The brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene plays an important role in modulating the stress-response axis and inflammation, which can be regulated by epigenetic mechanisms. BNDF methylation has been associated with stress-related psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. Previous studies have reported that stressful events are involved with long-lasting alterations in DNA methylation (DNAm) of the BNDF exon IV promoter, suggesting that glucocorticoids and inflammatory cytokines can regulate this process.

Since the discovery of d-amino acids, they have been considered inactive and have not been used as potent drugs. Here, we report that simple mixing with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) unleashed latent potentials of d-amino acids in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). PVA formed boronate esters with seemingly useless boronated d-amino acids and induced tumor-associated amino acid transporter-superselective internalization and prolonged intracellular retention, accomplishing complete cure of tumors.

We introduce a 61-year-old man with poorly differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma, who previously underwent surgical treatment. In this presentation, he complained of a newly appeared midabdominal mass after the latest chemotherapy session. He was a candidate for diagnostic laparotomy, but in the setting of trial, 99mTc-FAPI-46 SPECT/CT was performed revealing 2 peritoneal masses, which were the only findings of diagnostic surgery subsequent to the scan.

Traditional treatment strategies for recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) and recurrent implantation failure (RIF) often result in limited success, placing significant emotional and financial burdens on couples. However, novel approaches such as diagnostic gene profiling, cell therapy, stem cell-derived exosome therapy, and pharmacogenomics offer promising, personalized treatments.
