a supramolecular DNA nanodevice was formed via the rolling circle amplification (RCA) and hybridization chain reaction (HCR) cascade reaction on a tetrahedral DNA nanostructure (TDN) to achieve simultaneous sensitive detection and intracellular imaging of dual-miRNAs related to liver cancer. The supramolecular DNA nanodevice effectively addressed the limitations of low probe loading capacity in traditional TDN nanodevices by enriching plenty of signal probes around a single TDN, significantly enhancing the fluorescence signal. Impressively, the supramolecular DNA nanodevice with a TDN fulcrum and dense DNA structure imparted the nanodevice with strong rigidity, ensuring the stability of the signal probes to decrease aggregation quenching for further increasing the fluorescence response.

Rapeseed meal (RSM), a protein-rich byproduct, holds potential as a high-quality animal feed, but nitrile compounds derived from glucosinolates (GSLs) in RSM pose a toxicity risk. Nitrilases, enzymes that hydrolyze toxic nitriles to carboxylic acids, offer a potential solution for detoxification. However, the low thermal stability of nitrilases restricts their industrial applicability.

We aimed to investigate whether estrogen receptor (ER) status affects the predictive role of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) immunohistochemistry (IHC) score on the efficacy of neoadjuvant treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer. This retrospective study comprised 167 individuals diagnosed with HER2-positive invasive breast cancer who had undergone neoadjuvant treatment and surgery. Uni- and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed on the relationship between the HER2 IHC score and total pathological complete response (tpCR), breast pathological complete response (bpCR), or axillary partial response (apCR).

Design and synthesis of high-performance single-molecule magnets (SMMs) have long been a research focus. Inspired by the best dysprosium(III) metallocene SMMs and dysprosium(III) bis(methanediide) SMMs, we assumed dysprosium SMMs, which had electrical neutrality by combining the two types of ligands. As the Dy center is coordinated by one (substituted-)cyclopentadienyl (Cp) ligand and one methanediide ({C(PPhNSiMe)}) ligand on the axial sites, this ideal structure with linear C-Dy-Cp would strengthen the magnetic anisotropy and exhibit excellent SMM properties.

The varied material and the inherent complex microstructure make predicting the effective stiffness of fused deposition modeling (FDM) printed polylactic acid (PLA)/carbon fiber (CF) composite a troublesome problem. This article proposes a microstructure scanning electron microscope (SEM) mapping modeling and numerical mean procedure to calculate the effective stiffness of FDM printing PLA/CF laminates. The printed PLA/CF parts were modeled as a continuum of 3D uniform linear elasticity with orthotropic anisotropy, and their elastic behavior was characterized by orthotropic constitutive relations.

Organic cathode materials are widely considered as highly promising for aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) due to their tunable properties, low cost, and ease of processing and synthesis. Benzothiadiazoles have demonstrated significant potential as organic electrode materials in AZIBs, owing to their strong electron-accepting capabilities and the presence of multiple reversible redox sites in anthraquinone. In this study, we designed a polymer, poly(2-methyl-6-(7-methyl-5,6-dinitrobenzo[][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)anthracene-9,10-dione) (PBDQ), with multielectron transfer capability through a copolymerization approach.
