Description Hallermann-Streiff syndrome is a rare genetic congenital disorder, with fewer than 200 cases reported to date, that is characterized by brachycephaly with frontal bossing, micrognathia, a "bird-like" beaked nose, microphthalmia with congenital cataracts, dental abnormalities, hypotrichosis, skin atrophy, and short stature. There is limited data on psychosis in individuals with Hallermann-Streiff syndrome; the information available depicts mania rather than psychosis. This case report reviews the presentation and treatment of psychosis in a 32-year-old male with Hallermann-Streiff syndrome who was involuntarily admitted to an inpatient psychiatric unit for persecutory delusions and hallucinations.

Jejunal adenocarcinoma (JA) is both a rare type of gastrointestinal malignancy and an uncommon cause of small bowel obstruction (SBO). It typically presents with vague symptoms, such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and, in some cases, weight loss. Due to this vague presentation as well as lack of definitive imaging techniques, diagnosis tends to be delayed and patients typically present at later stages.

Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common cutaneous malignancy, requiring early diagnosis to prevent metastasis. Updated guidelines in the definition of clinical features, diagnostic modalities, grading, staging, surgical, and nonsurgical treatment methods are necessary. Diagnostic methods from biopsy, dermoscopy, and reflectance confocal microscopy have improved to include high-frequency ultrasonography, optical coherence tomography, and computed tomography.

Programmed cell death receptor 1 (PD-1) inhibitors are promising and effective treatments for various cancers. Cutaneous adverse events, such as lichenoid drug eruptions, are well-known common side effects associated with PD-1 inhibitors. Lichenoid drug eruptions associated with PD-1 inhibitors show rapid improvement with high potency topical steroids and do not require cessation of the offending drug.

Like me, he is a Psychiatry resident and I had not seen him in over a year, so meeting him was quite meaningful to me as we had so much more to talk about. Having this vista behind us while we climbed and shared stories made for one of the best hikes of my life.

Dissociative amnesia is a rare psychiatric disorder presenting with sudden retrograde memory impairment and inability to recall autobiographical information that is inconsistent with normal forgetting. This case report discusses dissociative amnesia with dissociative fugue in a middle aged male that led to him becoming homeless. Because of his autobiographical forgetting, he was unable to access services, and we present here the distinctive "detective work" needed to not only help treat his symptoms, but also help him legally establish who he is and gain access to housing.

A bedside echocardiogram in the emergency department can provide a wealth of information about a patient's hemodynamic status, anatomical structures, and response to medical interventions. This readily available tool can drastically guide management within minutes as soon as the undifferentiated critically ill patient enters the hospital. In this clinical scenario, we report a case of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) that was diagnosed for the first time in an elderly male, who was brought to the emergency department after a syncopal episode, utilizing bedside ultrasound and it highlights the significance of considering a broad differential.

Introduction The Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Course is a two-day long medical training course developed by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) to help train and prepare healthcare providers to care for severely injured patients. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in the modification or cancellation of many education programs across the world. At the University of South Florida's Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) two different models of ATLS were delivered in response to the COVID-19 pandemic with both models utilizing the ACS's online mobile ATLS (mATLS).

Objective: To evaluate whether micronutrients (vitamins/minerals) benefit attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and irritability in a North American pediatric sample.
Method: A 3-site, 8-week, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial of micronutrients was conducted in nonmedicated children aged 6 to 12 years with ADHD and at least 1 impairing irritability symptom by parent report on the Child and Adolescent Symptom Inventory-5 (CASI-5). A priori-defined primary outcomes were Clinical Global Impression-Improvement (CGI-I) (CGI-I of 1 or 2 = treatment responder) and parent-rated CASI-5 composite score of ADHD, oppositional defiant, disruptive mood dysregulation, and peer conflict symptoms, including impairment scores.
