Purpose: The purpose of our work was to demonstrate the surgical technique of ankle arthrodesis using the minimally-invasive transfibular (MITF) approach, which minimizes soft tissue damage and is advantageous for high-risk patients.

Methods: In this prospective study, a total of 12 patients with end-stage varus ankle osteoarthritis, including high-risk individuals, underwent ankle arthrodesis using the MITF approach. The technique involves a unique osteotomy at the joint space level, minimizing soft tissue detachment from the fibula.

Introduction: Chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) is defined as pain that persists after a surgical procedure and has a significant impact on quality of life. Previous studies show the importance of psychological factors in CPSP, yet the majority of studies focused solely on negative emotions. This longitudinal observational study aims to broaden this knowledge base by examining the role of emotional state, emotion variability, emotion regulation and emotion differentiation on the child and the parent level for the development CPSP, and to describe pain and emotion-related trajectories following surgery.

Imaging-guided spinal injections are a minimally invasive method to evaluate where the back pain is originating from, and to treat patients with radicular pain or spinal stenosis with infiltration of corticosteroids. CT-guided spine injections are a safe procedure, characterized by precise needle placement, excellent visualization of the relevant anatomical structures, and low radiation exposure for the patient and the interventional radiologist.

Mucolipidosis type III (MLIII) gamma is a rare inherited lysosomal storage disorder caused by mutations in encoding the γ-subunit of GlcNAc-1-phosphotransferase, the key enzyme ensuring proper intracellular location of multiple lysosomal enzymes. Patients with MLIII gamma typically present with osteoarthritis and joint stiffness, suggesting cartilage involvement. Using knockout ( ) mice as a model of the human disease, we showed that missorting of a number of lysosomal enzymes is associated with intracellular accumulation of chondroitin sulfate in chondrocytes and their impaired differentiation, as well as with altered microstructure of the cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM).

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous connective tissue disorder characterized by bone fragility and skeletal deformity. To maintain skeletal strength and integrity, bone undergoes constant remodeling of its extracellular matrix (ECM) tightly controlled by osteoclast-mediated bone resorption and osteoblast-mediated bone formation. There are at least 20 recognized OI-forms caused by mutations in the two collagen type I-encoding genes or genes implicated in collagen folding, posttranslational modifications or secretion of collagen, osteoblast differentiation and function, or bone mineralization.
