Objective: Extracting immunological and clinical heterogeneity across autoimmune rheumatic diseases (AIRDs) is essential towards personalised medicine.
Methods: We conducted large-scale and cohort-wide immunophenotyping of 46 peripheral immune cells using Human Immunology Protocol of comprehensive 8-colour flow cytometric analysis. Dataset consisted of >1000 Japanese patients of 11 AIRDs with deep clinical information registered at the FLOW study, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

A 47-year-old man with a history of hypertension was found to have a prominent aortic knob on routine chest X-ray and was referred to our hospital. Enhanced computed tomography angiography showed severe flexion at the proximal descending aorta with chronic type B dissection localized to the flexion region. Graft replacement of the distal aortic arch was performed.

Objective: This study aimed to synthesise available evidence on the efficacy of antenatal corticosteroid (ACS) therapy among women at risk of imminent preterm birth with pregestational/gestational diabetes, chorioamnionitis or fetal growth restriction (FGR), or planned caesarean section (CS) in the late preterm period.
Methods: A systematic search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Global Index Medicus was conducted for all comparative randomised or non-randomised interventional studies in the four subpopulations on 6 June 2021. Risk of Bias Assessment tool for Non-randomised Studies and the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool were used to assess the risk of bias.

Cisplatin-based chemotherapy has been associated with durable disease control in a small subset of patients with metastatic urothelial cancer. However, the mechanistic basis for this phenomenon has remained elusive. Antitumor immunity may underlie these exceptional responders.

This study tries to explain the mechanisms by gender difference in social interaction based on a theory of social amplification of risk framework (SARF). We surveyed older adults in Japan regarding their anxiety regarding COVID-19, as well as the frequencies of their direct and indirect social interaction in July 2020 ( = 1,587, aged 78-99 years).

Objectives: To delineate characteristics of non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA) in Asia versus non-Asian regions, and compare radiographic axSpA (r-axSpA) with nr-axSpA within Asia.
Methods: Data were collected from the Assessment of SpondyloArthritis international Society-COMOrbidities in SPondyloArthritis database. Categorising patients by region, we compared clinical characteristics between nr-axSpA from Asia vs elsewhere (Europe, the Americas and Africa).

Introduction: Although individualized target glycated hemoglobin (HbA) levels are recommended in older people with type 2 diabetes, studies report high levels of potential overtreatment. We aimed to investigate the proportion of older patients (aged ≥65 years) who potentially received an inappropriately intensive treatment (HbA level <7.0% (53.

Objective: We examined the hypothesis that baseline retinal vascular geometry in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) predicts disease activity 6 months after panretinal photocoagulation (PRP).
Methods And Analysis: We included 47 eyes from 40 patients with treatment-naïve PDR in a 6-month prospective study. Diagnosis of PDR and disease activity was evaluated by wide-field fluorescein angiography (Optomap, Optos, Dunfermline, Scotland, UK).

Introduction: The optimal target of mean arterial pressure (MAP) for better outcomes in patients with vasodilatory shock remains a matter of debate. Although catecholamines are generally used to maintain target blood pressure in hypotensive patients with vasodilatory shock, the adverse effects of catecholamines must also be considered. We will perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) to assess the certainty of evidence determining the optimal target of MAP control for patients with vasodilatory shock in critically ill settings.

Background: In preoperative embolization for intracranial meningioma, endovascular intratumoral embolization is considered to be more effective for the reduction of tumorous vascularity than proximal feeder occlusion. In this study, we aimed to reveal different efficacies for reducing tumor blood flow in meningiomas by comparing endovascular intratumoral embolization and proximal feeder occlusion using dynamic susceptibility contrast-enhanced perfusion-weighted imaging (DSC-PWI).
Methods: 28 consecutive patients were included.

Objectives: Opioids are often administered for cancer-related pain relief. However, few reports have evaluated the association between opioids and immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment for patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The aim of this retrospective study was to reveal the effect of opioids on the prognosis of patients harbouring NSCLC treated with nivolumab.

Purpose: To date, there is no compelling evidence of the optimal timing of surgery for congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). This study aimed to establish the optimal timing of surgery in neonates with isolated left-sided CDH.
Methods: This multicenter cohort study enrolled 276 patients with isolated left-sided CDH at 15 institutions.

Objective: The causality and pathogenic mechanism of microbiome composition remain elusive in many diseases, including autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed to elucidate gut microbiome's role in RA pathology by a comprehensive metagenome-wide association study (MWAS).
Methods: We conducted MWAS of the RA gut microbiome in the Japanese population (=82, =42) by using whole-genome shotgun sequencing of high depth (average 13 Gb per sample).
