Background: Despite the widespread use of drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for femoropopliteal (FP) lesions, there is still no consensus on treatment strategies for DCB restenosis. This study aimed to determine the risk factors for recurrent restenosis after repeat DCB therapy for DCB restenosis in FP lesions.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study assessed 1176 consecutive limbs in 860 patients who successfully received initial DCB therapy for FP lesions at four cardiovascular centers between May 2018 and December 2022.

Background And Aims: This study aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of atezolizumab + bevacizumab therapy in hepatocellular carcinoma patients receiving anti-platelet agents or anticoagulants.
Methods: Patients were divided into those using (IM out) and those not using (IM in) anti-platelet agents or anticoagulants, who violated the exclusion criteria of the IMbrave150 trial, and were retrospectively examined.
Results: The study included 185 patients (IM in: 157; IM out: 28).

Objectives: Serial evaluations of lactate concentration may be more useful in predicting outcomes in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) than a single measurement. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of lactate clearance (LC) on clinical and neurologic outcomes in patients with OHCA who underwent extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR).
Design: Retrospective multicenter observational study.

Previous reports have shown that a low attenuated area(LAA)in chest CT reflects the prognosis or therapeutic outcomes for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). COPD has been reported as one of the important predictive factors for postoperative pulmonary complications(PPCs). In this retrospective study, we analyzed 100 patients who underwent surgery for gastric or colorectal cancer between January 2020 and August 2022, and investigated the impact of the LAA volume ratio(LAAv%)on short term surgical outcomes.

Multiple myeloma reduces cellular and humoral immunity. Optimal prediction of antibody response to anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine in patients with MM and related disorders is essential to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. This study analyzed the humoral response to the anti-SARS-CoV-2 messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccine and its associated factor in 83 patients from June to November 2021 at seven member institutions of the Kyoto Clinical Hematology Study Group.

To evaluate the specific prognostic value of CAs, we conducted an analysis of 923 symptomatic multiple myeloma patients. Among this cohort, 480 patients had complete data set of high-risk CAs by interphase fluorescent in situ hybridization at diagnosis. In the high-risk group analysis, the median OS of patients without CAs ( = 338, 72 %) was 6.

Objectives: Signs of life (SOLs) during cardiac arrest (gasping, pupillary light reaction, or any form of body movement) are suggested to be associated with favorable neurologic outcomes in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). While data has demonstrated that extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) can improve outcomes in cases of refractory cardiac arrest, it is expected that other contributing factors lead to positive outcomes. This study aimed to investigate whether SOL on arrival is associated with neurologic outcomes in patients with OHCA who have undergone ECPR.

The purpose of this study was to verify whether the accuracy of automatic segmentation (AS) of computed tomography (CT) images of fractured orbits using deep learning (DL) is sufficient for clinical application. In the surgery of orbital fractures, many methods have been reported to create a 3D anatomical model for use as a reference. However, because the orbit bone is thin and complex, creating a segmentation model for 3D printing is complicated and time-consuming.

Image quality assessments (IQA) are an important task for providing appropriate medical care. Full-reference IQA (FR-IQA) methods, such as peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity (SSIM), are often used to evaluate imaging conditions, reconstruction conditions, and image processing algorithms, including noise reduction and super-resolution technology. However, these IQA methods may be inapplicable for medical images because they were designed for natural images.

Background: The therapeutic approach after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) diagnosed as pathological T1a-muscularis mucosa (pT1a-MM) without lymphovascular involvement (LVI) remains uncertain. We aimed to determine whether observation after ESD is acceptable for patients without LVI showing pT1a-MM cancer.
Methods: We retrospectively registered 566 ESCC patients who were treated with ESD at ten institutions between January 2007 and December 2015.

A 60-year-old man with end-stage renal disease due to nephrosclerosis had a peritoneal dialysis catheter (PD) embedded with stepwise initiation of peritoneal dialysis using Moncrief and Popovich's technique three months ago. PD was initiated three weeks after creating an exit site. He presented with abdominal pain and fever a day before admission and was diagnosed with PD-associated peritonitis caused by Streptococcus oralis.

Acquired coronary artery fistula complicated with a pseudo-false aneurysm after percutaneous coronary intervention for myocardial infarction is quite rare. In this clinical vignette, we describe the case of a 79-year-old man who was diagnosed by multimodality imaging, especially transthoracic echocardiography, and is doing well after left ventricle reconstruction.
