Background: Technologies evolve at a breakneck pace, and the success of mobile health (mHealth) for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) depends on whether health care professionals, care management, government regulators, and consumers will adopt the technology as a viable solution to enhance patient self-management.
Objective: In this study, we explored the challenges of the implementation of mHealth apps in care for patients with T2DM and determined to what extent these challenges complicate the dissemination, limit scale-up, and influence the sustainability of technological interventions for patients with T2DM.
Methods: The nonadoption, abandonment, and challenges to scale-up, spread, and sustainability (NASSS) framework served as the basis for our study.

The rapid ageing of our society poses significant challenges, including an increase in chronic diseases and loneliness among older adults, leading to higher demands for care and support. Addressing these needs requires an integral approach, especially among older adults with low socioeconomic status (SES). This article details the development of the Neighbourhood Active & Connected (NAC) intervention, using the Intervention Mapping framework to expand an evidence-based physical activity intervention into a neighbourhood-oriented, holistic and systemic strategy for healthy ageing.

The 2004 tsunami and coastal subsidence resulted in 97% mangrove loss in the Nicobar Islands (India), leading to major social-ecological change. We assessed how the Nicobar mangrove social-ecological system (SES) responded to the 2004 event using the adaptive cycle (AC) framework. We describe the changes across AC phases (collapse-Ω, reorganisation-α, growth-r, and conservation-K) concerning various capital types (natural, built, human, social), connectedness and resilience.

Background: Previous studies assessing the hypothesis that the construct of 'aberrant salience' is associated with psychosis and psychotic symptoms showed conflicting results. For this reason, the association between measures to index aberrant salience and subclinical psychotic symptoms in a general population sample was analysed. In addition, genetic vulnerability was added to the analysis as a modifier to test the hypothesis that modification by genetic vulnerability may explain variability in the results.

Conservation plans that explicitly account for the social landscape where people and wildlife co-occur can yield more effective and equitable conservation practices and outcomes. Yet, social data remain underutilized, often because social data are treated as aspatial or are analyzed with approaches that do not quantify uncertainty or address bias in self-reported data. We conducted a survey (questionnaires) of 177 households in a multiuse landscape in the Kenya-Tanzania borderlands.

Aims: Conventional thiopurines (azathioprine and mercaptopurine) remain standard therapy to maintain steroid sparing remission in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but are regularly discontinued due to adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Measurement of the metabolites 6-thioguanine nucleotides (6-TGN), 6-methylmercaptopurine ribonucleotides (6-MMPR) and the 6-MMPR/6-TGN ratio, may predict the development of these ADRs. Our aim was to evaluate whether early thiopurine metabolite measurements were associated with clinical outcomes.
