Purpose: Molecular classification of endometrial cancer (EC) has emerged as a key approach to individualize therapy and define prognostic outcomes. This study aimed to implement the traditional ProMisE classification in a Brazilian population, compared with a molecular setting of ProMisE biomarkers, and evaluate its impact on patients' prognosis.
Patient And Methods: A prospective cohort of 114 patients with primary EC treated at Barretos Cancer Hospital (BCH) between October 2020 and December 2022 was conducted.

Empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, has garnered significant interest due to its potential cardiovascular benefits, particularly in patients experiencing acute myocardial infarction (AMI) who are undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Empagliflozin in improving clinical outcomes in this patient population. A systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted to assess the effects of Empagliflozin on clinical outcomes in patients with AMI undergoing primary PCI.

Purpose: Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is the most prevalent cancer worldwide, particularly affecting head and neck region. Surgical excision, especially Moh's microsurgery, is the gold standard for treatment. However, certain patients' factors, such as age, comorbidities, and tumor location, require alternative therapies.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), a chronic neurodegenerative disease, is clinically characterized by loss of memory and learning ability among other neurological deficits. Amyloid plaques, hyperphosphorylated tau protein, and neurofibrillary tangles involve in AD etiology. Meanwhile, enzymes and their inhibitors have become the focus of research in AD treatment.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide, and pericardial effusion is relatively common in these patients. What constitutes the best therapeutic method for treating pericardial effusion in patients with cancer is controversial. Recent decades have witnessed the introduction of percutaneous balloon pericardiotomy, an effective and less-invasive method with lower recurrence rates than pericardiocentesis for draining pericardial effusion in patients with cancer who have a poor prognosis.

Objectives: This study developed a drug delivery system (DDS) using folic acid (FA)-functionalized chitosan (CS) and poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanocarriers for targeted sodium butyrate (NB) delivery to leukemia cells (NALM6). The goal was to enhance NB's therapeutic efficacy while reducing its cytotoxicity to non-malignant cells.
Methods: FA-CS-PLGA nanocarriers were synthesized and characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

MicroRNAs can be found intracellularly incorporated into extracellular vesicles (EV-miRNAs) or extracellularly as cell-free miRNAs (cf-miRNAs). This study aimed to compare the diagnostic and prognostic potential of four miRNAs with recognized roles in prostate cancer as cf-miRNAs and EV-miRNAs, obtained from liquid biopsies (LB). Total RNA was isolated from whole plasma and plasma EVs from 15 controls (CTR) and 30 patients (20 with localized prostate cancer (PCa), 10 with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa)).

Background: Alteration in DNA repair and metabolism genes can affect the maintenance of DNA integrity or xenobiotics metabolism, potentially leading to DNA damage accumulation. The present study investigated the association between polymorphisms in Glutathione S-Transferase Pi 1 (GSTP1, rs1695) and O-6-Methylguanine-DNA Methyltransferase (MGMT, rs2308321) genes with urothelial bladder cancer (UBC) susceptibility and prognosis. Furthermore, the methylation patterns of the promoter region of these genes were analyzed in tumor and non-tumor bladder tissues, besides MGMT gene expression in tumor samples.

Purpose: Cardiotoxicity is one of the major concerns in breast cancer treatment, significantly affecting patient outcomes. To improve the likelihood of favorable outcomes for breast cancer survivors, it is essential to carefully balance the potential advantages of treatment methods with the risks of harm to healthy tissues, including the heart. There is currently a lack of comprehensive, data-driven evidence on effective risk stratification strategies.

Introduction: Helicobacter pylori exhibit considerable genetic diversity, especially in the cagA gene, which is prone to rearrangement, affecting gastric pathology. This study aims to identify changes in the cagA EPIYA motif patterns and gastric pathology during long-term colonization and to explore how factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, gender, and age influence these changes.
Methods: Paired formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) gastric biopsies from 100 H.

Background: Laryngeal cancer is a common head and neck cancer. Surgical treatment can impair patients' voice and swallowing function, making definitive radiotherapy a viable alternative for locally advanced cases.
Methods: To compare the outcomes of definitive versus adjuvant radiotherapy in patients with primary locally advanced laryngeal cancer, we retrospectively evaluated consecutive patients treated from 2007 to 2020.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Early detection of precursor lesions or early-stage cancer could hamper cancer development or improve survival rates. Liquid biopsy, which detects tumor biomarkers, such as mutations, in blood, is a promising avenue for cancer screening.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is an extremely aggressive form of brain cancer that remains challenging to treat, especially owing to the lack of effective targeting and drug delivery concerns. Due to its anatomical advantages, the nose-to-brain strategy is an interesting route for drug delivery. Nanoengineering has provided technological tools and innovative strategies to overcome biotechnological limitations, which is promising for improving the effectiveness of conventional therapies.

Introduction: Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The impact of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) on patients taking capecitabine, an oral fluoropyrimidine, remains uncertain, despite their use by 20 to 55% of cancer patients. We investigated how PPIs affect the effectiveness of capecitabine in treating colorectal cancer.

Evidence on the associations of body size and occupational physical activity (PA) during the life course with gastrointestinal cancers is inconclusive. We analyzed data from the Golestan Cohort Study, a population-based prospective cohort study from Iran, with 50,045 individuals aged 40-75 years enrolled during 2004-2008 and followed through April 2023. Body size during adolescence, early adulthood, and at cohort baseline was assessed using validated pictograms.

Background: Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a therapeutic modality that combines the application of a photoactive compound (photosensitizer, PS) with low-power light to generate reactive oxygen species in the target tissue, resulting in cytotoxic damage and cell death, while sparing adjacent tissues. The objective of this study was to evaluate the phototoxicity of a cyanine dye with two chromophores (biscyanines, BCD) in systems with varying levels of cellular organization, and we used the Photogem® (a photosensitizer approved by the Brazilian ANVISA agency for clinical use in Photodynamic Therapy) as a positive control.
Materials And Methods: The cytotoxicity of the compounds was assessed in vitro in 2D monolayers, 3D spheroid cultures, and artificial skin models.

is a microaerophilic gram-negative bacterium infecting around half of the world's population. Despite its well-known role in gastric malignancies, its impact on esophageal cancer comes with a complex paradox. Several mechanisms have been proposed to explain its observed lack of carcinogenic activity in the esophagus, including the trigger of anti-inflammatory pathways, promoting atrophic gastritis, and esophageal microbiome modulation.
