Regorafenib Treatment for Recurrent Glioblastoma Beyond Bevacizumab-Based Therapy: A Large, Multicenter, Real-Life Study.

Background/objectives: In the REGOMA trial, regorafenib demonstrated an overall survival advantage over lomustine, and it has become a recommended treatment for recurrent glioblastoma in guidelines. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of regorafenib as a third-line treatment for patients with recurrent glioblastoma who progressed while taking bevacizumab-based therapy.

Methods: This retrospective, multicenter study in Turkey included 65 patients treated between 2021 and 2023 across 19 oncology centers.

Bifurcation Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients Aged ≥80 Years: Insights from the Prospective Global Registry for the Study of Bifurcation Lesion Interventions Registry.

The outcomes of bifurcation percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients aged ≥80 and ≥90 years have received limited study. We compared the procedural characteristics and outcomes of bifurcation PCIs in patients aged ≥80 years and those aged <80 years in a multicenter registry. Of 1,253 patients who underwent 1,262 bifurcation PCIs between 2014 and 2024 at 6 centers, 194 (15%) were aged ≥80 and ≥90 years.

The role of serum C-Fos and glial fibriller acidic protein levels in detecting the severity of obstructive sleep apnea.

Purpose: Hypoxia and sleep fragmentations that develop during sleep cause central nervous system damage in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Therapeutic apheresis is an extracorporeal treatment that selectively removes abnormal cells or harmful substances in the blood that are associated with or cause certain diseases. During the last decades the application of therapeutic apheresis has expanded to a broad spectrum of hematological and non-hematological diseases due to various studies on the clinical efficacy of this procedure. In this context there are more than 30 centers performing therapeutic apheresis and registered in the apheresis database in Turkey.

The comparative effectiveness of fingolimod, natalizumab, and ocrelizumab in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.

Background: Fingolimod, natalizumab, and ocrelizumab are commonly used in the second-line treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). However, these have only been compared in observational studies, not in controlled trials, with limited and inconclusive results being reported. A comparison of their effect on relapse and disability in a real-world setting is therefore needed.

In a Real-Life Setting, Direct-Acting Antivirals to People Who Inject Drugs with Chronic Hepatitis C in Turkey.

Background: People who inject drugs (PWID) should be treated in order to eliminate hepatitis C virus in the world. The aim of this study was to compare direct-acting antivirals treatment of hepatitis C virus for PWID and non-PWID in a real-life setting.

Aim: This study aimed to identify patient characteristics, treatment patterns and outcomes and to evaluate the effects of presence of comorbidities at diagnosis in chronic phase (CP)-chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients in Turkey.

Materials & Methods: Hospital records between 2005 and 2018 were retrospectively reviewed.

To investigate adipokines (vaspin, omentin-1, adiponectin and leptin) and their correlation with hepatosteatosis degree in obese/overweight (O/O) children. We analyzed adipokine levels of 81 children (49 O/O, [body mass index (BMI) > 95] and 32 non-obese (BMI = 5-85) admitted to the pediatric outpatient clinic. Serum triglyceride, glucose, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein-cholesterol, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), insulin, HbA1c levels and leptin, omentin-1, vaspin, adiponectin levels were studied.
