Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) photosensitizers are promising for photodynamic therapy, yet their short excitation wavelengths present a limitation. In this study, we develop a series of organic photosensitizers with dual modulation capabilities based on excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) and AIE. Notably, we synthesize near-infrared (NIR)-excited photosensitive nanoparticles through a coassembly strategy utilizing upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and amphiphilic polymers.

Multielemental transition metal compounds represent a class of promising candidates for the biomedical field due to their unique structure and biomedical application potential. However, their synthesis process remains challenging, which was subject to the high-temperature treatment of the multimetallic elements integrated within one system. Herein, for the first time, we have fabricated the nanotripod, , (FeCoNiCuZnAl)O (denoted as HEO) agent, via the structural topotactic transformation of layered double hydroxide (LDH) precursors with the tunable disorder degree, for highly efficient high-entropydynamic therapy associated with metabolism homeostasis.

Introduction: Acute lung injury (ALI) and its subsequent progression to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are severe respiratory conditions. They are marked by rapid lung function deterioration and extensive pulmonary inflammation, often resulting in critical patient outcomes. Alveolar macrophages (AMs) and monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs) are two distinct subsets of lung macrophages present in the alveoli during ALI.

Chemotherapy is the primary therapy for colorectal cancer. However, its efficacy has been limited by chemoresistance, which is mainly caused by inadequate intratumoral drug accumulation and immunosuppressive microenvironments. To address these limitations, we developed a low-intensity ultrasound (LIU)-controlled and charge-reversible nanogel (R-NG), utilizing conjugated chitosan-polypyrrole polymers linked via thioketal bonds, with TiO absorbed onto its surface.

Objective: To investigate the characteristics of three-dimensional distribution of subchondral fracture lines on the surface of the osteonecrosis femoral head, and to discuss the underlying mechanisms that contribute to its collapse.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed computed tomography (CT) images from 75 patients (comprising a total of 77 femoral heads) diagnosed with Association Research Circulation Osseous (ARCO) stage IIIA or IIIB femoral head necrosis. The three-dimensional structures of both the femoral head and the subchondral fracture line were reconstructed and subsequently fitted into normal femoral head model.

Objective: Surgery to correct the cervicothoracic kyphotic deformity in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) can be associated with serious neurovascular risks. According to the literature, there are no clinical reports documenting the use of vertebral column decancellation (VCD) in the treatment of cervicothoracic kyphotic deformity in patients with AS. The purpose of the present study was to retrospectively analyze and evaluate the effect of VCD on cervicothoracic kyphotic deformity in patients with AS.

Three-dimensional printing (3DP) strategies in the field of meniscus and articular disc repair and regeneration have recently garnered significant attention. However, a comprehensive bibliometric assessment to evaluate the scientific progress in this area is lacking. This research aims to explore the development, key areas of focus, and new directions in 3DP techniques for meniscus and articular disc over the last 15 years, considering both structural and temporal perspectives.

Multi-wavelength emission fluorescent manganese-nitrogen co-doped carbon dots (Mn, N co-doped CDs) were synthesized by solvothermal method using β-cyclodextrin, O-phenylenediamine, and manganese chloride as raw materials. The prepared Mn, N co-doped CDs were used as fluorescent nanosensing platforms for the detection of metal ions and biomolecules and were found to be capable of fluorescence detection of tannic acid (TA) and hafnium (Hf) ion at 320, 380, and 480 nm excitation wavelengths with multi-response linear ranges of 0.7 ~ 1.

Cancer-related anemia (CRA), a complication of cancer, is considered the primary cause of high mortality for cancer patients. Safe and effective theranostics are desirable for realizing the high diagnostic accuracy of tumors and ameliorating CRA in the clinic. However, the available theranostics do not support dual-modal imaging and the amelioration of CRA at the same time.

Despite significant advancements in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) through immunotherapy, many patients still exhibit resistance to this approach. This study aims to identify the characteristics of individuals who can benefit from immunotherapy, especially immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), and to investigate optimal strategies for patients who experience resistance to it. Data on gene expression patterns and clinical information from NSCLC patients who underwent immunotherapy were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus databases.

A case report by Liu describes the characteristics of metastatic clear cell sarcoma (CCS) of the pancreas and provides valuable therapeutic insights for this rare malignancy. This case is interesting because of its rarity, suggesting that the pancreas may be a potential target organ for CCS, either primary or metastatic. At the same time, the authors also emphasize the importance of regular postoperative follow-up for timely detection of recurrent lesions, as CCS is characterized by a high degree of malignancy and a high rate of recurrent metastases.
