This study explores innovative drywell designs for managed aquifer recharge (MAR) in agricultural settings, focusing on smaller diameter and deeper drywells, including the repurposing of dried or abandoned wells. Numerical simulations assessed the impact of drywell diameter (5-120 cm), depth (15-55 m), screen height, and subsurface heterogeneity on infiltration (I) and recharge (R) volumes over a one-year period under constant head conditions. Results indicate that smaller diameter drywells can effectively infiltrate and recharge significant water volumes.

This is particularly true when the unique neoplasms are of the same histologic type. Here we report such a case where comprehensive tumor profiling by next generation sequencing (NGS) as well as immunohistochemistry revealed two independent adenocarcinomas comprising what was initially diagnosed as a single adenocarcinoma of the gastroesophageal (GEJ) junction.

Lacto-fermented fruits and vegetables (FVs) such as kimchi, sauerkraut, and fermented olives and nonalcoholic juices have a long history as dietary staples. Herein, the production steps and microbial ecology of lacto-fermented FVs are discussed alongside findings from human and laboratory studies investigating the health benefits of these foods. Lacto-fermented FVs are enriched in bioactive compounds, including lactic and acetic acids, phenolic compounds, amino acid derivatives such as indole-3-lactic acid, phenyl-lactic acid, γ-aminobutyric acid, and bacteriocins, and beneficial live microbes.

Volcanic provinces are among the most active but least well understood landscapes on Earth. Here, we show that the central Cascade arc, USA, exhibits systematic spatial covariation of topography and hydrology that are linked to aging volcanic bedrock, suggesting systematic controls on landscape evolution. At the Cascade crest, a locus of Quaternary volcanism, water circulates deeply through the upper [Formula: see text]1 km of crust but transitions to shallow and dominantly horizontal flow as rocks age away from the arc front.

Indeed, lab studies have provided evidence that people can detect others' SES and that they may use this information to apply stereotypes that influence interpersonal decisions. Here, we examine how SES and SES-based stereotypes affect real-world social interactions between people from a socioeconomically diverse population.

Age-associated differences in FIRES: Characterizing prodromal presentation and long-term outcomes via the web-based NORSE/FIRES Family Registry.

Febrile infection-related epilepsy syndrome (FIRES) is a rare clinical presentation of refractory status epilepticus following a febrile infection. This study analyzes data from the NORSE/FIRES Family Registry, an international web-based registry available in six languages with data entered by patients, families, and clinicians to explore clinical presentations, survivorship, and long-term outcomes in adult and pediatric FIRES patients. We characterize and examine differences in demographics, prodromal symptoms, seizure frequency, anti-seizure medications (ASMs), quality of life, cognition, mood, and anxiety in adults vs pediatric populations with FIRES.

Remote monitoring, now an integral component of patient care, places considerable administrative burdens on clinicians and staff, in large part due to the challenge of integrating these data seamlessly into electronic health records. Since 2006, the Heart Rhythm Society, in collaboration with the CIED industry, has led an initiative to establish a unified standard nomenclature.
