Background: Both adductor canal block (ACB) and of Local Infiltrative Analgesia (LIA) have been shown to reduce pain after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The efficacy of combining ACB and LIA remains controversial. The objective of this study is to analyse the effect of LIA + single dose ACB compared to LIA alone on early post-operative pain and mobilization in TKA.

Background: Simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a promising option for patients with bilateral arthritis of the knee because of the requirement of a single hospitalization and anesthetic regimen, reduced overall hospital stay, lower overall costs, and quicker recovery compared to staged bilateral TKA. However, there are conflicting reports on the safety of the procedure, with little data available in the Indian setting. Herein, we compared the efficacy and safety of sequential simultaneous bilateral TKA (SSBTKA) with those of unilateral TKA (UTKA).

Despite several recent advances in therapy in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) therapy has retained its place especially in ulcerative colitis. This consensus on 5-ASA is obtained through a modified Delphi process, and includes guiding statements and recommendations based on literature evidence (randomized trials, and observational studies), clinical practice, and expert opinion on use of 5-ASA in IBD by Indian gastroenterologists. The aim is to aid practitioners in selecting appropriate treatment strategies and facilitate optimal use of 5-ASA in patients with IBD.

Aim: To highlight radiological features and emphasize the need for tissue diagnoses to confirm bone pathology. Tuberculosis is known to present without constitutional symptoms and with unconventional imaging features mimicking sarcomas as shown in our series of 25 patients; where the imaging and biopsy protocols at our institute helped to solve these diagnostic dilemmas.
Material And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical and radiological features and tissue diagnoses in 25 patients referred to the department of orthopedic oncology with radiological suspicion of tumor.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the prognostic significance of 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET-CT) scan-derived total metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients with only nodal involvement.
Methods: Twenty-five (age range: 22-82 years) biopsy-proven patients of DLBCL with only nodal involvement who underwent staging FDG PET-CT scan were included in this study. Whole-body PET-CT performed at staging and PET-derived metabolic parameters, namely MTV and TLG of all FDG-avid lesions, were calculated for each patient.

Background: Patients undergoing Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) typically have early postoperative pain and decreased mobility, especially so in the first 24 h. Achieving a pain free knee in the immediate postoperative period and reducing complications using multimodal pain and blood management protocols forms a keystone in early mobilization and functional recovery. Enhanced Recovery after Surgery pathways (ERASp) since their inception, have significantly improved perioperative care and functional outcomes, thereby reducing the average length of stay (ALOS), complications and overall healthcare costs.

The development and rollout of the Xpert Mycobacterium tuberculosis/rifampicin assay for the GeneXpert platform is considered an important breakthrough in the fight against tuberculosis. Xpert though robust is known to have issues that occur with very low load of tuberculosis detection, wherein it is recommended to confirm resistance if resistance is not suspected using another genotypic test.

Problem: DNA methylation profile in mid-secretory phase of endometrium is reported to be varied from other phases in natural menstrual cycle. Therefore, we intended to study the impairment in endometrial receptivity by performing whole-genome methylation and gene expression profiling in endometrium of recurrent implantation failure patients (RIF) during IVF under controlled ovarian stimulation (COS).
Method Of Study: Endometrial biopsies were collected from IVF-RIF patients (cases, n = 6) and healthy fertile oocyte donors (controls, n = 6) undergoing COS after 6/7th day of human chorionic gonadotropin administration.

Acute vascular injury during total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is an extremely rare complication, but one which can have devastating consequences threatening the limb and/or life of the patient if not diagnosed and managed at the earliest. The clinical presentation can vary from acute haemorrhage or ischemia in the peri operative period; to a delayed presentation of recurrent swelling and pain secondary to a geniculate or popliteal artery pseudoaneurysm. This is the first reported case of an acute inferolateral genicular artery haemorrhage following TKA and the associated medical complications.

Objective: With the trend towards accelerated rehabilitation, the method of skin closure has become increasingly important in orthopedic surgery. It is imperative to evaluate a technique that provides superior clinical and cosmetic results specifically for TKA, due to relatively thin skin anterior to the knee making poor wound healing an issue of concern. We conducted a prospective, single-arm audit evaluating the patient assessments of incision cosmesis for a novel technique in TKA wound closure called Concealed Cosmetic Closure (CCC).
