A20, an ubiquitin-editing enzyme, plays a pivotal role in regulating cell signaling and immune responses. Dysregulated A20 expression has been associated with various pathological conditions, including inflammatory diseases and malignancies, where its expression levels often correlate with differing prognoses in solid tumors. This study aimed to explore the expression and cellular localization of A20 in both nonpathological and diseased human gastric tissues to gain deeper insights into its involvement in gastric pathologies.

Anatomical structures of the liver could be reconstructed three dimensionally from preoperative cross-sectional imaging for over 20 years. This three-dimensional (3D) representation not only optimizes the preoperative planning options but also the communication of specific operation-relevant structures can be improved using 3D models. In addition to a plastic and interactive visualization of 3D organ models, the disruptive technology of virtual reality (VR) can also provide a possibility for structured training and further education regarding surgical anatomy of the liver and operation planning.

Regulation of patient flows into the ambulatory and stationary sectors remains a major issue.In the OPTINOFA project funded by Innovationsfunds, a new triage system was developed for a structured primary evaluation of both urgency and care level of emergency cases.

[Prioritization of research questions in health crises-presentation of a concept developed during the COVID-19 pandemic].

In acute crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, scientific questions need to be addressed quickly in order to protect the health of the population and to maintain the function of the healthcare system. The prevailing urgency and the large number of issues to be addressed, combined with the limitation of time, personnel, or monetary resources make prioritization indispensable. In the COVID-19 Evidence Ecosystem (CEOsys) project initiated by the University Medicine Network (NUM), a procedure for the rapid prioritization of questions was used specifically for evidence syntheses and clinical guideline recommendations, which was further developed in the follow-up project PREparedness and Pandemic Response in Germany (PREPARED).

Recommendations for the quantitative basic evaluation of mind-body medicine courses for university students - results of a consensus-based, systematic decision-making process by experts.

Background: There is an increasing range of mind-body medicine (MBM) courses in Germany to support university students in dealing with stress. The evaluation of these varies and often only has a small number of participants due to the limited group size of the courses. The aim of this project was the development of a quantitative basic evaluation that can be used across all sites that conduct MBM courses.

[Children and adolescents with post-COVID-19 condition: A qualitative study on the experiences and satisfaction with treatment in a model project in Bavaria (Post-COVID Kids Bavaria)].

Background: Against the background of inadequate healthcare provision for children and adolescents with post-COVID-19 syndrome (PCS), a model project was initiated in Bavaria (PoCoKiBa: Post-COVID Kids Bavaria), offering specialized diagnostics and care. The aim of this study was to explore and describe the experiences and satisfaction of children and adolescents with PCS, as well as their parents, with the healthcare provided in the model project.

Methods: From October to December 2022, seven focus group discussions were conducted via video conference or in person with a total of 32 participants (19 children/adolescents, twelve mothers, one father).

With the Network of University Medicine (NUM) and the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII), the BMBF is funding two pioneering, structure-building research measures that are now being merged. The data integration centers (DIZ) of the MII are to be consolidated in the NUM. Cardiovascular risk factors (high blood pressure, smoking, overweight, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, physical inactivity) substantially rise with increasing age, particularly after middle age, whereby women are affected to a much greater extent. In the population of Saxony-Anhalt the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors is clearly increased and the population structure in Saxony-Anhalt is particularly characterized by a high average age as well as high morbidity and mortality rates due to cardiovascular diseases. Saxony-Anhalt therefore provides a model character for the demographic development in Europe.

While in bulk isotropic fluids it is exhaustively studied, this is less so in anisotropic fluids and in confined situations. Here, we combine the latter two by studying the rotation of a disk-like inclusion in a uniaxially anisotropic, globally oriented, incompressible two-dimensional fluid film.

[Young Adult Cancer Patients (AYA): Preferences for Outpatient Psychosocial Care and Gender-Specific Differences - Results from the AYA-LE study].

Objective Of The Study: To investigate the importance of individual topics in outpatient care services and the preferences for their design from the perspective of young adults with cancer (AYA="adolescents and young adults") in Germany.

Methodology: A total of 514 AYAs aged 18-39 years were surveyed twice over a 12-month period (t1=immediately after acute treatment, t2=12 months post-treatment) regarding the importance and satisfaction with topics such as anxiety, the impact of the illness on partnerships/family and social environment, future perspectives, personal coping strategies, sexuality, and desire for children/fertility, as well as the types of care services. The subjective importance and satisfaction with the care topics and services were analyzed using variance and moderator analyses.

Anticoagulation in device-detected atrial fibrillation with or without vascular disease: a combined analysis of the NOAH-AFNET 6 and ARTESiA trials.

Background And Aims: The optimal antithrombotic therapy in patients with device-detected atrial fibrillation (DDAF) is unknown. Concomitant vascular disease can modify the benefits and risks of anticoagulation.

Methods: These pre-specified analyses of the NOAH-AFNET 6 (n = 2534 patients) and ARTESiA (n = 4012 patients) trials compared anticoagulation with no anticoagulation in patients with DDAF with or without vascular disease, defined as prior stroke/transient ischaemic attack, coronary or peripheral artery disease.

Methods And Results: This prespecified analysis of the NOAH-AFNET 6 (Non-Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulants in Patients With Atrial High Rate Episodes) trial with post hoc elements assessed the effect of oral anticoagulation in patients with device-detected AF with and without a prior stroke or TIA in the randomized, double-blind, double-dummy NOAH-AFNET 6 trial.

Nevertheless, no uniform dosage regimen has yet been established, nor has it been possible to determine whether previous pregnancies and births with their respective modes of delivery play a role in the effectiveness of Misoprostol.
