The bow tie technique for single stapled colorectal anastomosis: technical note.

Aim: In this technical note we describe a simplified totally transabdominal technique to perform a single stapled end-to-end colorectal anastomosis without the need for transanal transection, linear stapler line resection, purse string or dog-ear suturing.

Method: The rationale and the technique itself are first explained by using a schematic design. Next, step-by-step pictures of one of our cases show the feasibility and advantages of this technique.

Fetal size monitoring in women with gestational diabetes and normal glucose tolerance.

Aims: To monitor fetal size and identify predictors for birthweight in women with gestational diabetes (GDM) and normal glucose tolerance (NGT).

Methods: Cohort study of 1843 women universally screened for GDM, with routine ultrasounds each trimester. Women with GDM and NGT were categorized in subgroups by birthweight centile.

Accuracy and diagnostic performance of the Bethesda system for reporting thyroid cytopathology in a tertiary endocrine surgical referral center in Belgium.

Background: The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology is a commonly used classification for fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology of suspicious thyroid nodules. The risk of malignancy (ROM) for each category has recently been analyzed in three international databases. This paper compares the diagnostic performance of the Bethesda classification in a high-volume referral center in Belgium.

Surgery for advanced neuroendocrine tumours of the small bowel: recommendations based on a consensus meeting of the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons (ESES).

Background: Small bowel neuroendocrine tumours often present with locally advanced or metastatic disease. The aim of this paper is to provide evidence-based recommendations regarding (controversial) topics in the surgical management of advanced small bowel neuroendocrine tumours.

Methods: A working group of experts was formed by the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons.

Five years of robot-assisted ventral hernia repair: initial experience and surgical outcome.

Objective: Robot-assisted ventral hernia repair (RVHR) has become a feasible alternative for open ventral hernia repair showing fewer postoperative complications and satisfying short-term results. However, long-term results are scarce in current literature.

Methods: All consecutive patients who underwent robot-assisted surgery for ventral hernias from June 2018 until February 2023 were included.
