We report targeted protein degradation through the site-specific recruitment of native ubiquitin ligases to a protein of interest via conjugation of E3 ligase ligands. Direct comparison of degradation ability of proteins displaying the corresponding bioconjugation handle at different regions of protein surfaces was explored. We demonstrate the benefit of proximal lysine residues and investigate flexibility in linker length for the design of optimal degraders.

Racial/ethnic minorities, including the Black community, experience stigma as a significant barrier to mental health care, with fears of being devalued or discriminated against deterring individuals from seeking help. Racial stigma further exacerbates mental health issues and negatively influences perceptions of service utilization. RIF1 (RAP1 interacting factor) fulfills diverse roles in DNA double-strand break repair, DNA replication, and nuclear organization. RIF1 is expressed as two splice variants, RIF1-Long (RIF1-L) and RIF1-Short (RIF1-S), from the alternative splicing (AS) of Exon 32 (Ex32) which encodes a 26 aa Ser/Lys-rich cassette peptide in the RIF1 C-terminal domain (CTD). Here we demonstrate that Ex32 inclusion was repressed by DNA damage and oncogenesis but peaked at G/M phase of the cell cycle.

In non-Hermitian open quantum systems, such as polariton condensates, the local tailoring of gains and losses opens up an interesting possibility to realize functional optical elements. Here, we demonstrate that deliberately introducing losses via a photonic defect, realized by reducing the quality factor of a DBR mirror locally within an ultrahigh-quality microcavity, may be utilized to create directed polariton currents towards the defect. We discuss the role of polariton-polariton interactions in the process and how to tailor the effective decay time of a polariton condensate by coupling it to the defect.

Background: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the use of a free online continuing education (CE) course that sought to address barriers of capability by training dental team members in the specific recommendations of the American Dental Association (ADA)-endorsed adult guideline for the pharmacologic management of acute dental pain, shared decision-making, and the adoption of the guideline into practice.

Methods: In 2022 and 2023, dentists completed an online, asynchronous CE course on the guideline-concordant pharmacologic management of acute dental pain. They completed 11-item knowledge tests before and after completing the course.
