Background: Telehomecare monitoring (TM) in patients with cancer is a complex intervention. Research shows variations in the benefits and challenges TM brings to equitable access to care, the therapeutic relationship, self-management, and practice transformation. Further investigation into these variations factors will improve implementation processes and produce effective outcomes.

The South Asian (SA) diasporic communities in Canada experience a greater burden of diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to white populations. Nutrition interventions often focus on individual behaviours and fail to consider that the social determinants of health (SDH) have a greater impact on chronic disease risk. A narrative review was conducted to identify the SDH in nutrition care interventions for the SA diaspora in Canada.

In recent decades there has been significant interest among policy makers in supporting entrepreneurship among university students, with the goal to improve labor market outcomes and contribute to the economy through venture creation. Drawing from the 2018 National Graduate Survey in Canada, our study examines who engages in entrepreneurial activity after graduation, investigating differences among demographic groups and between those who participated in entrepreneurship education on campus and those who did not participate. We find that those graduates who participated in entrepreneurship education are more likely to be self-employed and own their own business three years after graduating than the general population of university graduates.

Energy from renewable resources has been growing in popularity, which ultimately helps reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and contaminants. Since hydrogen (H) has a higher combustion production of energy than hydrocarbon fuels, it has been identified as a clean, sustainable, and environmentally friendly energy source. There are several benefits to producing biohydrogen (bioH) from renewable sources, including lower cost and increased sustainability.

Research suggests that previously burglarized targets, and targets located near such locations, are at an increased risk of being victimized. However, this elevated risk is only temporary and appears to subside over time. The boost account is one theory that attempts to describe the occurrence of repeat, and near repeat, burglaries.

MXene has garnered growing interest in the field of electrochemistry, thanks to its unique electrical and surface characteristics. Nonetheless, significant challenges persist in realizing its full potential in chemoresistive sensing applications. In this study, a novel unidirectional freeze-casting approach for fabricating a Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS)-facilitated vertically aligned MXene-based aerogel with enhanced chemoresistive sensing properties was introduced.

Understanding cell fate regulation in the liver is necessary to advance cell therapies for hepatic disease. Liver progenitor cells (LPC) contribute to tissue regeneration after severe hepatic injury yet signals instructing progenitor cell dynamics and fate are largely unknown. The Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases, TIMP1 and TIMP3 control the sheddases ADAM10 and ADAM17, key for NOTCH activation.

Rural healthcare provider shortages have a severe impact on Canadians who seek care in rural and remote (R&R) settings, often arriving with poor health or medical emergencies. Healthcare providers working in such settings often face significant challenges in accessing skills development and maintenance courses to meet the unique medical demands of rural communities. As a result, it is vital to provide R&R healthcare providers with the appropriate simulation-based skills training.

Background: SODIUM-HF was a large clinical trial testing dietary sodium restriction compared to usual care in patients with heart failure that showed no reduction in clinical events. It has been suggested that diuretic doses in response to dietary sodium modification may have influenced the trial results.
Objective: We assessed the effects of baseline diuretic dose and diuretic dose changes on clinical outcomes in the SODIUM-HF trial.

Compared to physical unmediated reality (UR), mixed reality technologies, such as Virtual (VR) and Augmented (AR) Reality, entail perturbations across multiple sensory modalities (visual, haptic, etc.) that could alter how actors move within the different environments. Because of the mediated nature, goal-directed movements in VR and AR may rely on planning and control processes that are different from movements in UR, resulting in less efficient motor control.

Canadians consume excessive amounts of sodium, a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease. In 2012, Health Canada released guidance outlining voluntary sodium reduction benchmarks for pre-packaged foods to be met by manufacturers by 2016. Using the University of Toronto's Food Label Information Program(FLIP), the aim of this study was to evaluate changes in average sodium content of Canadian pre-packaged foods from 2013 to 2017 and manufacturers' progress in meeting final phase III sodium reduction benchmark targets.

Subclinical neck pain (SCNP) is a subset of the recurrent neck pain population for which individuals have not received treatment. Individuals with SCNP have been shown to have altered cerebellar processing. The cerebellum integrates sensorimotor information to refine and update internal models necessary for reaching movements.

Background: The Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) initiated a quality improvement project to develop best practices aimed at enhancing the patient experience.
Objectives: (1) Identify and prioritise the key moments in the new patient experience that could be improved by providing chiropractors with focused support and resources; (2) explore views, barriers, and enablers to implementing these best practices; and (3) develop recommendations to facilitate the adoption of these practices.
Methods: We conducted a qualitative needs assessment using a human-centred design approach, focused on understanding the needs and experiences of end-users to create tailored solutions.

Determining the time since deposition (TSD) of bloodstains is important to establish a timeline of bloodshed, while DNA profiling addresses identity (source attribution). Traditionally treated as separate processes, this study integrates TSD estimation into routine DNA profiling by analyzing typically discarded cell lysate (eluates) from spin-column-based DNA extractions. Fluorescence spectroscopy was used to analyze eluates from bloodstains deposited up to 99 weeks.

Background/objectives: Sensorimotor dysfunction is often reported in individuals experiencing neck pain, irrespective of severity and chronicity. The treatment of neck dysfunction has been found to positively impact sensorimotor integration (SMI), thereby improving sensorimotor function. However, no patient-reported outcome measure has been validated for discrimination between healthy individuals and neck pain patients with disordered SMI, nor has there been documentation of positive change in SMI following neck pain treatment.
