Artifacts in nuclear medicine imaging are not uncommon. We are aware of some of these, for which we follow necessary protocols to avoid them. However, there are some unusual and unavoidable artifacts that we come across in daily imaging, which may be of concern and need to be detected and corrected on time.

Aims And Objectives: The aim of this study was to objectively assess the long-term results of laparoscopic orchidopexy in patients who were diagnosed clinically to have nonpalpable undescended testis (UDT).
Materials And Methods: All operated cases of nonpalpable UDT from January, 2000, to January, 2014, were reviewed. After informed consent, all patients were subjected to a color Doppler ultrasound examination to assess the location of the testis, its size, blood supply, and consistency.

Introduction: Scores are available to predict the probability of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) after cardiac interventions, but not many scores are available for non-cardiac interventions and there are none for intravenous exposure to contrast. We designed this study to develop a simplified score to determine the probability of developing CIN in patients exposed to the parenteral contrast medium.
Methods: This was a prospective study of patients who received parenteral contrast.

Ewing sarcoma (EWS) is primarily an osseous malignancy of childhood and young adults. Extraskeletal occurrence is less frequent and primary adrenal involvement is an even rare presentation. We present such a case of a 7-year-old boy diagnosed with adrenal EWS with associated venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism detected on F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography scan.

Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is an uncommon and highly aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis. Common sites of metastasis are lung, liver, and lymph nodes. We present a case of ACC in a 54-year-old female with an early disease recurrence of unusual hypervascular peritoneal metastatic abdominal-pelvic deposits detected on F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan.

Introduction: As per the recommendations of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine Task Group 43, Monte Carlo (MC) investigators should reproduce previously published dose distributions whenever new features of the code are explored. The purpose of the present study is to benchmark the TG-43 dosimetric parameters calculated using the new MC user-code egs_brachy of EGSnrc code system for three different radionuclides Ir, Yb, and I which represent high-, intermediate-, and low-energy sources, respectively.
Materials And Methods: Brachytherapy sources investigated in this study are high-dose rate (HDR) Ir VariSource (Model VS2000), Yb HDR (Model 4140), and I -low-dose-rate (LDR) (Model OcuProsta).

Multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) pazopanib approved for the treatment of advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) has prolonged the estimated survival times and quality of life of patients. However, several adverse effects associated predominantly with the inhibition of the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor by these drugs may prove to be potentially life-threatening. One such rare adverse event with the use of pazopanib is acute pancreatitis.

Pituitary apoplexy (PA) is a clinical emergency arising from acute ischemia or hemorrhage of the pituitary gland. A small subset of pituitary adenomas present with an apoplectic crisis, with common symptoms being headache, nausea-vomiting, visual impairment, ophthalmoplegia, altered sensorium, and panhypopituitarism. Though diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is an established complication of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, its association with PA is extremely rare.

Ticagrelor is a potent, oral P2Y12 inhibitor used as a part of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in acute coronary syndromes (ACS). New evidence has emerged for its use in ACS, which may be crucial for the Indian context. This brought together nearly 150 experts in ACS management across the country who reviewed the current evidence and discussed the same through a series of 10 meetings on an online platform.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends countries introduce new anti-TB drugs in the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. The aim of the study is to prospectively evaluate the effectiveness of bedaquiline (and/or delamanid)- containing regimens in a large cohort of consecutive TB patients treated globally. This observational, prospective study is based on data collected and provided by Global Tuberculosis Network (GTN) centres and analysed twice a year.

Objectives: Decompressive craniectomy (DC) is an emergency life-saving procedure used to treat refractory intracranial hypertension (RICH). The authors aim to analyze their experience with protocol-based early DC (<24 h) in RICH cases diagnosed based on clinical and radiological evidence, without preoperative intracranial pressure monitoring done over 10 years.
Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective, observational study which includes 58 consecutive patients who underwent protocol-based early DC by the senior author at a single institution between 2007 and 2017.

Background: In the era of increasing drug resistance in pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), it is prudent to assess causes of poor response to anti tubercular therapy (ATT) and drug sensitivity pattern (DSP) in osteoarticular TB.
Materials And Methods: As a part of Bombay Orthopaedic society's research project, members were asked to refer non responders to ATT to our institute. Cases were enrolled from October 2010 to March 2014.

Background: Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is an increasing problem worldwide, and 24% occurs in India. Linezolid is associated with improved MDR-TB treatment outcomes but causes significant side-effects and drug susceptibility testing (DST) is rarely available. This study assessed whether clinical factors could predict linezolid resistance.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that countries implement pharmacovigilance and collect information on active drug safety monitoring (aDSM) and management of adverse events. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the frequency and severity of adverse events to anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs in a cohort of consecutive TB patients treated with new ( bedaquiline, delamanid) and repurposed ( clofazimine, linezolid) drugs, based on the WHO aDSM project. Adverse events were collected prospectively after attribution to a specific drug together with demographic, bacteriological, radiological and clinical information at diagnosis and during therapy.

Background And Aims: General anesthesia using agents like Desflurane or Sevoflurane are beneficial for early recovery especially for ambulatory procedures. The aim of this randomised controlled double-blind study was to compare the early recovery profiles of sevoflurane and desflurane in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Material And Methods: ASA I, II patients, undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy were randomly assigned to receive desflurane ( = 30) or sevoflurane ( = 30), using Bispectral Index System (BIS) to determine the depth of anaesthesia.

Global Tuberculosis Programme, World Health Organization, Geneva, Switzerland. Electronic address:
The World Health Organization launched a global initiative, known as aDSM (active TB drug safety monitoring and management) to better describe the safety profile of new treatment regimens for drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) in real-world settings. However, comprehensive surveillance is difficult to implement in several countries. The aim of the aDSM project is to demonstrate the feasibility of implementing national aDSM registers and to describe the type and the frequency of adverse events (AEs) associated with exposure to the new anti-TB drugs.

Genitourinary tuberculosis contributes to 10%-14% of extrapulmonary TB. Prostate tuberculosis is rare and usually found incidentally following transurethral resection of the prostate for benign prostatic hyperplasia. We report a case of an immunocompetent patient with pyrexia of unknown origin, on evaluation with whole-body 18F-fludeoxyglucose positron emission tomography computed tomography scan found to have suspicious prostatic primary, with hypermetabolic abnormalities involving the brain.
