Diagnostic Role of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Dilated Cardiomyopathy.

 The purpose of the study was to compare the accuracy of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) with echocardiography for the evaluation of ventricular dysfunction in patients of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Further, we evaluated the potential of CMR for myocardial tissue characterization.  Prospective observational.

Need for mobile application for disability assessment in India.

Introduction: Disability can be by birth or by any tragic event in life or medical illness. Such differently abled persons can become a valuable asset to the nation rather than a liability if we properly quantify their disabilities and help them rehabilitate into jobs best suited for them. The aim of this study was to develop a mobile application for easy quantification of disability of a differently abled person according to the latest Government of India guidelines.

High-Flow Vascular Malformation of Ear: A Case Report.

Vascular anomalies are categorized into vascular tumours or vascular malformations on the basis of clinical features and histopathology. The literature regarding high flow arteriovenous malformations of the auricle is rare. A case of a patient clinically diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation of the external ear and was managed with preoperative embolization, surgical excision and reconstruction of ear with split thickness skin graft, is presented.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome in a neonate due to possible transfusion-related acute lung injury.

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a potentially life-threatening complication of blood component transfusion. It is relatively underdiagnosed entity in neonates with scant literature. We report a case of TRALI in a preterm neonate developing acute respiratory distress within 6 h of blood product transfusion in the absence of preexisting lung disease.

Congenital ptosis repair with a frontalis silicon sling: comparison between Fox's single pentagon technique and a modified Crawford double triangle technique.

Purpose: To compare the results of two different frontalis sling surgery techniques with silicon rod for ptosis: Fox's single pentagon technique and a modification of Crawford's double triangle technique.

Methods: In a randomized clinical trial, 52 eyes of 50 patients with severe ptosis and poor levator function (≤4 mm) were randomly assigned to the Fox group or the modified Crawford group. Cosmetic outcome, functional success, and lagophthalmos were compared.

Correlation of induced sputum eosinophil levels with clinical parameters in mild and moderate persistent asthma in children aged 7-18 years.

Background: Treatment decisions in asthma are currently based on clinical assessment and spirometry. Sputum eosinophil, being a marker of airway inflammation, can serve as a tool for assessing severity and response to treatment in asthma patients.

Objectives: To measure eosinophil percentage in induced sputum in children with asthma and correlate it with clinical asthma parameters.

Sleeping beauty: kleine-levin syndrome.

Kleine-Levin syndrome (KLS) alias sleeping beauty syndrome, is a rare sleep disorder. Clinically presenting as episodes of hypersomnolence, behavioral and cognitive disturbances, hyperphagia and hypersexuality. KLS may have an idiopathic onset or may be precipitated by neurological event or infection.
