Background: Oncostatin M (OSM), a 28 kDa glycoprotein 130 pleiotropic cytokine belonging to the interleukin-6 (IL-6) family, is mainly produced by neutrophils, activated T cells, monocytes, and macrophages. In response to tissue injury, it may stimulate the production of IL-6 alone or act synergistically with IL-6 or TNF-α contributing to the inflammatory cycle. Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease resulting from a dysbiotic bacterial community, which has a strong association with increased OSM production.

Background: Mandibular fracture is the second most common fracture of facial bone, next to nasal bone. Twenty-five to forty percent of mandibular fractures involve the condyle. In the literature, there exists no consensus "gold standard" treatment for mandibular condylar fractures, and there is a continuing debate on whether condylar fractures should undergo closed or open reduction.

Objectives: We compared the loads at which the implant holders from Astra Tech (AST) (AstraOsseoSpeed) and Osseotite Certain failed under static compression after experiencing fatigue, as well as the gap that resulted from dynamic loading between the implant-holder complexes.
Materials And Method: The ISO 14801 recommendation served as the foundation for the test protocol. Each brand's five implant-implant holder assemblies underwent dynamic loading.

Statement Of Problem: Dynamic computer-assisted surgery for dental implant placement has become popular, but systematic comparisons of the accuracy of computer-assisted surgery with static surgery are lacking.
Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine evidence on the difference in the accuracy of dynamic computer-assisted surgery compared with the static method for dental implant placement.
Material And Methods: A systematic search was conducted in 3 electronic databases: PubMed, Ovid, and Cochrane.

Background: In medico-legal investigations identification of skeletal remains is of utmost importance. The skeletal remains most commonly investigated are pelvic and skull bones with the mandible an important element to analyze sexual dimorphism. Mandibular ramus can differentiate between the two genders as the stages of mandibular development, growth rates, and duration are different in both genders.

Background: The status of the 5-year survival rate and loco-regional recurrence in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has remained unchanged over the decades. Recent advances in oral cancer research have revealed that the presence of molecular alterations in histologically tumor-free margins of OSCC has a prognostic significance and can aid in designing therapeutic strategies. However, the literature on molecular studies on histologically tumor-free margins is scant, especially in the Indian population.

Background: The determination of gender is of utmost importance for forensic science and medico-legal purposes. The mandibular bone may play a vital role in gender determination as it is the most dimorphic bone of the skull that is often recovered intact. In this respect, orthopantomograms are of great value in accurate age and sex estimation.

Aim: In Prosthodontics, during complete denture fabrication, conventional methods employed to determine occlusal vertical dimension require patient co-operation. Hence, the aim of the present study is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the 'cephalometric angular reconstruction' procedure in the calculation of these lost dimensions.
Settings And Design: Multicentric randomised clinical trial conducted in four dental hospitals.

An early identification of patients who are at an obvious increased risk of osteoporosis and subsequent high risk of pathological bone fractures is important to prevent morbidity and its subsequent impact on the quality of life of the affected patients. Dental professionals have a chance of identifying such cases in their very initial stages through routinely prescribed dental radiographs. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of gender and age on different parameters of alveolar bone loss using orthopantomograph (OPG) as an aid to identify patients with low bone mineral density (BMD).

Background: The free fibula flap (FFF) has proved to be an adequate adjunct tool in the reconstruction of defects following cancer ablation. Although various investigation tools in the past have been proved to be adequate to study the blood supply of the various trunks of arteries, for the survival of graft, the color Doppler flow study (CDF) can be done for the accurate examination of various perforators for the same in the lower limbs prior to its harvest.
Materials And Methods: 40 patients were included in the study and were examined for free fibula flap tissue transfer via color Doppler study for the lower limb perforators.

Background: Currently, the knowledge on the clinical effect of 4% mangosteen gel as a local drug delivery, adjunctive to non-surgical periodontal therapy, on the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) total antioxidant capacity (TAOC) levels in chronic periodontitis patients is limited.
Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare the efficacy of 4% mangosteen gel and a placebo gel as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) on clinical and biochemical parameters in chronic periodontitis patients.
Material And Methods: A total of 50 test sites from 25 patients with Stage II Grade B periodontitis were randomly divided into 2 groups.

Introduction: The ideal surgical approach to treat craniomaxillofacial skeleton should provide maximum exposure of the facial skeleton, ensure less potential for injury to facial structures and allow for good cosmetic result. Several designs have been described such as hemicoronal, preauricular, lateral eyebrow, and bicoronal approach. Although the bicoronal flap gives superior long-term cosmetic results, it has a few disadvantages.

The surface modifications in teeth increase the retentive strength of cemented castings by providing micro as well as macro retentive ridge and groove patterns. Restoring the dental implants with cement-retained prosthesis is well known. Therefore, it is of interest to compare retentive property of implant abutments with and without circumferential grooves.
