The altered solvation structures and dynamical properties of water molecules at the metal/water interfaces will affect the elementary step of an electrochemical process. Simulating the interfacial structure and dynamics with a realistic representation will provide us with a solid foundation to make a connection with experimental studies. To surmount the accuracy-efficiency tradeoff and provide dynamical insights, we use state-of-the-art machine learning molecular dynamics (MLMD) to study the water exchange dynamics, which are fundamental to adsorption/desorption and electrochemical reaction steps.

The most common oncogenic driver in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene mutations, which are more common in Asian (30-50%) than in Caucasian (10-15%) populations. Exon 19 deletion (ex19del) and exon 21 L858R (ex21 L858R) mutations account for ~45 and 40% of all EGFR mutations, respectively. Moreover, EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) may be more effective and improve the quality of life of patients with NSCLC more than chemotherapy regimens.

The FAT atypical cadherin 1 (FAT1) gene is the ortholog of the fat gene and encodes the protocadherin FAT1. FAT1 belongs to the cadherin superfamily, a group of full-length membrane proteins that contain cadherin-like repeats. In various types of human cancer, FAT1 is one of the most commonly mutated genes, and is considered to be an emerging cancer biomarker and a potential target for novel therapies.

CsPbBr3 Superstructures with Circularly Polarized Photoluminescence Obtained by the Self-Assembly and Annealing of Nanoclusters.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

Zhengzhou University, College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, No.100 Science Avenue, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province P.R.China., Zhengzhou, Henan, CHINA.

We report a two-step approach to fabricate CsPbBr3 superstructures with strongly circularly polarized photoluminescence by self-assembly of nanoclusters on a substrate, followed by their annealing. In the first step, the nanoclusters self-assemble upon solvent evaporation, a process that forms mesoscopic superstructures whose geometrical arrangement at the µm-scale confers them optical chirality. In the second step, mild annealing of such superstructures induces the coalescence of the nanoclusters, accompanied by a continuous red shift of the photoluminescence up to 530 nm, with preservation of the µm-scale wires bundles and the chiral properties of the sample (glum = 0.

Key Laboratory of Aquaculture Nutrition and Feeds (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), Key Laboratory of Mariculture (Ministry of Education), Fisheries College, Ocean University of China, 5 Yushan Road, 266003, Qingdao, P. R. China.

Brine shrimp nauplii are widely used as live food in fish and shellfish aquaculture but they may transmit pathogenic Vibrio to the target species causing significant economic loss. Heavy usage of antibiotics is expensive and environmentally damaging. Use of natural microbes as probiotics for disease management is a more sustainable strategy.

Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody (TRAb) is a specific marker for Graves' disease (GD) and the measurement of which can improve the accuracy of GD diagnosis. Current detection methods utilize porcine-derived polyclonal-TRAb, which is unstable and is a source of significant inter-assay variability. This study aims to establish a time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay (TRFIA) method based on stable source of recombinant human TSHR and TRAb for the detection of serum TRAb.

Adv Mater

January 2025

Institute of Modern Optics & Tianjin Key Laboratory of Micro-Scale Optical Information Science and Technology, Nankai University, Tianjin, 300350, P. R. China.

Memristors enable non-volatile memory and neuromorphic computing. Optical memristors are the fundamental element for programmable photonic integrated circuits due to their high-bandwidth computing, low crosstalk, and minimal power consumption. Here, an optical memristor enabled by a non-volatile electro-optic (EO) effect, where refractive index modulation under zero field is realized by deliberate control of domain alignment in the ferroelectric material Pb(MgNb)O-PbTiO(PMN-PT) is proposed.

Riveting Nucleation Enabled Long Cycling Life Calcium Metal Anodes.

Adv Mater

January 2025

Hefei National Research Center for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, 230026, P. R. China.

Calcium metal batteries with high capacity and low cost are promising alternatives to Li-ion batteries for large-scale energy storage. However, its development is crucially impeded by the irreversible Ca metal anode, which is highly associated with uncontrollable Ca plating/stripping. Here, we report a new riveting strategy to regulate the nucleation and growth of a Ca metal anode in the 3D structure of a carbon nanotube film (CNF) by introducing in situ-formed Na metal mediators.

January 2025

College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hunan University, Hunan 410082, P. R. China.

Supramolecular glass and plastic are a new generation of artificial transparent materials that exhibit excellent optical behavior and processability. However, owing to inherent deficiencies in their mechanical toughness and long-term stability, supramolecular materials lack the potential for functionalization and application. Inspired by the toughening phenomena in biological systems, a synergistic covalent-and-supramolecular polymerization strategy was applied to construct plastic-like supramolecular materials with high transmittance the solvent-free one-pot amidation of thioctic acid and (poly)amines.
