I.K.Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, 92 Akhunbaev str., Bishkek 720020, Kyrgyzstan, e-mail:

The aim of the study was to study the role of serum vascular endothelial growth factor and to determine its clinical significance in elderly and senile patients. The study included 124 people (40 men and 84 women) aged 60 to 89 years, the average age was 68,8±7,4 years. Serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were studied in the work; blood lipid spectrum parameters, indicators of acute phase blood proteins: C-reactive protein (C-RP), fibrinogen; glomerular filtration rate (GFR) according to the CKD-EPI formula based on serum creatinine and according to the F.

Migrants are at increased risk of developing tuberculosis (TB) and have poor treatment outcomes. The National TB program (NTP) of the Kyrgyz Republic recognizes two types of migrants: internal (intra-country) and external (inter-country) migrants. This cohort study compared the characteristics, timeliness of diagnosis and treatment initiation, and treatment outcomes of TB patients (internal migrant vs.

The Kyrgyz Republic is a high-burden country for rifampicin resistant/multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (RR/MDR-TB). TB control efforts rely on early diagnosis and initiation of people on effective regimens. We studied the interval from diagnosis of RR-TB to starting treatment and risk factors for unsuccessful outcomes among people who started RR/MDR-TB treatment in 2021.

Patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) who have comorbidities, complications, and experience serious adverse events (SAEs) are at substantial risk of having unfavorable hospital outcomes. We assessed characteristics and discharge outcomes of 138 MDR-TB patients hospitalized in the National Referral Center of Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, from January 2020 to August 2022. The main clinical characteristics included pulmonary complications (23%), malnutrition (33%), severe anemia (17%), diabetes mellitus (13%), viral hepatitis B and C (5%), and HIV infection (3%).

Pediatric oncology, which includes cancer screening and therapy in children, poses significant challenges in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Palliative care improves children's and their families' quality of life. In LMICs, palliative care resources are scarce, resulting in poor symptom management, psychological support, and spiritual care.

Article Synopsis
  • MCL1 is an anti-apoptotic protein linked to cancer cell survival and is overexpressed in many cancers, making it a potential target for therapy.
  • Researchers are using virtual screening methods on phytoconstituents from the IMPPAT database to find compounds that can effectively inhibit MCL1.
  • Isopongaflavone was identified as a promising candidate with strong binding affinity to MCL1, suggesting it may be developed into a new anticancer treatment.

The Y chromosome carries information about the demography of paternal lineages, and thus, can prove invaluable for retracing both the evolutionary trajectory of wild animals and the breeding history of domesticates. In horses, the Y chromosome shows a limited, but highly informative, sequence diversity, supporting the increasing breeding influence of Oriental lineages during the last 1500 years. Here, we augment the primary horse Y-phylogeny, which is currently mainly based on modern horse breeds of economic interest, with haplotypes (HT) segregating in remote horse populations around the world.

Introduction: Chronic rhinitis and chronic turbinate hypertrophy are conditions that affect the quality of life of individuals. The conchas, or the three half-crescent-shaped structures in the nasal cavity, play a crucial role in the respiratory system by filtering and humidifying the air we breathe. The growth of the conchas outside of normal physiological conditions can lead to conditions such as hyperplasia of the inferior turbinate and hypertrophy of the inferior turbinate.

Primary hyperparathyroidism is caused by solitary parathyroid adenomas (PTAs) in most cases (⁓85%), and it has been previously reported that PTAs are associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and type-2 diabetes (T2D). To understand the molecular basis of PTAs, we have investigated the genetic association amongst PTAs, CVD and T2D through an integrative network-based approach and observed a remarkable resemblance. The current study proposed to compare the PTAs-associated proteins with the overlapping proteins of CVD and T2D to determine the disease relationship.

With increasing age in the human body, various pathophysiological changes are observed in response to the effects of various factors, taking into account the genetic predisposition. Among the possible factors causing an increase in cardiovascular risk in the general population are the level of blood pressure, changes in lipid metabolism and inflammation markers, as well as the magnitude of the filtration function of the kidneys. This publication examined inflammatory markers, lipid metabolism, and renal function in 269 (136 males and 133 females) young, middle, elderly, and senile patients at high cardiovascular risk.
