Background: Environmentally responsive nanoscale biocide delivery system enhances smart, regulated, and synergistic biocide application with precise biocide release. In this study, pectin-modified dendritic mesoporous silica nanoparticles (DMSNs) was used as a carrier to successfully construct a microenvironment-responsive (pH, temperature and enzyme) eugenol nano-biocide delivery system for the control of Ralstonia solanacearum infection.
Results: The results showed that the specific surface area, pore size and surface activity of DMSNs significantly influence the biocide loading of eugenol, and the biocide loading capability was up to 72.

Palmitoylation plays a crucial role in the pathophysiology of diabetes, and an increase in palmitoylation may inhibit the function of insulin receptors, thereby affecting the progression of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). However, its involvement in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) remains underexplored. This study analyzed GDM-related datasets and 30 palmitoylation-related genes (PRGs), identifying MNDA, FCGR3B, and AQP9 as significantly upregulated biomarkers in GDM samples.

The modulation of traps has found attractive attention to optimize the performance of luminescent materials, while the understanding of trap-involved photoluminescence management of metal nanoclusters greatly lags behind, thus extensively impeding their increasing acceptance as the promising chromophores. Here, we report an efficient passivation of the structural oxygen vacancies in AuAg nanoclusters by leveraging the HO molecules, achieving a sensitive color tuning from 536 to 480 nm and remarkably boosting photoluminescence quantum yield from 5.3% (trap-state emission) to 91.

Biomass valorization is a way to promote the 'waste-to-wealth' concept, which is a pre-requisite condition for a future sustainable lifestyle. The direct utilization of natural polymer for value-added materials should be prioritized. With this object, we demonstrate a facile and economical method to prepare chitin-derived supramolecular nanowires-stabilized single-atom sites Pt catalysts (SS-Pt-CSNs).

Nanozymes offer diverse therapeutic potentials for cancer treatment which is dependent on the development of nanomaterials. Quasi-metal-organic framework is a class of metal-organic framework-derived nanomaterials with a transition state from metal-organic frameworks towards metal oxide featuring porous structure and high activity. Herein an iron-based quasi-metal-organic framework nanozyme Q-MIL-53(Fe) is reported via a controlled deligandation strategy, exhibiting enhanced peroxidase-/catalase-mimic activity and glutathione depletion capacity, whose underlying mechanisms are studied via density functional theory calculations.

Tetrabenazine (TBZ) is used in the treatment of psychiatric diseases, and it works by inhibiting vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) protein to exert a curative effect. TBZ is administered as the mixture of stereoisomers in clinical treatment. TBZ has two chiral centers, and therefore, it has four stereoisomers, and this greatly makes it difficult to separate the stereoisomers and to identify their configurations because of their high susceptibility to structural transformation.

Autophagy is associated with chemoresistance, which is the leading cause of failure in chemotherapeutic treatments. Among the various aspects of autophagy, autophagic flux serves as a critical indicator for evaluating the dynamic processes involved. We report herein that the multifunctional protein HAX-1 promotes chemoresistance by effectively blocking the fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes.

The extracellular matrix (ECM) of solid tumor constitutes a formidable physical barrier that impedes immune cell infiltration, contributing to immunotherapy resistance. Breast cancer, particularly triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), is characterized by a collagen-rich tumor microenvironment, which is associated with T cell exclusion and poor therapeutic outcomes. Discoidin domain receptor 2 (DDR2) and integrins, key ECM regulatory receptors on cancer cells, play pivotal role in maintaining this barrier.

The development of efficient electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is crucial for advancing electrochemical water splitting technology. Herein, we report a novel hybrid electrocatalyst, CoTHPP-PDCP@DWCNTs, synthesized through a covalent functionalization of cobalt-porphyrin (CoTHPP) with chain-like polydichlorophosphazenes (PDCP) and subsequent incorporation onto double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs). The successful synthesis was confirmed by various spectroscopic techniques, which collectively revealed strong electronic interactions between components, improved charge transfer, and enhanced electrochemical stability.

MOF@CeO composites with good interfacial compatibility have garnered significant attention in the field of third-order nonlinear optics (NLO). However, the interfacial interaction between the MOFs and CeO is commonly weak, which severely weakens the third-order NLO properties of the composites. In this study, we chose the parent Zn-MOF ({[Zn(BPAN)(ndcpa)]·DMA·HO}) (BPAN = 9,10-bis(4-pyridyl)anthracene and Hndcpa = naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylicacid) and synthesized bimetallic-MOFs (ZnNi-MOF and ZnCo-MOF) by solvent-assisted metal-ion exchange.

The p-i-n type perovskite solar cells with a nickel oxide (NiOx) hole transport layer in combination with self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) have a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of over 26%. The surface properties of the SAM layer have a significant impact on the growth and crystallization of the perovskite film. In the meanwhile, defects formed during thermal annealing at the SAM layer and the perovskite layer interface would act as charge recombination centers, decreasing device performance and stability.

Harmful environmental DNA (eDNA) contamination in water poses significant health risks, yet traditional treatments fall short of achieving efficient removal. Here, we introduce 1MIA-Zr, a bioinspired infinite coordination polymer catalyst modeled after natural nucleases. 1MIA-Zr achieves a DNA hydrolysis rate approximately 40 times greater than that of UiO-66 REO, the previous best zirconium-based catalyst.

Electrowetting displays (EWD) still face the challenge of high driving voltages, provided by specialized driver ICs for electrowetting technologies. However, if the driving voltage is reduced to the threshold of widely used driver ICs of liquid crystal displays, it would significantly accelerate the revolution of driving ICs for EWD devices. Cyanoethyl cellulose (CEC) is utilized as a novel dielectric layer for electrowetting-on-dielectric systems and shows a large contact angle modulation, enabling low-voltage-driven wettability and device operation.

Light-emitting colloidal lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs) are considered promising candidates for next-generation vivid displays. However, the operational stability of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on PeNCs is still lower than those based on polycrystalline perovskite films, which requires an understanding of defect formation in PeNCs, both inside the crystal lattice ("bulk") and at the surface. Meanwhile, uncontrollable ion redistribution and electrochemical reactions under LED operation can be severe, which is also related to the bulk and surface quality of PeNCs, and a well-designed device architecture can boost carrier injection and balance radiative recombination.

Algae typically respond to environmental changes by regulating the production and release of metabolites that affect water quality and cause various environmental issues. In this study, we investigated the role of algal organic matter (AOM) in copper [Cu(II)] using high-resolution mass spectrometry and a molecular-network-based nontargeted screening. The abundance and activity of algae were inhibited after the addition of Cu(II).
