Identification of clinicopathological-specific driver gene and genetic subtyping of colorectal cancer.

This study analyzed targeted sequencing data from 6530 tissue samples from patients with metastatic Chinese colorectal cancer (CRC) to identify low mutation frequency and subgroup-specific driver genes, using three algorithms for overall CRC as well as across different clinicopathological subgroups. We analyzed 425 cancer-related genes, identifying 101 potential driver genes, including 36 novel to CRC. Notably, some genes demonstrated subgroup specificity; for instance, ERBB4 was found as a male-specific driver gene and mutations of ERBB4 only influenced the prognosis of male patients with CRC.

Background: Multianalyte machine learning (ML) models can potentially identify previously undetectable wrong blood in tube (WBIT) errors, improving upon current single-analyte delta check methodology. However, WBIT detection model performance has not been assessed in a real-world, low-prevalence context. To estimate real-world positive predictive values, we propose a methodology to assess WBIT detection models by evaluating the impact of missing data and by using a "low prevalence" validation data set.

Loss-of-function variants cause campomelic dysplasia and Pierre Robin Sequence, while both gain- and loss-of-function variants cause disorders of sex development. SOX9 has also been linked to scoliosis and cancers, but variants are undetermined.

Rare Enterohepatic Fistula in Crohn's Disease: Case Analysis and Literature Synthesis.

BACKGROUND Crohn disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease known for causing fistulous tracts, abscesses, and bowel perforation. Enterohepatic fistulas, a rare but significant complication, are scarcely reported. This article presents the case of a hepatic abscess due to an enterohepatic fistula in a patient with long-term Crohn disease and reviews the existing literature on this phenomenon.

Local excision for T1 rectal cancer: A population-based study of practice patterns and oncological outcomes.

Heart failure (HF) remains a significant public health issue, with heart transplantation (HT) being the gold standard treatment for end-stage HF. The increasing use of mechanical circulatory support, particularly left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), as a bridge to transplant (BTT), presents new perspectives for increasingly complex clinical scenarios.
