To explore the therapeutic efficacies of three different doses of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell exosomes (hucMSC-EXO) on the injury of intestinal barrier structure and dysfunction in severely burned rats, and to identify the optimal dose of hucMSC-EXO for the repair of intestinal barrier injury. The hucMSC-EXO was isolated and identified by using an exosome extraction and purification kit. A total of 30 specific pathogen free (SPF) male Wistar rats (aged 6-8 weeks) were selected, and were randomly divided into five groups (=6) using a random number table: sham group, burn group, burn+100 μg hucMSC-EXO group (Burn+EXO100), burn+200 μg hucMSC-EXO group (Burn+EXO200), and burn+400 μg hucMSC-EXO group (Burn+EXO400).

Article Synopsis
  • Acne vulgaris affects many young people globally, linked with increased levels of C acnes; concerns about antibiotic resistance push for nonpharmacological treatments like microneedling and postbiotics.
  • The study evaluated the effectiveness of a postbiotic formulation alongside microneedling in treating mild-to-moderate facial acne in 20 Chinese patients, focusing on symptom improvement and safety.
  • Results indicated significant improvements in acne severity and skin appearance, with high patient satisfaction and no major adverse reactions, suggesting this combination may be a promising alternative for managing acne.

Background: It has been reported that COVID-19 patients have an increased risk of developing IBS; however, the underlying genetic mechanisms of these associations remain largely unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate potential shared SNPs, genes, proteins, and biological pathways between COVID-19 and IBS by assessing pairwise genetic correlations and cross-trait genetic analysis.

Materials And Methods: We assessed the genetic correlation between three COVID-19 phenotypes and IBS using linkage disequilibrium score regression (LDSC) and high-definition likelihood (HDL) methods.

FNIRS-Based Energy Landscape Analysis to Signify Brain Activity Dynamics of Individuals With Depression.

CNS Neurosci Ther

November 2024

Gansu Provincial Key Laboratory of Wearable Computing, School of Information Science and Engineering, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China.

Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is one of the most common mental disorders, and the number of individuals with MDD (MDDs) continues to increase. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an objective characterization and real-time detection method for depression. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a non-invasive tool, which is widely used in depression research.

State Key Laboratory of Integration and Innovation of Classic Formula and Modern Chinese Medicine, National Chinmedomics Research Center, National TCM Key Laboratory of Serum Pharmacochemistry, Metabolomics Laboratory, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, Harbin, China.

Shenhua Tablet (SHT), a Chinese herbal medicine comprising seven crude drugs, is utilized in the treatment of immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN). However, due to its complex composition, the chemical constituents of SHT in vitro are still incompletely known, which has restricted the comprehensive development and utilization of SHT in clinical practice. In the present study based on ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-orbitrap-linear ion trap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap-LTQ-MS) in data dependent acquisition mode, combining the accurate mass and structural information, the profiling and characterization of chemical constituents in SHT were carried out.

Aerobic glycolysis is a hallmark of cancer and is regulated by growth factors, protein kinases and transcription factors. However, it remains poorly understood how these components interact to regulate aerobic glycolysis coordinately. Here, we show that sine oculis homeobox 1 (SIX1) phosphorylation integrates growth factors (e.

Healing action of Interleukin-4 (IL-4) in acute and chronic inflammatory conditions: Mechanisms and therapeutic strategies.

Pharmacol Ther

January 2025

Henan Key Laboratory of Cardiac Remodeling and Transplantation, Zhengzhou Seventh People's Hospital, Zhengzhou, China; Nankai University School of Medicine, Tianjin, China; Sanquan Medical College, Xinxiang Medical University, Xinxiang, China; National Key Laboratory of Kidney Diseases, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

Interleukin-4 (IL-4), which is traditionally associated with inflammation, has emerged as a key player in tissue regeneration. Produced primarily by T-helper 2 (Th2) and other immune cells, IL-4 activates endogenous lymphocytes and promotes M2 macrophage polarization, both of which are crucial for tissue repair. Moreover, IL-4 stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of various cell types, contributing to efficient tissue regeneration, and shows promise for promoting tissue regeneration after injury.

Real-time diagnosis of sampled lesions in targeted biopsy of prostate Cancer using a novel tracer [Cu] Cu-DOTA-PSMA-3Q: a pilot preclinical study.

Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging

November 2024

Department of Nuclear Medicine, The First Medical Center, Chinese PLA General Hospital, 28 Fuxing Road, Haidian District, Beijing, 100853, China.

Purpose: Prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET) guided targeted biopsy has shown potential for detecting more prostate cancer (PCa) cases. However, relying exclusively on imaging may risk missing lesions, an issue that could be addressed by incorporating radiation-guided technology. Accordingly, we aimed to develop a novel PSMA radiotracer with a long half-life, [Cu]Cu-DOTA-PSMA-3Q, and evaluate its targeting accuracy.

Infections caused by () have emerged as a global public health concern because of high pathogenicity of this bacterium. Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have a lower likelihood of promoting drug resistance and offer targeted treatment, thereby reducing potential adverse effects; however, the therapeutic potential of mAbs targeting i has not been fully characterized. In this study, mAbs against the outer membrane proteins (OMPs) of were isolated in a high-throughput manner.

November 2024

Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, First Medical Center, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing, China.

It is well-known that childhood obesity is associated with various adult gastrointestinal diseases, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) being no exception. However, previous epidemiological observational studies, while reporting a correlation between the 2, have left the question of a causal relationship inconclusive. This study aims to use a 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to assess the causal relationship between childhood obesity and IBD as well as its subtypes (ulcerative colitis [UC] and Crohn disease [CD]).
