Rationale: Septic thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein also known as Lemierre syndrome occurs secondary to an oropharyngeal infection often leading to septic embolisms to distant sites. Anaerobic gram-negative bacillus, Fusobacterium nucleatum and Fusobacterium necrophorum are commonly isolated organisms. Fusobacterium species has also been reported to complicate an intra-abdominal infection leading to septic thrombophlebitis of portal vein also known as pylephlebitis or abdominal variant of lemierre syndrome.

Amiodarone, a class III antiarrhythmic drug, is commonly used for the management of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, and other refractory supra-ventricular arrhythmias. Factors like a large volume of distribution, lipophilic property, deposition in tissues in large amounts, etc. have led to the development of amiodarone-induced multisystem adverse events.

Hyperammonemic encephalopathy (HE) can be broadly defined as an alteration in the level of consciousness due to elevated blood ammonia level. While hepatic cirrhosis is the most common cause of HE, non-hepatic causes like drugs, infections, and porto-systemic shunts can also lead to the presentation. In this case, we highlight an unusual occurrence of recurrent non-cirrhotic HE from obstructive urinary tract infection (UTI) with urea-splitting micro-organisms in an elderly male patient.

Although postpartum infections caused by species are relatively rare, they can have severe consequences if not promptly identified and treated. Clostridial uterine infections typically originate as localized chorioamnionitis, stemming from fetal and/or placental tissue infection. The infection may then spread to the uterine wall and endometrial tissues, and in the most severe cases, it may result in sepsis and shock.

The distended bladder in urine retention can be enormously large, raising the intra-abdominal pressure and compressing the iliac veins draining the lower limbs and pelvis. Many cases have been reported to have deep vein thrombosis (DVT)-like features with urine retention that resolves with bladder decompression.

Introduction: Multiple studies have demonstrated that tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) exert a significant extent of control over chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), as evidenced by studies such as the population-based Swedish CML registry, which found that patients reaching age 70 had a relative survival rate close to one when compared to the general population. Consequently, new perspectives on the safety of treatments have emerged, particularly in the context of their impact on fatherhood in men. According to the authors, this is the first study to examine the effect of TKIs on fatherhood in CML patients.

On 30 January 2020, the Director-General declared that the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), and on 11 March 2020, it was characterized as a pandemic. Since then, patients with COVID-19 infection are commonly reported to have an increased risk of thrombosis in various blood vessels due to hypercoagulability, blood stasis, and endothelial damage. In this study, we will present a case of a pregnant lady who was evaluated for right leg pain that started one week after having upper respiratory tract symptoms and COVID-19 infection confirmed by the COVID antigen (Ag) test.

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC), formerly called arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy (ARVD/ARVC), is a myocardial structural abnormality disease with clinical presentation of cardiac arrhythmia. It is characterized by the replacement of the myocardium with fibrofatty tissue. We present a case of a young male who met two major criteria for definite diagnosis of ARVC: early transition inverted t waves in lead V1-V4 and MRI showed right ventricle (RV) dyskinesia with RV ejection fraction (EF) < 40%, both satisfying the two major criteria of EKG and MRI required for definitive diagnosis.
