Introduction: We present the outcome of 154 ASR (Articular Surface Replacement) hips performed at the P.D Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre in terms of revision rate, metal ion levels, and factors affecting survivorship. Further, determined the importance of serial metal ion estimation over single value with poorly functioning arthroplasties.

A case report of lead dysfunction presenting as high ventricular premature complex burden.

Pacemaker-troubleshooting is an important step in the evaluation of a patient with syncope post-pacemaker-implantation. The basic functions of sensing, pacing and impedance may remain spuriously normal in the case of lead-microfracture or insulation break. We report a case in which the lead dysfunction was diagnosed based on multiple episodes of premature ventricular beats.

Self-reported Wheat Sensitivity in Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Healthy Subjects: Prevalence of Celiac Markers and Response to Wheat-free Diet.

Background/aims: Most patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) report food-related aggravation of symptoms. Wheat/gluten is one of the most commonly incriminated. We studied the prevalence of self-reported wheat sensitivity in patients with IBS and in a healthy population from a region in India consuming mixed-cereal diets, correlated it with serological and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) markers of celiac disease, and evaluated the response to a wheat-free diet.

Loss of left ventricular component of biventricular pacing with low atrial rhythm, what is the mechanism?

Effective biventricular pacing is important to improve survival in patients with heart failure. We report a case of a patient with heart failure, who underwent cardiac resynchronization therapy, who had loss of biventricular pacing when in low atrial rhythm. We discuss the probable mechanism for the same.

Biogenic amine neurotransmitters metabolism is a multistep pathway with pterin and pyridoxal phosphate (vitamin B6) as cofactors. A defect in biogenic amine and cofactor metabolism and vesicular transporters result in a primary neurotransmitter disorders. These are a well-recognized groups of inherited disorders and often present with features overlapping with other neurological conditions.

Microsurgery of Giant Intracranial Aneurysm: A Single Institution Outcome Study.

Background: Giant intracranial aneurysms (GIAs) are treacherous lesions and in spite of the many advances, endovascular therapy (EVT) of GIAs is challenging.

Objective: A retrospective analysis of our results with microsurgery of GIAs is presented to examine the role of microsurgery in the current trend of EVT.

Materials And Methods: Between 1996 and 2019, 134 patients with 147 GIAs had microsurgery by the senior author in a single institute.

Transcriptomic literature has revealed the various biological processes involved in endometrial receptivity (ER) under different physiological circumstances, especially in natural cycle. We intended to determine the function-specific ER profile under controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) cycle.

Differences in management and treatment of traumatic adult pan brachial plexus injuries: a global perspective regarding continental variations.

An expert opinion study was designed to query five countries and six brachial plexus surgeons regarding the demographics, mechanisms of injury, evaluation, timing of surgery, reconstructive strategies and controversies in adult traumatic pan brachial plexus injuries. Variations in assessing outcomes, management of neuropathic pain and future considerations were elucidated. Clear differences in regional demographics, mechanisms of injury, patient evaluation and treatment strategies were identified.

Superior functional outcome with dual mobility THR as compared to conventional THR in fracture neck femur: a prospective cohort study.

Introduction: Total Hip Replacement (THR) in displaced Fracture Neck of Femur (FNOF) is associated with higher dislocation rates. Conventional THR with a large femoral head and anterior approach has reduced the instability, but it remains higher than THR done for other aetiology. Recent studies have shown reduced dislocation rates with dual mobility THR (DMTHR) for FNOF; however, there is a lack of comparative research to show its superiority over conventional THR.

'To reveal or to conceal'- Disclosure strategies in parents of children with epilepsy in India.

Purpose: Disclosure of epilepsy is a relevant but under-researched topic in epilepsy research. This study was done to assess the disclosure strategies in parents of CWE in a developing country with conservative culture. The study also assessed the influence of demographic factors and seizure characteristics on the choice of disclosure.

Reinfection in COVID-19: A scoping review.

Reinfections in COVID-19 are being reported all around the world and are a cause for concern, considering that a lot of our assumptions and modeling (including vaccination) related to the disease have relied on long-term immunity. We were one of the first groups to report a series of 4 healthcare workers to have been reinfected. This review article reports a scoping review of the available literature on reinfections, with a discussion of the implications of reinfections.

Analysis of the Long-Term Outcome in Open Carpal Tunnel Release Surgeries with and without External Neurolysis of Median Nerve, Using Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ)-Hindi Version.

 The effectiveness of open carpal tunnel release (OCTR) in treating carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is well known. However, the role of ancillary external neurolysis of the median nerve is not well-documented. The Boston carpal tunnel questionnaire (BCTQ) is a commonly used disease-specific outcome instrument for CTS, which is validated across major languages of the world.

Skull base chondrosarcoma presenting with parenchymal hemorrhage: A case report.

Chondrosarcoma (CS) is a locally invasive, slow growing malignant neoplasm. Intracranial chondrosarcoma are extradural osseous lesions and intradural location with intratumoral hemorrhage is very rare. We report a rare case of 65-year-old male presenting with a small mass in left posterior skull base and later, suddenly deteriorating due to large cerebellar hemorrhage.

Virtual crossmatch-prodigal saviour of cardiac transplants in India.

Positive anti-human leukocyte antigen (HLA) antibodies are considered a contraindication for cardiac transplantation in India, due to its negative impact on cardiac allograft survival and increased chances of rejection post-transplant. Single antigen bead (SAB) assay helps to further characterize these antibodies. Our case portrays India's first reported successful cardiac transplant utilizing a virtual crossmatch (VXM)-based approach in a patient with positive anti-HLA antibody screen and SAB assay.
