BACKGROUND Acute epiploic appendagitis is an uncommon cause of acute abdominal pain characterized by pain in the left or right lower quadrants of the abdomen. It is caused by torsion or spontaneous venous thrombosis of one of the epiploic appendages, which are found along the colon, most commonly in the sigmoid colon. The literature consistently compares the presenting symptoms and clinical picture of acute epiploic appendagitis to acute diverticulitis and acute appendicitis.

Phlegmasia cerulea dolens is a rare manifestation of massive deep vein thrombosis with threat to limb and life. A patient with a background of ovarian malignancy in remission and pelvic radiotherapy presented with left lower limb phlegmasia cerulea dolens as a result of extensive acute left lower limb deep vein thrombosis, extending from the popliteal vein to the inferior vena cava. While initial rapid thrombolysis and left iliac vein stenting were successful, she developed significant hemorrhagic complications from her right radial intra-arterial line with compartment syndrome requiring fasciotomy.

Background: Case reports describe arterial thrombosis including ischemic stroke associated with severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), but the prevalence of major ischemic events during or shortly after OHSS is unknown.
Methods: Using publicly available administrative datasets in the United States between 2015 and 2020, we conducted two separate cross-sectional studies of patients with OHSS. We included all patients with OHSS.

Objectives: Caner-derived exosomes, containing diverse nucleic acids and proteins, are being exploited in diagnostic biomarker development. This study aims to screen and identify the altered exosomal proteins between epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patient and healthy volunteers, and to evaluate their diagnostic accuracy for EOC.
Methods: Exosomes were separate by ultracentrifugation, and then subjected to TEM, qNano, and western blot for identification.

Hepatic mobilization is essential in debulking surgery for resecting diaphragmatic lesions in advanced ovarian cancer. However, hepatic mobilization potentially induces postoperative portal vein thrombosis and hepatic infarction. No reports exist regarding these postoperative complications of gynecological surgeries.

Ovarian vein thrombosis (OVT), while uncommon, is a serious complication that can arise from pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, oncological conditions, and pelvic surgeries. Here we discuss a case of a 37-year-old woman who, during her postpartum period, experienced lower abdominal pain and fever. Utilizing imaging findings, she was ultimately diagnosed with right ovarian vein thrombosis.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is a leading cause of death among gynaecological malignancies. The haemostatic system, which controls blood flow and prevents clotting disorders, paradoxically drives OC progression while increasing the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as crucial in understanding VTE pathogenesis.

Objective: To determine the incidence of venous thromboembolism in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy in UK gynecological cancer centers. Secondary outcomes included incidence and timing of venous thromboembolism since cancer presentation, impact on cancer treatment, and mortality.
Methods: All UK gynecological cancer centers were invited to participate in this multi-center retrospective audit through the British Gynecological Cancer Society.

Objective: Patients with ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) often present with thrombosis. While cancer patients with concomitant thrombosis were generally reported to have worse prognoses than those without, the association between thrombosis and prognosis has not been elucidated in OCCC. This study aimed to determine how the co-occurrence of thrombosis affects OCCC prognoses.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is the deadliest gynaecological malignancy. Identifying new prognostic biomarkers is an important research field. Haemostatic components together with leukocytes can drive cancer progression while increasing the susceptibility to venous thromboembolism (VTE) through immunothrombosis.

Septic pelvic thrombophlebitis (SPT) is a rare condition that forms thrombosis in the pelvic veins, typically the ovarian veins, with subsequent infection and inflammation. We present a case of right ovarian vein thrombosis (ROVT), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia, and delayed onset of SPT symptoms, requiring tissue-plasminogen activator. A 40-year-old woman, G3P2, at 38 weeks' gestation, was admitted with a fever of 39°C.

Traumatic splenic rupture is rare in pregnant women; and multiple venous thromboses of the portal vein system, inferior vena cava and ovarian vein after caesarean section and splenectomy for splenic rupture has not been previously reported. This case report describes a case of multiple venous thromboses after caesarean section and splenectomy for traumatic splenic rupture in late pregnancy. A 34-year-old G3P1 female presented with abdominal trauma at 33 weeks of gestation.

Introduction: Chemotherapy is part and parcel of the multimodality approach to cancer treatment. Chemoports are frequently used to administer chemotherapy, preventing complications associated with the use of peripheral lines. However, chemoports have their own set of complications and can be very debilitating at times.

Acute abdominal pain is a very common chief complaint in the pediatric population, accounting for 5-10% of emergency department (ED) visits. Etiology differentiation is determined by complete history and physical examination, basic laboratory studies, and a variety of imaging study options. In this case report, we present an 8-year-old female with an unusual etiology of acute lower abdominal pain.
