  • Atherosclerosis is a leading cause of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), especially in younger patients aged ≤45, where genetic factors and conditions like COVID-19 also play a significant role.
  • A study analyzed 2624 AMI patients, revealing that those aged ≤45 had significantly higher cholesterol and triglyceride levels than older individuals, and that unvaccinated patients experienced more severe COVID-19 complications.
  • The findings indicate younger AMI patients commonly lack hypertension or diabetes but often have high cholesterol, single-vessel disease, and drug-eluting stent histories, highlighting different risk profiles compared to older populations.*
