Objectives: The prevalence and burden of neurological diseases are high among the older age group. Stroke and other neurological diseases significantly impair functional capacity and lead to poor quality of life. This study aims to provide a national-level estimate for palliative and supportive care needs among older Indian adults with stroke and other neurological diseases.

In an elderly patient with known cardiac and pulmonary risk, a reversal agent with a faster onset and least hemodynamic effects is preferable. Being inert, the sugammadex-rocuronium complex is associated with minimal muscarinic effects. We report a successful management with rocuronium and sugammadex in an eighty three year old male patient with a history of Ischemic Heart Disease, atrial fibrillation, and Interstitial Lung Disease posted for a cochlear implant surgery.

Low- and middle-income countries have a higher incidence and poorer outcome with sepsis. Large epidemiological studies in sepsis using Sepsis-3 criteria, addressing the process of care and deriving predictors of mortality are scarce in India.

In heart failure, sympathetic overdrive is evidenced by norepinephrine spillover, receptor level changes, etc. Beta-blockers continue to be the cornerstone of treatment in patients with chronic heart failure due to their ability to counteract sympathetic overdrive. Extensive clinical research has demonstrated that long-term beta-blocker treatment with metoprolol succinate, carvedilol, or bisoprolol enhances left ventricular function and reverses left ventricular remodeling, decreases hospitalization risk, and increases survival.

Background: Skull base meningiomas are chronic conditions that can present with a wide variety of symptoms ranging from near normalcy to chronic and prolonged disability and also often worsen by treatment-related sequelae. Hence, it is necessary to investigate the quality of life (QOL) among patients with skull base meningioma and evaluate the impact of microsurgery on their overall well-being.
Methods: In this prospective observational study, 36 patients undergoing microsurgery for skull base meningioma were assessed for QOL using SF-36 questionnaires.

Objectives: Patients with progressive neurologic illness still lack access to quality palliative care services. Barriers to the comprehensive provision of neuropalliative care include gaps in palliative care education. To address this barrier, a novel international model of neuropalliative care education e-learning program was launched in 2022.

Unlabelled: Gender disparity in Critical Care Medicine (CCM) persists globally, with women being underrepresented. Female Intensivists remain a minority, facing challenges in academic and leadership positions at the workplace and within academic societies. The Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) recognized the need for addressing issues related to gender parity and constituted its first Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee in 2023.

Purpose: Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is the most severe form of tuberculosis (TB). Difficulty in diagnosing the condition along with other factors, increases its potential for high morbidity and mortality. Targeted Next Generation Sequencing (tNGS) generates high quality sequence read depths, enabling the identification of low-frequency alleles linked to Drug resistance (DR).

Background: Thalamic lesions located in the floor of the lateral ventricle pose significant surgical challenges, given their proximity to critical neurovascular structures. Transcortical approaches are often limited by risks of injuring the eloquent cortex and nearby vessels. Furthermore, lesions extending into the third ventricle further impede accessibility.

Artifacts in nuclear medicine imaging are not uncommon. We are aware of some of these, for which we follow necessary protocols to avoid them. However, there are some unusual and unavoidable artifacts that we come across in daily imaging, which may be of concern and need to be detected and corrected on time.

Background: In recent years, the subspecialty of neuropalliative care has emerged with the goal of improving the quality of life of patients suffering from neurological disease, though gaps remain in neuropalliative care education and training. E-learning has been described as a way to deliver interactive and facilitated lower-cost learning to address global gaps in medical care. We describe here the development of a novel, international, hybrid, and asynchronous curriculum with both self-paced modules and class-based lectures on neuropalliative care topics designed for the neurologist interested in palliative care, the palliative care physician interested in caring for neurological patients, and any other physician or advanced care providers interested in neuropalliative care.

Introduction: Prevention of dislocation after total hip arthroplasty (THA) remains a topic of debate. There are various surgical options to manage hip instability such as large femoral heads, and constrained liners, although the best option to tackle this is still controversial. In revision scenarios with previous well-fixed acetabulum shells, the cementation of polyethylene liners or the cementation of dual mobility (DM) into a well-fixed acetabulum shell (Double Socket Technique) has been documented before.
