The quality of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is contingent on the surface characteristics interfacing with blood. Titanium's superior platelet activation, surpassing silica, has made Titanium-platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) a favored autogenous bone graft material due to its extended degradation time. Pioneering a novel approach, this study aims to achieve an enhanced fibrin structure using glass tubes coated with nano-titanium, marking the surface's debut in our PRF production endeavors.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to obtain real-life data on the use of antimyeloma agents, which significantly increase overall survival (OS) in multiple myeloma (MM) patients, in primary plasma cell leukemia (pPCL) patients with poor prognosis.

Materials And Methods: Data from 53 patients who were diagnosed with pPCL between 2011 and 2020 and who used at least one proteasome inhibitor (PI) and/or immunomodulatory (IMID) agent were analyzed retrospectively. Depending on the year of the pPCL diagnosis, 20% leukocytes or ≥2x10/L plasma cells in the peripheral blood was used as a diagnostic criterion.

The current study examined the effectiveness of Rhinapi, a hypertonic saline nasal spray with Anatolian propolis added, on allergic rhinitis (AR) symptoms in a European population. Four hundred and forty AR patients (251 males and 189 females) from various European centers were enrolled. Nasal examination, overall symptom scores, individual AR symptoms (nasal discharge, sneezing, nasal itching, and nasal obstruction), and quality of life (QoL) were assessed before and after 3 weeks of treatment with Rhinapi, the nasal spray made of hypertonic saline with Anatolian propolis added (Bee&You, Istanbul, Turkey).

  • Many Western European countries have strong surveillance and reporting systems for invasive meningococcal disease (IMD), primarily caused by serogroup B (MenB), and they implement standardized testing and vaccination programs.
  • Despite these efforts, there is still a significant need for advocacy to improve diagnosis, testing, and treatment of meningococcal disease.
  • Recent awareness campaigns have highlighted the dangers of antibiotic resistance, with some countries reporting strains of meningococcus that are resistant to key antibiotics.

  • Prurigo nodularis is a chronic skin condition that leads to intense itching, and narrowband-UVB (NB-UVB) phototherapy is a potential treatment, especially for patients with other health issues.
  • In a study involving 30 patients, NB-UVB therapy resulted in complete response (80%) or partial response (20%) to treatment, with better outcomes for those with diffuse and central lesions.
  • The study highlights the effectiveness and safety of NB-UVB for treating prurigo nodularis, but acknowledges its limitations, such as being conducted at a single center and having a retrospective design.

  • A 1-year-old boy with superior vena cava syndrome and persistent chylothorax had surgery that successfully resolved his condition without needing cardiopulmonary bypass.
  • His complicated medical history included multiple health issues like myeloproliferative disease and short bowel syndrome, along with previous central vein catheterizations and anticoagulant use due to vein thrombosis.
  • Despite dietary changes and somatostatin treatment, his high-output chylous pleural effusion remained until he underwent an innominate vein-to-right atrial bypass, leading to a significant reduction in effusion and improved recovery.

Although metallic implants provide most of the required properties for bone-related applications, especially orthopedic implants, insufficient osseointegration, which may lead to loosening of the implant or prolonged healing time, is still an issue to be resolved. Osseointegration can be improved via application of various surface treatments on the metal surface. The current study focuses on a novel surface microdeformation method, which enables the formation of controlled surface patterns of various parameters.
