A 66 year old woman with end-stage renal disease and liver cirrhosis due to chronic hepatitis C virus infection was introduced to hemodialysis therapy in 2003. In 2007, hepatocellular carcinoma was identified and the patient underwent radio frequency ablation (RFA) and ethanol injection therapy (EIT) under laparotomy. A large vaginal tumor was incidentally found at gynecological examination.

Three patients on long-term hemodialysis therapy presented with sudden-onset isolated abducent nerve palsy. Two patients had ipsilateral eye pain. Computed tomographic scan or magnetic resonance imaging of the head did not reveal intracranial lesions responsible for the palsy.

A 63-year-old man on long-term hemodialysis therapy was hospitalized due to right lower abdominal pain. CT scan demonstrated a multiple concentric structure in the ileocecal region. Colonoscopy showed a polyp-like tumor arising from the expected location of the appendix, with a dimple at the top.

There has been little information regarding the pharmacokinetics of antithyroid drugs in patients with endstage renal disease (ESRD). We report here the pharmacokinetics and dialyzability of the antithyroid drug thiamazole in a chronic hemodialysis patient with hyperthyroidism. The patient was a 46-year-old woman who complained of palpitations 3 years after starting chronic hemodialysis therapy, followed by several episodes of pulmonary edema.
