Iliopsoas Tenotomy Does Not Negatively Affect Hip Flexion Strength in Crowe 3 and 4 Hips Undergoing Total Hip Arthroplasty.

Background: In total hip arthroplasty (THA), even if there is a dislocated hip, restoring the anatomical center of rotation increases long-term survival and hip function. Even with a shortening osteotomy, the procedure is still challenging due to soft-tissue tension. Therefore, soft tissue releases such as iliopsoas tenotomy may be necessary.

[Total hip arthroplasty with supracondylar shortening osteotomy in Crowe 4 inveterate hip dislocation: case report and surgical technique].

Structural deformities of the acetabulum secondary to developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) are one of the most common causes requiring total hip arthroplasty (THA), whether in conjunction with femoral osteotomy in cases of Crowe dislocation 4. Several techniques have been described, studied, and compared, but there is no superiority of one technique over another. Currently, most hip surgeons perform a subtrochanteric osteotomy.

Objectives: The study aimed to culturally adapt the full version of the Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS) into Turkish and evaluate its reliability and validity.

Patients And Methods: Patients with hip osteoarthritis were included in the methodological crosscultural adaptation study between May 2022 and December 2022. We translated and adapted the HOOS into a Turkish version and validated it in a cohort of native Turkish-speaking patients with hip osteoarthritis.

Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study. Data from the CNRM and SBOT system referring to residents attending orthopedics and traumatology Programs in 2020/2021 were analyzed.

[Distal biceps brachii rupture in a patient with COVID-19].

Introduction: distal biceps tendon injury commonly occurs in male patients between the fifth and sixth decade of life. The mechanism of the injury is an eccentric contraction with the elbow in flexion of 90 degrees. For its surgical treatment, several options have been described in the literature with different approaches, type of suture to be used and various methods of fixing the repair of the distal biceps tendon.

[Validation of the modified IMPROVE scale in patients undergoing primary total hip arthroplasty].

Introduction: Major orthopedic surgery such as total hip arthroplasty (THA) is associated with an increased risk of postoperative complications. Candidates for THA are often older adults, with comorbidities that increase the risk of major bleeding, the IMPROVE scale has independent actors on the risk of bleeding according to the characteristics of the patients at hospital admission. It foresees the possibility of hemorrhage and the need for blood transfusion, being support in decision-making in the planning of a safe THA with the provision of the necessary resources.

Osteoporosis is a worldwide epidemic, affecting an average of 30% to 50% of those over 50 years of age in Latin America. Resulting from it is another epidemic, that of fragility fractures, which adversely affects morbidity and mortality of this population. Increasing in their incidence, fragility fractures are expected to occur in 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over 50years of age during their lifetimes.

Introduction: The biggest challenge in the treatment of acute ankle sprain is the uncertainty of the prognosis. The traditional classifications have several interpretations and little correlation with prognosis. In this study we propose a new classification for acute ankle sprain only based on clinical criteria.

Is It Possible to Treat Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip with Anterior Open Reduction and Pemberton Osteotomy Under 18 Months of Age?

Purpose Of The Study: The purpose of the present study is to determine the outcome success of anterior open reduction with Pemberton osteotomy in patients under 18 months of age with developmental dysplasia of the hip.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical and radiological results of 27 developmental hip dysplasia patients under 18 months of age (26 girls, 1 boy) who underwent anterior open reduction with Pemberton osteotomy. Bilateral surgery was performed in 18 patients and unilateral in nine patients.

Autologous osteochondral transplantation provides succesful recovery in patients with simultaneous medial and lateral talus osteochondral lesions.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the success of simultaneous medial and lateral autologous osteochondral transplantation (AOT) in patients with both medial and lateral osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT) who could not be treated with bone marrow stimulation techniques or whose previous treatments failed.

Methods: Five patients who underwent medial and lateral talus AOT in the same session due to simultaneous OLT on medial and lateral talar dome were included in this retrospective study. All the patients were male, and the mean age was 34.

Methods: This prospective study included patients undergoing primary cementless THA due to hip osteoarthritis between January 2018 and January 2019 in a tertiary-level hospital. [How to Resume Elective Orthopaedic Surgical Procedures during the COVID-19 Pandemic?].

This document was prepared by the College of Orthopedics of the Portuguese Medical Association with the aim of developing the guidelines on the resumption of elective surgical activity in Orthopedics during the COVID-19 pandemic. It sets the criteria that allow the prioritization of surgeries according to the severity of the clinical situation, based on existing and published classifications. Moreover, it provides an organizational model for patient preparation and describes the patient pathways in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative periods.

Minimum 10-Year Results of Cementless Ceramic-On-Ceramic Total Hip Arthroplasty Performed With Transverse Subtrochanteric Osteotomy in Crowe Type IV Hips.

Background: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) performed for developmental dysplasia of the hip is a technically difficult procedure with a high complication rate, especially in the presence of completely dislocated hips. Introduction: Mirror hand syndrome is a very rare congenital deformity, also called cubital dimelia, characterized by the absence of the thumb, as well as the duplication of the fingers in a symmetrical image and, in some cases, with a duplication of the bones of the forearm.

Methods: The current treatment consists of a thumb reconstruction through thumb pollicization, although there are alternatives such as rotating osteotomy, syndactylization or conservative treatment. In this article we present the case of a girl with a non-classic bilateral mirror hand, the clinical and radiological findings, the bilateral surgical technique in two surgical times with six months of difference and two years follow-up.

Comparison of 1-year results of single transforaminal epidural steroid injection among patients with different spinal pathologies-related radicular pain.

Aims: This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) in patients with lumbar radicular pain or radiculopathy caused by different spinal pathologies.

Methods: One hundred and seventy seven patients who underwent single transforaminal epidural steroid injection were included in the study group and divided into 3 subgroups (central spinal stenosis + lateral recess stenosis, foraminal stenosis, lumbar disc herniation) according to existing spinal pathology. Patients' visuel analogue scale (VAS) measures and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores were recorded and the patients who give favourable response to treatment were called respondents and who were not called as non-respondents.
