Purpose: To analyze the feasibility and effectiveness of bacterial culture in negative pressure wound drainage (NPWD) fluid in patients with Pyogenic Vertebral Osteomyelitis (PVO).
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 17 patients with PVO who were treated with negative pressure drainage at the Department of Orthopedics in our hospital from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2021. Data was obtained while the patients were in the hospital, including 12 males and 5 females with an average age of 57.
Background: Memorizing mounds of facts without having an effective conceptual framework to store them is often an unsuccessful learning style because memory frequently fails without understanding. To accomplish this goal, we offer a framework of ideas called "concept maps". Of the many strategies for metacognition (that is, thinking about thinking), concept mapping is proven to improve meaningful and independent learning.

Background: (AX) is an aerobic Gram-negative opportunistic bacteria known to inhabit various environments and is most commonly associated with nosocomial infections in immune-compromised patients. Although rare, AX can cause a variety of neurological infections, such as meningitis, ventriculitis, and osteomyelitis. Intravascular catheters, intrathecal pumps, and contaminated surgical instruments are potential vectors for such patients.

Osteomyelitis arises from the incomplete treatment of the external wounds in the healing process, while bacterial infections persist within the bone marrow, leading to abscess formation. Osteomyelitis treatments generally involve three main aspects: rapid bactericidal action, sustained bacteriostasis, and induction of bone regeneration. However, current treatment methods, which often combine surgical debridement with long-term high-dose intravenous antibiotic administration or poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) beads antibiotic therapy, suffer from significant drawbacks and limitations.

To compare the incidence of infection, wound closure and time to wound closure in patients treated with cryopreserved (CPUT) and lyopreserved umbilical tissue (LPUT) in complex diabetic surgical wounds. This single-blinded 12-week randomized clinical trial compared cryopreserved and lyopreserved amniotic cord tissue to treat complex diabetic foot wounds. LPUT or CRAT was applied at baseline and again after four weeks.

Pott Puffy Tumor (PPT) is extremely rare, yet potentially severe condition characterized by osteomyelitis of the frontal bone associated with one or multiple subperiosteal abscesses, primarily from nasosinusitis. It is characterized by localized frontal swelling accompanied by a subperiosteal abscess. Clinicians and radiologists do not widely recognize this complication of frontal sinusitis and, hence it is likely to be overlooked in clinical practice.

The histopathological differential diagnoses of inflammatory infectious and inflammatory noninfectious diseases of the musculoskeletal system, particularly infectious and noninfectious arthritis, soft tissue inflammation and osteomyelitis in rheumatology are presented with a focus on the differential diagnostic possibilities and limitations; however, a diverse spectrum of pathogenic mechanisms underly these diseases, which can present with similar inflammatory response patterns. This wide spectrum of inflammatory pathogenesis of infectious and noninfectious diseases includes diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis, osteomyelitis and pyoderma gangrenosum, which cannot clinically be manifested thus necessitating a histopathological clarification. In terms of tissue sampling the following general principle applies: the larger the tissue sample and the more diverse the sites of tissue extraction, the more conclusive are the histopathological diagnostics.

Background: Bone transport in distraction osteogenesis is an effective, well-known procedure. However, bone compression is an aspect of this technique for which there is no objective information. The lack of direct bone compression measurements may result in a lack of uniformity in the bone transport process, which can result in its ineffective application and may be contributing to its underutilization.

Introduction: Reconstruction of mandibular disarticulation defects is a challenging area of head and neck surgery, with a variety of options available for replacement of the condylar head. The gold standard is autogenous reconstruction of the condyle-ramus unit. The use of a prosthetic condylar head is controversial, but in challenging cases, and those with a likely poor prognosis it may be considered and can achieve a good functional result.

Cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD) is a benign fibro-osseous pathology in which fibrous connective tissues, osteoid and cementum-like materials, replace bone. Concerning the hypovascularization and increased mineralization of bone that occurs in these patients, the clinician may face two types of problems: infectious complications such as osteomyelitis and increased implant failure. The present study aims to report the successful and innovative management of a COD patient complicated by mandibular osteomyelitis and the implant rehabilitation of this area.

Background: Bone defects are commonly encountered due to accidents, diseases, or aging, and the demand for effective bone regeneration, particularly for dental implants, is increasing in our aging society. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are promising candidates for regenerative therapies; however, obtaining sufficient quantities of these cells for clinical applications remains challenging. DW-MSCs, derived from embryonic stem cells and developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical, exhibit a robust proliferative capacity even after extensive culture.
