Establishing a strong local reputation is essential for growing your practice. Primary care physicians, pediatricians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and fellow orthopedic surgeons are key sources of referrals for new and old practices alike. Additionally, there is nothing better than a referral from a satisfied patient, whether it is through word of mouth to their friends and family members or publicly through an online review website.

Background: Arthroscopic diagnosis and treatment of femoroacetabular pathology has experienced significant growth in the last 30 years; nevertheless, reduced utilization of orthopaedic procedures has been observed among the underrepresented population.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to examine racial differences in case incidence rates, outcomes, and complications in patients undergoing hip arthroscopy. It was hypothesized that racial and ethnic minority patients would undergo hip arthroscopy at a decreased rate compared with their White counterparts but that there would be no differences in clinical outcomes.

Background: Tendon transfers in conjunction with reverse total shoulder arthroplasty can significantly improve functional outcomes in patients with glenohumeral arthritis and irreparable rotator cuff deficiency. There have been multiple promising new techniques described within the last 20 years that shoulder surgeons should become familiar with.
Methods: The authors reviewed the literature on tendon transfers in the setting of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty.
Objectives: The objective of this study was to report outcomes of the Retrograde Femoral Nail-Advanced with Lateral Attachment Washer (RFNA-LAW) (Synthes, Paoli, PA) compared with laterally locked plates (LLP) when treating AO/OTA type 33 distal femoral fractures.
Design: Retrospective chart review.
Setting: Single, academic, Level-1 Trauma Center.

Background: The Latarjet procedure is increasingly being utilized for the treatment of glenoid bone loss and has a relatively high neurological complication rate. Understanding the position-dependent anatomy of the axillary nerve (AN) is crucial to preventing injuries.
Purpose: To quantify the effects of changes in the shoulder position and degree of glenoid bone loss during the Latarjet procedure on the position of the AN.
Combined anterior cruciate ligament/medial collateral ligament (ACL/MCL) injuries are relatively common, and multiple factors are involved in surgical decision-making, particularly when it comes to the MCL. Historically, most surgeons treated the MCL conservatively and performed staged MCL reconstruction after MCL reconstruction only if there was persistent medial instability. This was followed by a nonoperative approach for the MCL (when reconstructing the ACL) unless there was evidence of extreme (grade III or >1 cm) valgus instability, valgus malalignment, or mid-substance or tibial-sided injury, avulsion, or Stener lesion.

Objectives: To analyze patients, injury patterns, and treatment of femoral neck fractures (FNFs) in young patients with FNFs associated with shaft fractures (assocFNFs) to improve clinical outcomes. The secondary goal was to compare this injury pattern to that of young patients with isolated FNFs (isolFNFs).
Design: Retrospective multicenter cohort series.

Background: To characterize the mechanism of knee injuries among NBA players during the 2010-2020 seasons using video-based analysis.
Methods: An injury database of NBA players was queried for knee injuries from the 2006-07 to 2020-21 seasons and cross-referenced with NBA injury reports. Youtube.
The rise of online platforms like YouTube for health information has prompted scrutiny over the quality of medical/surgical-related video content. Recent research on YouTube videos regarding anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with quadriceps tendon autograft shows low educational quality and reliability using established assessment tools. Physicians primarily published content, with longer videos, and physician-generated videos, generally correlating with higher quality.

Objective: Lower extremity ankle and knee injuries occur at a high rate in the National Basketball Association (NBA) often requiring surgical intervention. This study aimed to identify surgical rates and risk factors for surgical intervention using multivariate analysis in ankle and knee injuries in NBA player.
Methods: Player demographics, performance metrics, advanced statistics, and injury characteristics were recorded using publicly available data.

Context: The 2019-2020 NBA season was altered significantly by the COVID-19 pandemic with a midseason suspension of games, the NBA 'bubble' tournament, and a shortened offseason. Concerns were raised regarding player conditioning and the potential increased risk of injury due to the schedule changes. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated schedule changes on NBA injuries.

Orthopaedic surgery often results in pain, with less than half of patients reporting adequate relief. Unrelieved acute pain occurring after surgery increases the risk of negative sequelae, including delayed healing, increased morbidity, pulmonary complications, limited rehabilitation participation, anxiety, depression, increased length of stay, prolonged duration of opioid use, and the development of chronic pain. Interventions that are individualized, evidence-informed, and applied within an ethical framework improve healthcare delivery for patients, clinicians, and healthcare organizations.

Purpose: Women with a history of pelvic fracture undergo cesarean section (CS) at a higher rate than the general population. The purpose of our study is to query obstetricians on their preferences.
Methods: An electronic survey consisting of 22 radiographs of patients who underwent pelvic fixation was sent to obstetricians at 3 academic medical centers.
Case: We present a case of an anteroposterior compression (APC) type pelvic ring injury that occurred after chiropractic manipulation in a patient with a history of quadriplegia. Emergent surgical stabilization was undertaken, and he had an excellent outcome with no complications at 3.5-year follow-up.

Introduction: The use of traditional, image intensifier fluoroscopy with a radiopaque grid during direct anterior total hip arthroplasty (DA THA) has demonstrated reduced variability in component positioning and operative time compared to fluoroscopy without a grid. A disadvantage of image intensifier fluoroscopy is spatial distortion, particularly compared to flat-panel fluoroscopy systems. The purpose of this study is to determine whether flat-panel fluoroscopy decreases variability in component positioning during DA THA compared to the use of traditional grid fluoroscopy.

Background: Medication preparation and administration are complex tasks that nurses must perform daily within today's complicated health care environment. Despite more than two decades of efforts to reduce medication errors, it's well known that such errors remain prevalent. Obtaining insight from direct care nurses may clarify where opportunities for improvement exist and guide future efforts to do so.

Introduction: Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) after prior acetabular fracture repair is known to be demanding as studies have shown inferior implant survival rates and higher infection rates for these procedures. The direct anterior (DA) approach might help mitigate some of these risks by utilizing a new surgical tissue plane. However, potential criticisms of the DA approach for these surgeries include the inability to access previous acetabular implants or heterotopic ossification (HO) if they were to inhibit implant placement.
