The impact of T-regulatory cells (Tregs), PD-1 + CD8 T-cells, and their dynamics during treatment with imatinib mesylate remains poorly understood in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). We conducted a prospective study on newly diagnosed, treatment-naïve adult (> 18 years old) patients with CML in the chronic phase (CP) and age- and sex-matched controls. Peripheral blood samples were collected at diagnosis and after three months of imatinib therapy to assess Tregs and PD-1 + CD8 T-cell levels using flow cytometry.

As climate change intensifies, urgent action is needed to address global warming and its associated health risks, particularly in vulnerable regions. Rising global temperature and increasing frequency of heatwaves present a hidden health risk, disrupting the body's temperature regulation and leading to severe consequences such as heat stress-induced multiple organ dysfunction (HS-MOD). Multiple organ injury triggered by heat stress involves complex molecular pathways such as nitric oxide dysregulation, inflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, calcium homeostasis disruption, and autophagy impairment that contribute to cellular damage.

The European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the British Thoracic Society (BTS) have recently published their statements on the treatment of sarcoidosis. There are five key questions in sarcoidosis treatment that need to be addressed: when to treat, how to initiate treatment, how long to treat, when and how to change treatment, and how to treat relapses. Herein, we describe the principles and protocols to answer these questions based on the ERS and BTS statements and other expert reviews.

Acromegaly due to ectopic secretion of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) is a rare disorder. The signs and symptoms of ectopic acromegaly are indistinguishable from acromegaly due to a somatotroph adenoma. A 35-year-old female presented with secondary amenorrhea for 10 years, intermittent headache, and reduced vision in both eyes for 4 years, which worsened over 4 months before presentation.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a significant global health challenge with few effective treatment options. The dysregulation of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress responses has emerged as a pivotal factor in HCC progression and therapy resistance. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role as key epigenetic modifiers in this process.

Cardiac resonance is a complicated phenomenon involving the coordinated oscillations of numerous circulatory system components, such as electrical activity, contraction and relaxation, and blood flow. It is critical for the normal functioning of the heart and for maintaining blood flow throughout the body. Cardiac resonance is defined as a series of tiny waves produced by the heartbeat and overlaid on flow data and airway pressures.

Objectives: The objective of this paper was to compare the effectiveness of different materials for mouthguards in preventing oral and maxillofacial injuries during sports activities. The present study compares the stress-reduction and energy absorption capabilities of two other fused filament materials - poly(lactic-acid plus) (PLA+) and polycarbonate (PC), with Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), which is the most commonly used material for mouthguard fabrication.
Materials And Methods: Two human skulls were modelled, and a boxing glove simulated punches along the x, y, and z-axes with 5 mm displacement with 1 kN force.

This report summarizes the key findings of a workshop undertaken at the International Child Neurology Congress in 2024 by child neurologists with expertise in training education and invested colleagues. The workshop aimed to explore global issues which have impact on access to child neurology training. The major findings supported a great need for more training programs globally, that consensus is needed for the minimum standards of training, and that training programs can be strengthened via global health partnerships especially with collaborations from regions with more available resources.
