Mixed-ligand and mixed-metal trinuclear complexes bearing two {Pt-bisNHC-C1} moieties, [{Pt(bisNHC-C1)}(ML)(μ-S)] (ML = Pt(bisNHC-C2), = 2; ML = Pt(bisNHC-C3), = 2; ML = Rh(cod), = 1; ML = RhCp*, = 2), where bisNHC-C1, bisNHC-C2 and bisNHC-C3 represent methylene-, ethylene- and propylene-bridged bis-NHC ligands, respectively, were synthesised and structurally characterised. Reactions of these complexes with a half eq. of Ag(i) ions were examined using H and Pt NMR spectroscopy.

Therefore, finding a protective substance against obesity and elucidating its molecular mechanism is one of the most important problems for improving human health. In this study, we investigated the antiobesity effect of extract (MFE).

However, its availability in Japan is limited because it requires adherence to specific guidelines, commitment of sufficient time for frequent outpatient treatment, as well as the entire family's participation. We present a case of a patient with AN who was treated with modified FBT during hospitalization.

Understanding evolutionary phenomena that involve size assortative mating requires elucidating the generating mechanisms on which assortment is based. Although various mechanisms have been suggested, their relative importance may differ across taxonomic groups. Males selecting for large, fecund females combined with the dominance of large males in the competition for females has been suggested as a major mechanism in specific groups.

The phylogenetic tree of the species pool is reconstructed in the first step, and the phylogenetic tree obtained in the second step is used to analyze phylogenetic diversity. Sythetic trees have often been used in the construction of phylogenentic trees; however, in tropical rainforests with many closely related species, synthetic trees contain many unresolved nodes, which may affect the results of phylogenetic structure analysis.

An 81-year-old man was diagnosed with nodular hepatic lesion of extramedullary plasmacytoma with the absence of FDG uptake. Doppler ultrasonography showed pulsations and abundant blood flow signals within the tumor. The blood flow was temporally reduced after daratumumab-based induction therapy; however, the tumor rapidly re-expanded with blood reflow.

Aim: Accurately calculating the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score is essential for medical resource allocation and decision-making. This study surveyed Japanese intensive care units regarding their assessment of the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and PaO/FIO ratio, components of the SOFA score.
Methods: A cross-sectional, web-based survey was conducted among healthcare workers.

A novel neutral diradical of π-extended phenalenyl derivative having three oxo-groups, tri-tert-butyl-1,4,7-trioxophenalenyl, and two types of the corresponding σ-dimers were investigated. Quantum chemical calculations showed that the neutral diradical is in triplet ground state having doubly degenerate singly occupied molecular orbitals. The neutral diradical undergoes a σ-dimerization, generating two types of σ-dimers immediately after the preparation.

Aim: We aimed to identify subphenotypes among patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) with initial non-shockable rhythm by applying machine learning latent class analysis and examining the associations between subphenotypes and neurological outcomes.
Methods: This study was a retrospective analysis within a multi-institutional prospective observational cohort study of OHCA patients in Osaka, Japan (the CRITICAL study). The data of adult OHCA patients with medical causes and initial non-shockable rhythm presenting with OHCA between 2012 and 2016 were included in machine learning latent class analysis models, which identified subphenotypes, and patients who presented in 2017 were included in a dataset validating the subphenotypes.

We have succeeded in synthesizing meso-porous α-GaO which shows significantly high photocatalytic activity for CO reduction with water. The sample was synthesized by hydroxidation of liquid Ga metal in water to obtain GaOOH and Ga(OH), followed by the calcination of the mixed hydroxides at 773 K for 1 hour which converted them to meso-porous α-GaO. The nano-pores remained as the trace of the evaporation of water produced by the oxidation of the hydroxides during the calcination.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOptical properties of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) can be tuned by doping with transition metal ions. In this study, water-soluble CdSe/ZnS:Mn/ZnS QDs with the core/shell/shell structure were synthesized through a hydrothermal method, in which the surface of the CdSe core was coated with a ZnS:Mn shell and ZnS capping shell. Herein, the CdSe core QDs were prepared first and then doped with Mn; therefore, the QD size and doping level could be controlled independently and interference from the self-purifying effect could be avoided.

Background & Aims: Tolvaptan, vasopressin V2-receptor antagonist, has been used for patients with difficult-to-treat ascites in Japan. In this study, we conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) in the Japanese population to identify genetic variants associated with tolvaptan's efficacy for patients with hepatic ascites.
Methods: From 2014 through 2018, genomic DNA samples were obtained from 550 patients who were treated with tolvaptan.

Background And Aim: The Gut and Obesity in Asia Workgroup recently reported that a two-step approach using fibrosis scores followed by liver stiffness measurement (LSM) could accurately detect patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) having advanced fibrosis in low-risk fibrosis populations. This study aimed to validate the utility of this approach using a Japanese health checkup registry.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included subjects who underwent a health checkup from 2014 to 2019.
A 55-year-old man was diagnosed with therapy-related chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (t-CMML) after exposure to tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil. Although he was refractory to hydroxyurea and low-dose cytarabine, combination therapy with cytarabine, aclarubicin and azacitidine (CA-AZA) provided good disease control, and he underwent allogeneic stem cell transplantation. This report has two key massages.

However, less attention has been placed on unpredictable environmental variation, which is considered to affect evolutionary trajectories by increasing phenotypic variation (or bet hedging). Here, we examine the occurrence of bet hedging in egg developmental rates in seven species of annual killifish that originate from a gradient of variation in precipitation rates, under three treatment incubation temperatures (21, 23, and 25°C).

During myofibroblast differentiation, fibroblasts progress through polarization stages of early proinflammation, intermediate proliferation, and late maturation, but the regulators of this progression are poorly understood. Planar cell polarity receptors, receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 1 and 2 (Ror1/2), can function to promote cell differentiation and transformation.

Na and Cl are the most abundant dissolved ions in seawater, constituting ~ 85% of total ions. They significantly affect the osmolality of body fluids of marine invertebrates. Seawater also contains minor ions such as Mg, Ca, K, and SO , but their effects on marine organisms are unclear.
