The effects of glass transition and stickiness on the direct spray drying of reconstituted skim milk (RSM) fermented with GG (LGG) were investigated. The fermented RSM did not spray dry properly due to severe wall depositions; however, it dried well (comparable to the control; RSM with resuspended LGG cells) when skim milk powder (SMP) was added. Adding SMP significantly increased the glass transition and sticky point temperatures of spray-dried powder, ranging from 18.

The application of existing ternary betaine (Be)-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs) faces inevitable limitations due to the low regenerability and water absorption capability of the DESs. In this study, three ternary Be-based DESs with different molar ratios were prepared by adding the promoter diethanolamine (DEA) to the binary system of Be and ethylene glycol (EG). The effects of DEA, temperature, and flow rate on CO absorption by the Be-based DESs were then investigated.

Monocrystalline graphene growth has always been an intriguing research focus. Argon (Ar) is merely viewed as a carrier gas due to its inert chemical properties throughout the whole growth procedure by the chemical vapor deposition method. In this work, the influence of Ar on temperature and flow fields was investigated in consideration of its physical parameter difference among all involved gases.

The pore structure of shale is a key factor affecting the occurrence and flow of shale gas, and fractal dimensions can be used to quantitatively describe the complexity of the shale pore structure. In this study, the Leping Formation shale in the Junlian block of the southern Sichuan Basin was investigated. The pore structure characteristics of this shale were examined via low-pressure CO adsorption (LP-COA) and low-temperature N adsorption (LT-NA) methods via field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), shale geochemistry, and mineral composition analysis.

The primary function of terminators is to terminate transcription in gene expression. Although some studies have suggested that terminators also contribute positively to upstream gene expression, the extent and underlying mechanism of this effect remain largely unexplored. Here, the correlation between terminating strength and upstream mRNA stability was investigated by constructing a terminator mutation library through randomizing 5 nucleotides, assisted by FlowSeq technology, terminator variants were categorized based on the downstream fluorescence intensity, followed by high-throughput sequencing.

During the extraction of membrane proteins from oil bodies (OBs), organic solvents dissolve the lipid core and precipitate proteins through solvent stress. Here the effects of solvent type and defatting sequence on the composition and structure of membrane proteins were investigated SDS-PAGE, FTIR, and SEM-EDS. High purity oleosin (86 %) was obtained by treatment first with a Floch solution and then with cold acetone and petroleum ether after twice washing OBs with urea.

The main bottleneck in the catalytic combustion of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs) is deactivation and the production of chlorine-containing byproducts originating from the chlorine species deposited on the catalyst. Herein, Ru supported on SnO (Ru/SnO) was prepared with the lattice matching principle. As RuO and SnO are both rutile phases, Ru species were present as highly dispersed RuO particles on the Ru/SnO catalyst.

Tin-based sulfides, possessing a unique layered structure and a high theoretical capacity, stand as highly prospective contenders for anode materials in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Nevertheless, the pronounced volume expansion that occurs during lithium storage and poor capacity retention have limited its progress toward commercialization. Herein, we designed and prepared a SnS/RGO composite with a three-dimensional porous structure by sulfurizing the SnO(OH)/GO precursor.

Vascular regeneration plays a vital role in tissue repair yet is drastically impaired in those with a spinal cord injury (SCI). Pericytes are of great significance as they are entwined with vessel-specific endothelial cells and actively contribute to maintaining the spinal cord's vascular network. Within the neurovascular unit (NVU), subtypes of pericytes characterized by various markers such as PDGFR-β, Desmin, CD146, and NG-2 are involved in vascular regeneration in SCI repair.
