Introduction: Intussusception is a potentially life-threatening condition, and a frequent cause of bowel obstruction during the first two years of life. We hypothesized that patients who were transferred from outside community hospitals, or OSH, without tertiary care capabilities for pediatric services to a large academic children's hospital with intussusception were more likely to require operative management for their intussusception than those who were directly admitted.

Methods: The electronic medical record was queried for patients presenting to Ann and Robert H.

Familiarity with stimuli that bring neither reward nor punishment, manifested through behavioral habituation, enables organisms to detect novelty and devote cognition to important elements of the environment. Here we describe in mice a form of long-term behavioral habituation to visual grating stimuli that is selective for stimulus orientation. Orientation-selective habituation (OSH) can be observed both in exploratory behavior in an open arena and in a stereotyped motor response to visual stimuli in head-restrained mice.

Total Worker Health (TWH) was introduced and the term was trademarked in 2011 by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to formally signal the expansion of traditional occupational safety and health (OSH) to include wellness and well-being. We searched PubMed, PsycINFO, and other databases using keywords TWH, health promotion, health protection, and variants for articles meeting the criteria of (a) employing both occupational safety and/or health (OSH, or health protection) and wellness and/or well-being (health promotion, or HP) in the same intervention study, and (b) reporting both OSH and HP outcomes. Only 17 published studies met these criteria.

Activation of Methane by Os : Guided-Ion-Beam and Theoretical Studies.

Chempluschem

September 2013

Chemistry Department, University of Utah, 315 S. 1400 E. Rm. 2020, Salt Lake City, UT 84112 (USA).

Activation of methane by the third-row transition-metal cation Os is studied experimentally by examining the kinetic energy dependence of reactions of Os with CH and CD using guided-ion-beam tandem mass spectrometry. A flow tube ion source produces Os in its electronic ground state and primarily in the ground spin-orbit level. Dehydrogenation to form [Os,C,2 H] +H is exothermic, efficient, and the only process observed at low energies for reaction of Os with methane, whereas OsH dominates the product spectrum at higher energies.
